Audrey's P.O.V

Rob had left with a ton of warnings. He’s worried about me—drowning in all of this. He knows what’s going on back home and how everything is weighing on me. And now Drew.

He looked like he was doing good. Stupid me. Did I really think it would be that easy? What do I even know about addictions and rehabs? My life, in a nutshell, has been a fight for the opposite. Always staying in control, planning properly, strict daily routines. No room to breathe, let alone live carelessly.

Maybe I took it too hard on him.

I watch him sleep peacefully, left with my mess of thoughts. Can he make it this time? I want to do this for him. Not me. Not us. Him. He has a chance to fight this, change his life around—unlike people who are just shoved into a new reality by force, with no way out.

His hand twitches and his eyes flutter open.

“Hey,” he breathes. His voice is thick and raspy. “What time is it?”
