“You’re marrying him, Anastasia. The wedding is Thursday. That’s final.”
She didn’t cry.
She just said, “I never agreed.”
But no one listened.
Anastasia Vetrova was the girl they adopted, then abandoned in plain sight. Traded off to Alessandro Moretti—the cold, ex-army surgeon who didn’t even show up on time for their wedding.
“I’m not here to love you,” he said.
“I don’t expect you to,” she replied.
And yet, she did.
She served his guests with a smile. Cooked for the woman he kissed in front of her. Hid her worsening illness. Hid their unborn child.
Then, one night, in the rain...
“Bring hot chocolate,” he ordered.
“For who?”
“My date.”
She went.
Fevered. Pale. Bleeding quietly inside.
And when she walked out of that club..humiliated, ignored...she was hit by a car before she even reached the sidewalk.
She died thinking of the child she’d never get to hold.
But death didn’t want her.
She woke up in a hospital bed with his voice beside her.
“You’re awake,” he whispered. “Ana, it’s me.”
She turned her head, calm as glass.
And said,
“Who are you?”
Now he wants to make things right.
But she remembers everything.
And this time, she’s not begging for love.
She’s here to teach him what it feels like to die slowly.
Guess you don't think she's that special Huh? yet you'd still fall for her in the end Alessandro and i hope she makes you suffer..
We are only 12 chapters in and it's such a sad book. Being narrated from the FL's point of view make it even sadder. I followed from Facebook and the blurb caught my attention. i ended up tearing up at work while reading it.
As a 40+ mom and wife and woman in general, I love womens's comeback after being treated badly even in fiction. hi, followed from Facebook yesterday. I'm enjoying this book

please don't have a kind heart towards them, am I the only one thinking she's stupid enough to forgive everybody later?
I just read the first three chapters and I must say,not everyone parent loves a child that's not their blood. the selfishness of the Female lead's adoptive parents is too much...
This kind of books make me so annoyed but I just can't stop reading them just so I get to see the male lead suffer in the end for all he did to the female lead! it's like watching those infuriating Chinese short dramas.
Please don't end up with that mean husband . is he now going to say it was all out of love?
I love how it's narrated from her point of view
Why is he so cruel to her?? Doesn't even know she's dying
Hey that's my name 😭 don't let her suffer too much Author
