Chapter 1: The Beginning Of The End

16 years old Oscar strolled down the street with a school bag on his back which arms he held dearly as he took each step moving further. The streets were a little wet as it's been raining, the atmosphere still aerie with thick clouds and the corners of the streets still hoarding small water.

A disoriented man ran pass him making him halt suddenly as to not to hit the man. The man ran across the street like a zombie, even his looks fit perfectly into the description.

Oscar continued his journey again wondering what has gotten into the man. But the topic quickly left his mind, considering it's been a wild week after all.

Just then a Ferrari with young people in it drove past him with speed splashing water on him, followed by a loud resounding laughter as they drove off.

Oscar paused, looked to the sky and took a deep breath. Then he continued his journey again.

Those were two of his classmates from wealthy families. In fact, every one of his classmates were rich kids except for him, who was there solely on scholarship.

A couple more steps later Oscar entered the school's premises and strolled through a line of fine luxuries cars, mostly Ferraris as that was the current school trend. This was the school's park.

Everyday he walked pass them trying to persuade himself to look away, but he could always resist the temptation. Today was no different; his eyeballs were already on the side of his eyes taking a glimpse at them.

"Hey look! It's Legman," one of the student yelled out while coming out of his car.

Everyone else in the parking lot busted out in laughter.

Oscar covered his head with his hoodie and ignored the comments. The whole school has nicknamed him Legman for always walking to school and not owning a single car.

"I know his legs must hate to see him wake up from a nap," another student added, commanding another wave of laughter.

Trying to fight them haven't done much good to Oscar so he hastened his steps. Somehow all the students in school were beginning to grow powers because of the outbreak of a new illegal drug being traded like cocaine, except for him whom the drug didn't work on.

"Legman!" A student yelled his name as he entered the busy school hallway. It was Xander, his arch-nemesis.

He walked towards him with a squad of friends and arranged the neck of Oscar's hoodie, "I was just thinking about you." He made fire in his right palm and pulled it near Oscar's face, "I miss you buddy," he spoke emotionally. " I miss roasting you."

Oscar adjusted his school bag and walked passed him with an angry stare, shading his shoulder out of his way.

"Hahahahah," Xander chuckled. "I know the ground can spell out your full name by now."

The hallway disrupted in laughter, they knew what he meant.

"Your shoe wants revenge," Xander added as Oscar hastened his steps.

"Oscar," a fat kid ran up to meet him. "I've got an idea."

Oscar ignored him, his head still hanging around his inescapable reality.

The fat kid noticed, "You're still bothered by those guys after all this years?"

"I'm not bothered," Oscar is paranoid.

"So I got an idea," the fat kid continued. "The drug, I find a dealer."

"It doesn't work on me," Oscar reminded him harshly.

"I know. Chill, what the fuck!" the fat kid cussed. "We're gonna help him sell the drugs. We're gonna be rich."

"Drug dealers?" Oscar paused. "You know the government is mad right? They wanna flush out this drug and that involves killing the dealers."

Suddenly one of the male students spanked a female's ass and glided through the air, making a narrow escape.

Her eyes instantly turned blue followed by a series of ice balls which she shot at him from her bare hands. One of them made impact with him, freezing his left foot in the air. He crashed to the ground.

"You can't run from Miss Froze," she bragged as she bounced towards him.

The fat kid pushed Oscar into the bathroom the same second pulling his attention back to himself. "Look at them, flexing their powers and luxury. They treat us like the little people. This is our chance Oscar."

"What are you so desperate about?" Oscar questioned him with annoyance. "You drive to school everyday, your parents are still alive. The drug works on you…"

"You really think I wanna be driving a Mercedes everyday to school? I wanna switch cars sometimes. I wanna follow the trend. I want a Ferrari." He clenched his fists. "Everyone in school is driving a Ferrari right now and I can't even hop on the trend. Why're you so calm about it?"

"If I get in trouble there's no one coming to save me."

"You're already in trouble. You're a popular joke in your own school. Don't you wanna change that?" the fat kid pressed him.

"I'm not gonna turn into a drug dealer. End of conversation," Oscar walked past his friend heading for the door handle when he heard:

"Elsa would never date someone of your status."

"That's where you're taking it to?" Oscar stood straight. "Ten bucks says she will."

"Alright stop postponing. Go ask her out right now."

Oscar took a deep breathe, "Watch me." He headed out.

Oscar entered the classroom to find her sitting alone reading a book. Classes haven't started yet; this was the perfect moment for him.

He approached her.

"Elsa, what're you reading? He pulled a chair to sit beside her.

"Hey Oscar. How're you?"

"Surviving," his fingers started twitching. "Hey, wanted to ask you a question."

"Okay," she took her eyes off the book and gave him her attention.

"I was wondering if you'd like to hangout after school. Like… like…" Oscar stuttered, "A date."

"Oh Oscar," a look of sympathy enshrouded her grimace. Oscar could already smell bad news coming. "I think you're overthinking things a bit. I was only nice to you because the whole school treated you like shit. I can't really imagine myself with someone like you, you know. Besides, Xander already asked me to be his girlfriend. I'm really sorry. I--"

Before she could finish talking Oscar stood up and left the classroom. As he walked through the hallway tears filled his eyes. Not only was he abysmally rejected, she picked his arch-nemesis over him.

He stopped behind the fat kid, Finn, who was busy digging through his locker and said three words, "Where's the dealer?"
