Volume 1 Chapter 81: Junior Sister, Pillow Talk & Gossip

. . . . . . . . . . . .
Xiao Yunluo was so shocked her tongue felt tied.
Unlike Pei Lengxue, she had already learned about the whole "bridal night" business when she was seven or eight—from Aunt Qiu, of course.
Actually, not only did she know, but she'd even sneaked into the warehouse on Central Peak back then, found those little lewd books the elders had confiscated from other disciples of the Profound Star Sect… and stolen a few to take a look.
To this day, she still had two or three stashed inside her pillow. Whenever she was bored, she'd secretly pull them out and study the illustrations.
So, the moment she heard Pei Lengxue say that she and her Senior Brother had already consummated their relationship, Xiao Yunluo's brain immediately replaced the faces of the two little characters in her lewd book… with Pei Lengxue and Ye Anping.
And just like that, she found herself biting her lip, cheeks bright red as she lowered her head in embarrassment.
"Then, Lengxue… you and your Senior Brother have already… already…"
"…Mm."
The two girls standing in the courtyard both turned red in the face, fidgeting in mutual shyness.
But after a short pause, Xiao Yunluo suddenly thought of something. Her head shot up and her brows furrowed.
"Wait—hold on! Lengxue, I remember… you haven't even come of age yet!"
"Ah… um… no, not yet."
"Hiiiissss—then how could you do that?!" Xiao Yunluo scolded with hands on her hips, brows knitting tightly. "That's a total violation of cultivation law!! Both the rules of the Hundred Lotus Sect and the Profound Star Sect are super clear about this! If I remember right… if it doesn't go all the way, it's still at least three years in the Heavenly Prison. If it does go all the way—then that's a century behind bars, minimum! No upper limit!! The Four Regions Disciplinary Court would have to throw him straight into the Soul Prison in the Central Region!"
"Eh?!" Pei Lengxue flinched, eyes wide as saucers, instinctively shrinking her neck. She frantically waved her hands. "N-No! It's fine! It's totally fine!"
"How is it fine?! You haven't come of age!!"
"I— I was willing! Besides— even if I'm not of age by actual age, I am of age by nominal years, right?"
"N-Nominal years…" Xiao Yunluo was momentarily at a loss for words. She sighed in frustration, rubbing her temples. "Aiiih… Lengxue, you're way too naive! Something this serious, how could you just… wait, did your Senior Brother say he'd marry you yet?"
"Ah… not yet…"
"Not yet?!!" Xiao Yunluo's previously relaxed brow knit up again in record time. "Lengxue! Are you stupid?! What if he doesn't marry you later?! You two haven't even had a proper ceremony, and you just—just jumped into bed?!"
"It's fine… he will marry me. I know he will."
Looking at Pei Lengxue's face, Xiao Yunluo pursed her lips and quietly asked:
"Then… um… Lengxue, can you tell me… what it felt like?"
"Huh?"
"I mean like, during the wedding night… how did it feel?"
"…It felt really safe. And warm."
"…Hmm…" Xiao Yunluo rested her chin in her hand, curiosity winning out over shame. "Did it… hurt?"
"?"
Pei Lengxue tilted her head, blinking in confusion.
"Huh? Why would it hurt?"
"…Isn't it supposed to… hurt?" Xiao Yunluo asked in confusion. "I read that in the books—it says the first time is really painful and there's supposed to be, like, bleeding and everything…"
???
Pei Lengxue blinked in surprise, then tilted her head. "Hmm? Is it supposed to hurt?"
Xiao Yunluo was stunned into silence.
She stared at Lengxue's innocent eyes for a moment before hesitantly asking, "Wait… you really consummated your relationship?"
"Yeah! Senior Brother held me while we slept."
"…He just held you?"
"Uh-huh! What else would he do?"
Xiao Yunluo's expression froze for a second before her eyebrows lifted. A sudden wave of realization washed over her face as her previously stormy expression melted into calm.
"Ooohhh~~"
Ah, that explains it. She knew it! Ye Anping didn't seem like the kind of guy who'd do anything indecent…
But the moment she heard herself thinking that, she immediately shook her head to clear the thought.
'No, no, what was that?! What do I care what kind of guy he is?!'
Pei Lengxue, noticing her odd mix of relief and frustration, tilted her head in confusion.
"Yunluo? What's wrong?"
"N-Nothing," Xiao Yunluo quickly replied, shaking her head. Then she asked curiously, "So why was your Senior Brother holding you while sleeping, anyway?"
"Ah… Senior Brother said it had something to do with his cultivation. Like, his Yang energy's too strong or something, and he needs my spiritual energy to balance it out…"
"…I see."
