The next day.
Curious to check out the situation, Roy arrived at Private Kuoh Academy.
"Hm? You're… Roy?"
Natsuki Minamiya, who was grading papers in her office, looked up with a hint of confusion in her eyes.
After not seeing him for a while, her student had changed drastically.
Not only had he grown a few centimeters taller, but his vitality had noticeably improved.
Aside from his face, still as handsome as ever, he seemed transformed inside and out.
"Little Natsuki, after that accident, I deeply realized how fragile humans are," Roy explained. "To avoid something like that happening again, I trained a bit."
"I've told you countless times to call me Teacher Natsuki." Natsuki Minamiya gave Roy another scrutinizing look.
Trained a bit?
This was far beyond the results of ordinary training.
Still…
"Since you're in the mood to tease me, it seems you've moved past that accident."
"Yeah, we have to keep moving forward. Can't stay stuck in the past forever, right?"
"Good. If you need help, you can always come to me."
Natsuki Minamiya pulled out a stack of papers. "These are the assignments you missed. Take your time catching up."
"Suddenly remembered something I need to do. Gotta head to class. Catch you later!"
As if he hadn't heard her, Roy waved and left the office.
Natsuki Minamiya shook her head helplessly but didn't press the issue.
She pulled a new file from her drawer and flipped to a specific page.
[Roy: Sacred Gear bearer. Half a month ago, while out with his parents, his Sacred Gear partially awakened, leaking its aura and attracting a Level 2 cursed spirit. The attack resulted in the death of Roy's parents and left him with mental trauma.]
"From his behavior just now, he's definitely recovered from the attack, but it feels like he's swung to another extreme."
After a moment's thought, Natsuki Minamiya picked up her phone and made a call. "Hello, Rias. You're not too busy lately, right? I have a favor to ask."
…
Meanwhile.
Leaving Natsuki Minamiya's office, Roy headed toward his classroom.
Halfway there, a shout echoed from the other end of the corridor.
"Hyoudou! You jerk, stop right there!"
"We agreed to face trouble together, and you bailed, selling us out!"
"You two have the nerve to talk? Didn't you both screw me over last time?"
Roy turned to see three boys around his age sprinting down the hallway.
Leading the pack was a brown-haired boy.
While fleeing, he taunted the two chasing him.
But when he glanced forward again, he noticed a figure blocking his path.
"Crap!"
Issei Hyoudou panicked. "Get out of the way, I can't stop—"
Thud!
Before he could finish, Issei's world spun. A sharp pain shot through his body.
When he came to, he was pinned to the ground.
His arms were locked behind his back, and a knee pressed firmly against his neck.
"Ow, ow, ow!"
Issei yelped. "My bad, my bad! I surrender! Let me go!"
"Sorry, reflex."
Roy released him.
While training in swordsmanship recently, Roy had picked up some hand-to-hand combat techniques.
When Issei barreled toward him, it seemed like a perfect chance to test them in real combat.
Not bad.
"Need me to heal you up?"
"Uh, no thanks."
Issei, just getting up, shivered and quickly shook his head.
After that experience, he wasn't about to ask Roy for help.
He signaled to his two friends who'd caught up, and the trio headed toward the infirmary.
Watching them leave, Roy didn't head to class immediately. Instead, he focused on the air in front of him.
[Congratulations! You have successfully defeated Issei Hyoudou, obtaining the Red Entry 'Multiplier']
[Multiplier (Red): When activated, your strength doubles every ten seconds. The upper limit depends on your physical capacity.]
"Talk about a pleasant surprise."
Defeating enemies could grant new entries.
A smile spread across Roy's face as he examined the Multiplier entry.
As a high-tier entry, just below Seven-Colored and Gold, its effect was self-evident.
In the original story, Issei Hyoudou relied on this ability to fight and triumph over countless monsters despite being an ordinary human.
"If I recall correctly, the Red Dragon Emperor's powers include more than just Multiplier."
A bold idea struck Roy.
But school wasn't the place to cause a scene.
He made his way to class, took his seat, and greeted the student next to him.
"Morning, Kato."
"Good morning, Roy-kun."
Megumi Kato blinked, surprised he'd even noticed her.
"Yo, Roy, long time no see."
Yuji Itadori, seated in front, turned around. "Heard you were in an accident recently. You good now?"
"All good. Better than ever."
Roy raised his arm. "Wanna test it?"
Yuji grinned, catching on, and grabbed Roy's hand for a wrist-wrestling match.
"Whoa, you're crazy strong now."
Unable to win immediately, Yuji's eyes widened in surprise.
"It can get stronger."
Ten seconds had passed, and Roy activated Multiplier.
With his strength doubled, he easily overpowered Yuji, who hadn't reacted in time.
"Huh? What'd you do, Roy?"
Yuji sensed something off.
"Just a little trick."
Roy smirked.
Yuji, of course, couldn't make sense of it.
Before he could press further, a petite figure entered the classroom.
"Quiet down! Class is starting!"
Glancing at Roy and Yuji's antics, Natsuki Minamiya began the lesson.
Roy split his attention, listening to Natsuki's lecture while opening his attribute panel.
No luck. No new entry.
It seemed winning at wrist-wrestling didn't count as defeating an enemy in the system's eyes.
"Time for the backup plan."
After a day of behaving in class, Roy headed to the neighboring classroom and found his target.
"Hyoudou, got a minute?"
