Huo Yuhao had originally intended to decline the offer, but considering his upcoming cultivation would be inconvenient to do on campus, he gladly accepted instead. However, he still paid the rent as usual. Huo Yuhao didn't want to take advantage of others over such a small amount—besides, he wasn't short on money anymore.
Wang Qing only gave a token protest before agreeing. He had come to understand Huo Yuhao's personality to some extent.
Back at the academy, it was still early before afternoon classes, so Huo Yuhao made his way toward the dormitory.
The moment he opened the door, he was stunned. Snack wrappers littered the floor, leftover food containers scattered about. Some bags had split open, oozing greasy stains with a few flies buzzing around. A faint moldy odor lingered in the air.
The only untouched zone in the dorm was Wang Dong's bed—white sheets, neat and spotless.
Huo Yuhao stood frozen at the doorway. At that moment, he suddenly felt that Fatty Wang Qing was a damn mind-reader.
Leaving the classroom building, Huo Yuhao wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Zhou Yi's fierce expression still haunted his vision.
Huo Yuhao (thought): Tsk tsk, that old lady Zhou's aura is something else.
Though he felt he could probably take on a Soul Emperor now, he still instinctively feared Zhou Yi.
Something felt off. You can't judge a person from Shrek Academy by normal standards. Huo Yuhao realized he was getting cocky. No matter how strong one was, underestimating others was a dangerous mindset.
Just look at Cui Lian, a perfect example. If that guy hadn't been scared stiff, hadn't lost his nerve, he wouldn't have been such a pushover. If they'd been more cautious and not split up, Huo Yuhao might've just slipped away—and they'd still be alive.
Earlier, Huo Yuhao had approached Zhou Yi and made up a bunch of nonsense to report on the mission, then requested permission to move off campus.
Technically, this wasn't Zhou Yi's department—but Huo Yuhao figured if he went to the proper authority, they'd never approve it. That's why he went to Zhou Yi.
As expected, the moment Huo Yuhao made his request, Zhou Yi's gaze turned deadly. Fortunately, he had already prepared an excuse: his next phase of cultivation required an absolutely quiet environment, hence the need to live off campus.
Whether Zhou Yi bought it or not, she eventually agreed to help arrange it—but under one condition: Huo Yuhao must participate in the upgrade tournament in half a year (from first to second year) and give it his all to secure a good class ranking.
Huo Yuhao guessed this was probably one of the academy's methods of evaluating teachers' performance.
He agreed—though he didn't promise anything too boldly, only that he would do his best.
That afternoon, just before the class bell rang, Huo Yuhao entered the classroom. Due to the class reshuffling, some students had been reassigned to other classes, and many new faces had joined Class One.
A few of them stood out: Ning Tian, Xie Huanyue, Dai Huabin, and of course, Wang Qiu'er.
Now, Class One had essentially become the gathering ground for the top geniuses of the grade.
The students noticed Huo Yuhao as he walked in. Word had spread that he'd taken leave to go hunt a soul ring. That meant—this guy was now a three-ringed Soul Elder.
Immediately, the students still stuck at level 21 or 22 felt an immense pressure.
Huo Yuhao scanned the room but didn't see Dong Xinyi—she must've been placed in another class.
He also spotted Wang Dong, still surrounded by a circle of adoring girls, same as always.
Huo Yuhao headed toward the back of the classroom, where some seats were still free. As he moved, he felt someone watching him. He followed the feeling and saw it was Wang Qiu'er.
Recalling her words at the end of the last assessment, Huo Yuhao felt a headache coming on. He really didn't want to get involved with her.
As he passed, Wang Qiu'er shifted to the side, clearly offering him the seat beside her.
The rest of the class was stunned by this scene.
"Tsk tsk, when did the violent goddess become so considerate?"
"Dude, if you want a beating, you could always sit next to her yourself."
Such comments drifted into Huo Yuhao's ears, making him want to laugh. So Wang Qiu'er had earned the nickname "Violent Goddess"? Judging by the tone, anyone who had tried to sit next to her before probably got wrecked.
He could understand. Putting everything else aside, Wang Qiu'er was stunningly beautiful. At their age, looks were basically justice. But she was also incredibly proud.
As these thoughts floated by, Huo Yuhao suddenly remembered that awkward moment during the assessment when he accidentally ripped Wang Qiu'er's clothes.
Huo Yuhao (thinking): Nope, nope, get out of my pure, innocent mind right now.
Pretending not to notice her gesture, Huo Yuhao walked straight to an open seat in the back and sat beside a classmate he didn't recognize.
But before he even had a chance to warm the bench, Wang Qiu'er showed up, carrying all her belongings, and stood next to his new deskmate.
Realizing what was happening, the poor guy bolted like a puppy, zero dignity whatsoever.
Wang Qiu'er sat down beside Huo Yuhao like it was the most natural thing in the world. All her fanboys in class had their hearts shattered. How could their goddess be so proactive?!
Only Huo Yuhao knew: when this girl came looking for you, it was never good news.
Wang Qiu'er (softly): "Don't get the wrong idea. I just don't think it's any fun sparring with those guys."
Huo Yuhao: "..."
What's that supposed to mean? Am I fun to hit or something? Still, he caught her underlying message—Wang Qiu'er had no intention of pursuing the incident where her clothes were torn.
That afternoon's class was theory, taught by a substitute named Wang Yan. Compared to Zhou Yi, he was far more easygoing, and the students felt more relaxed.
Ding-ling-ling!The class bell rang. The students all left the classroom in high spirits. Well, not being in class is always a reason to be happy.
Back in the dorm, a rare sight greeted Huo Yuhao—Wang Dong was cleaning. He almost thought he was hallucinating.
Wang Dong also saw Huo Yuhao at the door and gave an awkward smile.
Huo Yuhao said nothing. After all, if Wang Dong's parents hadn't managed to teach him in over a decade, what made him think a few words from himself would change anything? What a joke. There's a saying: people who love telling others what to do are fools.
Besides, this guy was the pampered little princess of the god-king himself.
