Suddenly, Alexander's phone vibrated. Someone is calling him, but it's not registered. He looked at it first, thinking whether to answer it or not. He immediately answered the call because he still had a lot to do.
"Hello," he greeted the caller.
"Boss, I just want to report to you that our target has been located." He said.
He smiled; in his mind, his work would become easier.
"That's good." He said. "If you have any additional information, it's better to say it now." He said.
"B--- Boss, another one of our colleagues has died." His voice was worried.
He was slightly surprised by that, but he couldn't show any weakness.
So, they are also taking action, and they are prioritizing the spy who betrayed them. He thought to himself with a smirk.
"Take good care." That's all he said, and he immediately hung up the call.
How did they find out that they have a spy? Do they also work as spies outside their group? Then who would be their informant outside? The question gnawed at him.
He couldn't deny the fact that he was under surveillance throughout the campaign. There was someone watching Don Bernard Fuego's every move, so he had to act discreetly. He immediately saw who it was. The problem was that he couldn't make out its face; he only remembered its sharp eyes.
Now, despite the lingering question in his mind, Giovane has assigned him a new task. It has long been his task to spy on Fuego's enemies, especially in the conflict between father and son.
He looked at the picture of Isabel's classmate; he still needed to learn more about her character. As far as he knew, her parents died because Don Bernard silenced the family one by one, and the entire clan perished when Giovane was betrayed back then.
What a complicated relationship they have! Might they consider aligning with those in leadership roles to ensure a more peaceful future? He used to ask himself that.
He took a cigarette stick from the pack. He lit it and immediately started smoking while deep in thought.
Moreover, Charles, their close relative from the Fuentes family, was also involved; he didn't understand why Charles kept fighting battles he couldn't win.
Alexander called someone.
"Boss, do you need anything?" he asked him.
"Yeah, I have some work for you. I know this will be easy for you." He said. "I will send some details, the usual way, and oh, if you do your job properly, you may have a bonus tip for me." He said.
He smiled on the other end of the line. "Okay, boss," he said.
He immediately hung up the call. He stepped out of his room for a moment. His attention was drawn to an object.
He is now at the Fuego mansion because he will report on what is happening inside and outside the organization, knowing that Charles' hands were already full back then.
He was the person I encountered back then. He met his gaze and observed his appearance. He wore a shirt that had worn out, and the color of his pants had faded. He was wearing shoes that he believed were worn out.
He scrutinized its appearance, noticing that thick glasses concealed its eyes.
"Have we met before?" That was all he asked as he turned to the man.
He just nodded politely at him. "Ah, yes, sir." He followed it up with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" Alexander asked.
"Ah, I'm just hoping to get a job here as a gardener." He said.
He nodded as he looked at the form again. He didn't know that someone would apply here.
"Where are you headed?" he asked him.
"Someone told me to look for Don Bernard for an interview."
"Okay, good luck with your interview."
"Thank you, sir," he said, bowing to him.
He was about to turn away when he remembered something. "What is your name?" Alexander asked his companion.
"Rolando Gracias, sir." He said.
After hearing his name, he looked at him again and walked away; he was going to Don Bernard's room to report what was happening.
He was already in the room, and he immediately knocked.
"Come in," he heard.
He hurriedly continued.
He was already in front of the powerful person; the latter was looking at something as if conducting a background check, wearing glasses. He didn't say anything for now; he would wait until it was over.
"How was your visit to the warehouse?" he asked, maintaining eye contact with him.
He took a deep breath before answering, "Just a while ago, before I came back here, I found out that there was chaos in the warehouse because some captives had escaped." He said back then.
"Do you already know who the snakes are in the warehouse?"
There are people suspected of betraying the organization; one of the prospects is Charles." He said.
He even saw him grip the papers tighter; the paper he was holding was crumpled.
"I told you, why hasn't Giovane killed that yet?" Don Bernard asked him.
"Giovane told me that he used Charles to catch his accomplice," he said.
He just sighed. "How can he use a traitor like Charles?" he asked him.
"Just trust your son, sir." That's all he said, because he knew exactly how Giovane thought.
"Have you found out who spread the accusations and the photos?" he asked.
"Unfortunately, not yet; snakes are good at hiding in their dens."
"You know my political opponents will use that."
"About that, those who wanted to use those accusations are also being silenced."
He smiled at him. "That's commendable; I can truly rely on you for such matters." He just nodded at him.
"For now, that's all I can report." He politely said to Don Bernard.
He nodded. "You can leave now, and you can continue with your work." This is what he said to him.
Before he left.
"There's a man who applied to be a gardener."
"Oh, I see, he's already here. Let him in, Alexander; I might be able to use that man during the campaign period."
"As you wish." He said it and immediately left.
He even saw the man waiting outside; when he saw him, he immediately bowed.
"They're waiting for you inside."
"Ah, okay, thank you, sir."
He saw that the man he had met had already entered.
Despite his ignorance, he sensed a sinister presence within.
That's too much, Alexander. That person works, and he's a naïve person, to apply here at Fuego. That's all that was on his mind.
