Chapter 16

Audrey's P.O.V

I stiffen at his closeness.

There he is again—for the second time tonight—flush against me, arms wrapped around my waist like vines. I feel his breath at the crook of my neck, warm and unyielding. It sends a shiver down my spine.

Oh, come on, Drew.

I’ve been fighting this... fighting you. And now you're doing this?

“Umm... Drew,” I murmur, trying to keep my voice even. “You’re hanging on me like a backpack.”

He chuckles—low, sinful, and far too amused.

“I’m a comfy backpack,” he replies.

I don’t have to look to know he’s smiling. I can feel the smirk curling on his lips as they ghost over my skin, brushing lightly against the shell of my ear.

My heart lurches in my chest.

“What do you think you’re doing?” I whisper.

“Why, seducing you, of course.”

His voice is husky and dangerous, more honest than it has any right to be. Before I can move or process, his hands shift—smooth, certain—and he spins me to face him.
