JUST RUN

I stumbled backwards immediately; breathing fast. 'God what have I done".

I stared wide eyed at the gruesome murder I just committed.

'No it's too late to regret now'

'He deserved this, he deserved to die. Miller deserved to die, they both deserved to die; they all deserve to die.' I made a frantic resolution, standing up.

I staggered and struggled to maintain a stance. The patrol will be here soon. I was too far out from my stolen car to return. There was nothing incriminating in it so I didn't need to go back. Right now, what I needed was to dispose of this body. I grabbed his feet and dragged him to the side of the road. He weighed like a bag of rocks.

'Man' I dropped him, breathing heavily. I looked at the road. There was a blood trail.

'Gosh, who am I kidding, it's not like I can mop the road.'

I picked up his feet and continued dragging him, deeper and deeper into the forest. Then I left him there. I had noticed that this part of the forest was tremendously cold which meant that water must be near by. I left the corpse and ran towards the water. It wasn't far. Once I got to it, I dived in and swarm to the other end.

When I got out of the water, majority of the blood had washed off. I wasn't looking at all like I had killed someone. I was just wet. I dipped my hand into my pocket and pulled out my phone, it had gone blank.

Great.

I was so bothered about running that I forgot about my phone and my pistol. Luckily I put the pistol in a holster. I could see street lights up ahead so I walked towards it. It lead me into another very quiet neighborhood but I guess it wasn't rich people that lived in it because some houses didn't have fences. I spotted some clothes hung outside. A big snow jacket, some children wears and a leather skirt. I took the jacket and the skirt and ran back into the forest.

I kept running until I was certain I had gone far away from the road before I took off my coat, shirt and trousers and put on the stolen clothes. I folded up the clothes I had taken off and took them with me as I began my journey through the woods. Once day breaks, the police will be at Patrick's street to investigate the blood trail. They will also scope out this neighborhood eventually so the best way to hide these clothes is to burn it.

I continued walking, tiredly towards God knows where. I guess the sayings are true; once you are in danger, you can do anything. Because, I walked non-stop the whole night. I found an incinerator and threw those clothes in there then continued walking.

TODAY

…10AM…

The sun rays hit the glass window and shone in to my hotel room. Illuminating the entire place before falling on top of me, warming my skin. But I didn't wake up. The clock ticked, the streets bustled but I still remained still, lying on the floor until it stroke noon.

I opened my eyes, halfway. I couldn't sit up, my head was so heavy and all my limbs felt broken. The effects of swimming in a frozen lake, walking thirty kilometers in the cold and going on an empty stomach for seven whole day had finally gotten to me. I was sick to the gut and too tired to be scared of my murder. Right now, what I needed was a doctor.

I struggled to get myself to sit up, using the floor as my leverage. It worked, painfully. My phone was lying next to me. I pressed the side buttons to turn it on not that I knew it would but because I had forgotten I went into the water with it. None the less, the phone switched on.

My luck.

I scrolled through my contacts and dialed the D.P.O's number. It rang but he didn't pick up. He call back instead. I accepted the call and put it on loud speaker.

"Hello Noni."

"I need a doctor" I managed to say.

"Noni, are you okey?"

"I need a doctor," my voice was hoarse and barely audible.

"Okey, give me your location."

"Give him my number." I hung up on him. In times like this, I can't trust any cop. It's better if I meet my needs myself. In such a job, a little slip up can cost you so much and I was not ready to lose that much. But still, there's no harm in having a backup plan, his doctor is my backup plan incase I don't succeed to find my self a doctor.

I had gotten some strength surprisingly, so I chose to use it to get my self up and and into the tub. A warm bath has its own healing abilities and that's what I was depending.

My body slipped into the tub. I sat inside it and took off my gown, heaping it on the floor. I turned on the cold water. It filled the tub by a quarter. Then I switched to the hot.

I exhaled in extreme relaxation. The water was so… good.; it felt like pressing against the body of a man. I sank deeper into the water.

You know, I hope things get better with me and Chief. I'm sure he didn't want to take advantage of me. Its not entirely his fault anyway. I suspected that he might kiss me in the car if I slept but I still did plus… I kinda like him.

'Tsk, what am I thinking'

I don't even know his name.