Xiao Yunluo nodded, already subconsciously thinking about whether she could ask an elder about any pills that treat "excessive Yang energy." If there were, she could go to the Pill Hall, grab a few, and bring them over to Ye Anping.
That would be a perfectly legitimate excuse to go visit him.
'—Wait, what am I thinking?! Why would I go see him?!'
She immediately snuffed out that dangerous idea. What did Ye Anping's health have to do with her anyway? Hmph!
After a brief pause, Xiao Yunluo cleared her throat and asked, "By the way, Lengxue… you're getting ready to build your foundation soon, right?"
"Mm! Senior Brother said he'll take me to do it when the timing's just right."
"I see… So, do you have all the materials ready? Like Sand Burial Bones, Morning-Evening Dew… those things aren't cheap at the marketplace. If you don't have enough, I've got extra—I can give you some."
"Ah—thanks, Yunluo! But that's okay." Pei Lengxue quickly waved her hand. "Senior Brother already prepared everything for me."
"Oh… I see."
"…Ah, that reminds me!" Pei Lengxue suddenly perked up. "I almost forgot!"
"Huh?"
Lengxue reached into her storage bag and pulled out a full set of foundation-building materials.
"These are actually for that silver-haired dummy. Senior Brother told me to come deliver them."
Hearing that, Xiao Yunluo's expression froze for a moment.
If Ye Anping went out of his way to prepare a set for that white-haired idiot, then… maybe… just maybe… he'd prepared one for her too?
Not that she needed it or anything—she wasn't lacking in materials.
But if Ye Anping did offer her a set… then she could reluctantly go over, say thank you or something… maybe even give him a little return gift while she was at it…
But judging by Pei Lengxue's attitude, it didn't seem like she was included.
"Siiigh—"
Pei Lengxue turned and blinked. "Yunluo? Why're you sighing?"
"…It's nothing," Xiao Yunluo muttered. "Just… a little envious you've got such a good Senior Brother."
"…Mm."
Pei Lengxue nodded softly, lips pursed as she turned and walked off, arms full of materials, heading toward Feng Yudie's room.
As she reached the door, Pei Lengxue took a deep breath… and kicked it open with one sharp stomp.
BANG—!
Inside, Feng Yudie was curled up on her bed like a silkworm, tightly wrapped in her blanket. Hearing the sudden noise, she cautiously poked her head out and blinked.
"Oh… it's Junior Sister Pei. Is it time for class already? Can you ask the elder for leave on my behalf? It's too cold… I don't wanna get up…"
Pei Lengxue rolled her eyes and walked over, tossing a bundled package onto the bed.
"Here. Foundation establishment materials," she said, recalling Ye Anping's instructions. "You're almost ready to build your foundation too, so I went ahead and bought them for you."
!!
Feng Yudie froze in place for a moment. The silver ahoge on top of her head suddenly stood straight up—Junior Sister Pei bought me a gift?!
In a flash, she shot out of the covers like a missile, eagerly grabbing the materials with both hands.
"Thank you, Junior Sister Pei!"
"…"
"How much did it cost? I'll pay you back."
Pei Lengxue remembered her Senior Brother's teachings and shook her head with a gentle smile.
"No need. Just consider it a gift."
"Eh?! I can't do that!" Feng Yudie gasped, hurriedly pushing the items back toward her. "These aren't cheap at all—how can I just take them from you? I don't accept handouts!"
Pei Lengxue let out a long breath.
"…Fine. I got them for twenty-five thousand spirit stones. Just give me that."
???
From the sidelines, Xiao Yunluo's head practically popped with question marks.
'Twenty-five thousand?! '
Sure, prices did spike in winter, but this set wasn't worth that much! For someone with good talent, a single set was usually enough for foundation establishment. Regular cultivators might need four or five sets, sure—but at 25k per set, they might as well give up on cultivation entirely!
But Feng Yudie didn't even blink. She ran straight to her vanity, pulled out her storage bag, and took out three little bags, each stuffed with 10,000 spirit stones.
"Alrighty! Here!"
Pei Lengxue nodded, smoothly handing over the goods while pocketing the money.
"Get up already. You skipped class yesterday—if Elder Qin comes knocking, don't blame me."
"Okay, okay! I'll listen to Junior Sister Pei~"
After collecting her payment, Pei Lengxue left with Xiao Yunluo.
Back in the room, Feng Yudie hugged the foundation materials tightly, rolling happily on her bed.
"Ehehe~ Xiaotian, did you see that? Junior Sister Pei cares about me~"
At her words, Xiaotian poked its head out from her soul realm, flipping through a copy of the Heavenly Dao Scriptures. It turned to the appendix listing average market prices for magical tools, quickly did the math, and raised an eyebrow.
With a snort, it muttered coldly:
『Heh. Idiot.』
