His footsteps echoed slightly on the hard marble floor as he made his way out of the meeting room and down the hall.
"So. How'd it go?" Dane asked, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
Axel looked up at the ceiling, hearing his mother's question and his own response echoing in his mind.
"I don't know."
Dane tilted his head slightly, his face morphing into one of confusion.
"What do you mean you don't know?"
Axel shrugs, his gaze still set on the ceiling, He didn't say anything for a few moments, simply listening to his own footsteps echoing in the hall. After a while he said,
"You were right."
Dane's face morphed more, his eyebrows raised in bewilderment,
"About what?"
Axel fixed a slight smile and simply responded,
"Everything."
Dane's expression softened slightly, his head turning back to the long, stretching hallway in front of them. Simply listening to their footsteps he waited a moment,
"Coffee?"
"Yeah."
Axel replied almost instantly.
The boys walked the rest of the way to the kitchens in silence.
