The Summoner’s Wheel

The night had fallen, blanketing the sky in deep shades of blue and purple. Stars scattered across the heavens like tiny dreams, watching silently as Gourav Dutta, also known among his friends as "Bright," continued his lone training.

The arena grounds had mostly emptied after the day's brutal matches, but Bright remained behind, standing barefoot on the cold training field, sweat trickling down his determined face. His body flickered with unstable bolts of electricity, occasionally sparking violently around his legs. He gritted his teeth, trying to circulate his flow, trying to stabilize the storm raging inside him.

But no matter how hard he focused, the power felt wild, refusing to obey him. His Thunder Steps technique was powerful, but without full control, it could easily backfire .

Bright punched the ground in frustration, the impact making the earth tremble lightly.

"Why... why can't I control this completely...?"

Suddenly, from the shadowed sidelines, a calm voice broke through the night.

"Because you're forcing it."

Bright snapped his head towards the voice, cautious yet alert. Stepping out of the shadows was a young man, older by maybe a year or two. He had short silver hair that shimmered under the moonlight, sharp emerald eyes, and a presence so composed that even the chaotic night seemed to calm around him.

He wore a long dark-blue jacket with the crest of a different academy — Summoner Academy — stitched proudly on his sleeve.

Bright straightened up, wiping his hands on his pants.

"You are...?" he asked.

The young man offered a small, knowing smile.

"Name's Ansur. Top Rank of Summoner Academy. I was watching you for a while."

Bright tensed up slightly. Being watched during training wasn't exactly comforting.

Ansur raised his hand peacefully. "Relax. I'm not here to fight. I saw your energy... it's impressive, but wild. You're making a mistake."

Bright's brows knitted together. "Mistake?"

Ansur stepped closer, crouching and touching the ground with two fingers. A faint dark aura expanded from him naturally, unlike Bright's sporadic bursts.

"Energy isn't something you chain," Ansur said, his voice calm yet powerful.

"Power... it's a river. A flow. You're trying to dam it forcefully. Instead, you should feel it, let it circulate freely through your body, like blood, like breath."

Bright listened intently, drawn by the authority in his tone.

"Let it go where it wants," Ansur continued.

"Guide it with your soul, not with force. Trust your body, trust your flow."

He stood up then, dusting his pants.

Bright blinked, absorbing every word.

"And what academy are you from again?" Bright asked.

Ansur smiled lightly. "Summoner Academy. We, Summoners, make contracts with beasts. Our control over energy is vital — without it, we'd be torn apart by the creatures we summon."

And right then, Bright felt a powerful presence emerge. Behind Ansur, dark smoke coiled and materialized into a mighty beast — a giant black dragon with piercing blue flames leaking from its scales.

The dragon let out a low, guttural growl that shook the earth around them.

Bright's eyes widened. "What the hell..."

"This is Zeon, my contracted beast. An Epic-ranked Dark Dragon," Ansur said casually, as if talking about a pet.

Bright could feel it — the dragon's strength was absurd.

Summoner Academy was truly different.

Ansur explained further. "Summoners make contracts with beasts of different ranks — Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical. The stronger the beast, the more mana needed to maintain control. Without 50% sync, you can't fully transform with the beast. Only a few ancient legends managed to summon mythical beasts completely."

Bright listened carefully, fascinated.

"There was once a Summoner," Ansur said, voice softening with respect,

"who controlled five mythical beasts... his name was Arden Vaelor, the first Grand Summoner."

Bright felt a thrill down his spine.

This was an entirely new world he had barely scratched the surface of.

"You'll get there too, Bright," Ansur said warmly. "I can see the potential."

Bright nodded slowly, committing every word to heart.

As Ansur turned to leave, Bright called out,

"Hey... thank you. What's your name again?"

The Summoner smiled back.

"Ansur. Remember it."

Bright smiled . "I'm Gourav Dutta. Friends call me Bright."

Ansur chuckled. "Then Bright... I hope to meet you again at the top."

With that, Ansur and Zeon disappeared into the shadows.

Bright clenched his fists, heart burning with new fire. He closed his eyes, inhaled deeply — and this time, he felt it — the energy, the flow, the current moving through his body naturally.

His legs crackled with electric blue light — his Thunder Steps technique becoming more stable.

Stage One: Mastered.

Stage Two: Mastered.

He let out a deep laugh, laying down on the ground, gazing up at the endless stars.

"Tomorrow," he whispered,

"I'll blow them all away."

From the distance, hidden in the shadows of the training field,

a woman watched quietly — a soft smile gracing her lips.

"You can do it... my son."

It was his real mother — not his big mom, but his birth mother — her presence hidden from Bright's eyes.

After a few moments, she turned and disappeared into the night.

Next Day: Arena Grounds

The entire academy buzzed like a swarm of bees.

Excitement thickened the air — today's matches would decide the final 16 who would continue towards the championship.

Bright walked into the arena, wearing his academy jacket, feeling the eyes of thousands upon him. His energy, however, was calm, like a storm waiting to be unleashed.

His opponent stood across the arena — a smug-looking rich boy, dressed in expensive battle gear. His name was Kunal Yadav , ranked 12th, son of a corporate tycoon.

The crowd buzzed as Kunal stretched, grinning arrogantly.

"Another peasant to crush," Kunal said loudly, smirking as he cracked his knuckles.

Bright simply looked at him — an unreadable expression on his face.

Kunal's friends in the stands laughed and cheered, shouting:

"Kunal, finish him quick!"

But Bright? He smiled lightly and replied,

"Don't celebrate too soon. You might cry later."

The crowd immediately "oohhhed" and whistled at the savage comeback.

Kunal's face darkened.

The tension skyrocketed as the Announcer stepped forward.

"Welcome to the Quarterfinal Selections! Today's match:

Gourav Dutta vs Kunal Yadav!

Both fighters, prepare yourselves!"

Bright rolled his shoulders, crackles of blue lightning dancing at his heels.

Kunal started smiling.

The crowd went wild, everyone sensing the intensity about to explode.

The Announcer raised his hand.

"In 3... 2... 1...

—FIGHT!"
