Then another thought crossed his mind. Something deeper.
And if my victory causes a stir, if I rise high enough under a false identity… I could plant fear within the righteous factions themselves. From the inside out.
He summoned the system again.
LL
"System," he said coldly, "can you help me disguise my demonic aura?"
Ding!
Host currently lacks disguise features. However, with enough Demon Points, you may unlock the [False Mask Talisman] or the [Heavenly Disguise Technique] from the system store.
Alex nodded slowly.LLlL
"Then I'll need to earn more points
Alex sat upon his throne, the blood-red glow of the system screen shimmering before him like an omen.
He narrowed his eyes slightly.
"System," he asked, "where will the competition be held?"
The screen flickered in response.
Ding!
Host, the competition will be held in the Central Realm of Outer Space, also known as the Immortal World.
Alex leaned forward as the words scrolled across the screen, a slow smile creeping onto his lips.
The Central Realm, huh?
His gaze turned cold, thoughtful.
So they chose that place… because they knew.
They knew someone from the Demonic Realm might appear. That someone like me might come.
And the Central Realm—it's surrounded by that barrier. The sacred light that rejects even a trace of demonic energy.
Even the slightest aura of darkness… and the realm itself casts you out.
He clicked his tongue softly, amused.
They've rigged the stage before the battle even begins.
He leaned back, the throne creaking beneath him.
I could destroy that barrier.
If I willed it, I could shatter it like glass beneath my foot.
But if I do that… they'll cancel the competition.
The so-called righteous would flee like insects. Hiding behind laws. Behind fear.
He chuckled darkly, low and quiet.
"No," he muttered. "Let them have their sacred realm. Let them believe they are safe behind their divine light."
His eyes glinted with a crimson sheen.
"I'll enter anyway."
The system screen pulsed slightly, as if reacting to his resolve.
The throne room grew still once more, but the air had changed. Shadows grew deeper. Power stirred.
---
Alex stood at the edge of the high balcony, his gaze sweeping across the bustling Royal City below. The demonic winds tugged at his black robe, the red embroidery along its edges glowing faintly in the dim light.
He raised his hand slightly.
"System," he asked, his tone calm yet firm. "Is there any other way to earn Demon Points?"
The screen shimmered once again.
Ding!
Affirmative. Side tasks and missions are available in the Outer Space territories.
Alex gave a small nod of approval.
Without another word, he turned away from the view, his footsteps silent as he descended the palace steps. Outside the massive gates, the air shifted.
Shhh.
In a breath, he vanished.
---
Outside the Demonic Realm — The Endless Void
He reappeared in the vast emptiness of space, suspended in the void just beyond the borders of the Demonic Realm. Black stars blinked above, and distant light from unknown realms shimmered faintly.
Alex turned back briefly, gazing at the crimson sphere that was his domain.
"I've never left before," he murmured. "But I'll have to… to complete my mission."
Without hesitation, his body dissolved into a streak of demonic light and shot through the stars.
---
One Day Later — Border of the Central Realm
The Celestial Void hummed around him as Alex came to a stop, hovering unseen near the shimmering barrier of the Central Realm.
Countless cultivators, immortals, and sect envoys were traveling in and out of the sacred realm, but none could see him. His body was cloaked in his Undetectable Presence, blending seamlessly into the shadows of existence.
He narrowed his eyes as he observed the gateway.
The energy of the Central Realm pulsed like divine thunder. He could feel it—an invisible force field that rejected all demonic energy. Even the faintest trace would be detected and purged.
No matter how powerful he was, charging in now would raise alarm and collapse their competition plans.
His gaze shifted as movement caught his eye.
To the far side of the realm, a small group of cultivators veered off the main path—heading away from the gate and toward the outer void where no patrols watched.
They wore flowing white and pink robes, their laughter faint but sharp.
Alex's eyes glinted.
Where are they going?
Silently, he moved after them, a phantom among stars.
The group flew swiftly, unaware of their hidden tail.
"Hey," said the first man with a smirk, "let's hurry. If we're late, those girls will be gone."
"Keep your voice down," the second warned. "You want someone to hear?"
The third, wearing a lewd grin, licked his lips. "I saw them last time—absolute beauties. I'll take two this time."
Their speed increased as they raced into deeper void space.
Alex followed them soundlessly, a shadow clinging just outside their senses.
Soon, a massive wooden ship came into view—floating in the void, surrounded by a shimmering energy barrier. The vessel pulsed with spiritual energy, its runes flickering like protective chains.
The third cultivator grinned. "Hurry up, open it! I can't wait any longer!"
Alex hovered silently beside them.
They still couldn't sense him.
The second man pulled a token from his spiritual ring and stepped forward. As he approached, a section of the barrier rippled and parted—just wide enough to let them in.
They wasted no time, vanishing through the gap with laughter and anticipation.
As the barrier began to close—
Alex slipped through, undetected.
