Chapter 7: Brotherly Ties

Chapter 7: Brotherly Ties

She turned her bewildered gaze toward the beautiful woman and asked:

"Mother, I've forgotten everything. Can you tell me who I am?"

The woman froze, her eyes clouded with sorrow.

The banquet had ended late. The woman took her hand, guiding her through the mansion while introducing the layout of the house. Along the way, she recounted the entire biography of the boy whose body Hải Vân now inhabited, along with stories of her deceased husband.

Hải Vân's mind grew heavier with every word.

Of all the bodies to transmigrate into, why did it have to be the son of a mafia boss?

The boy and the devilish lawyer weren't even blood brothers. He was merely an adopted son, yet he had been loved by the late patriarch as if he were his own flesh and blood.

They walked endlessly without even finishing the first floor.

No doubt about it—this was the home of a tycoon, a real estate mogul whose fortune oozed from every brick and tile.

Hải Vân sighed wearily.

"I'm tired. I want to sleep."

The young woman cupped her face, showering her with kisses as she gently reminded:

"I've told you many times, but I must remind you again—your brother is not a simple man. Be ten times more cautious with him than with anyone else. Tomorrow, I must fly to America. You must take care of yourself."

Hải Vân nodded so quickly that the woman looked at her in surprise before smiling and kissing her again.

"My son is becoming so wise! You never listened before."

If it were before, Hải Vân might not have believed that the renowned lawyer had such a sinister side. But last night, she had seen it with her own eyes.

If not for handing over the USB, he would have blown her brains out without hesitation.

She still didn't know what secrets that USB contained, but it was enough to make him resort to any means to obtain it. Of course, what she gave him was just a decoy—filled with gay videos.

If he ever found out, he'd probably tear her to pieces.

Later, she was led to a spacious, immaculate room decorated in black and white tones. She tugged at the curtains—not a speck of dust. She tested the bed and blankets—spotless.

The beautiful woman smiled.

"Your brother is an obsessive clean freak. It's the only comfort I have about you sharing a room with him."

Hải Vân's heart skipped a beat. She clutched the woman's sleeve.

"Can I sleep with you?"

The woman cupped her cheeks and coaxed gently:

"Before he passed, your father's will stated that you and your brother must live in harmony and love each other. Anyone who fails to uphold this will lose their inheritance. Until marriage, both of you must share a room."

Hải Vân swallowed hard, no longer asking or clinging.

If that's the case, he wouldn't dare kill me.

She collapsed onto the bed, too exhausted to even bother showering.
