Chapter 20: The Robot Maker

Chapter 20: The Robot Maker

The brat lifted his head and looked at her, eyes just as confused as hers.

Then, all of a sudden, his gaze turned sharp—filled with both frustration and heartache.

"That robot hit you so lightly, and you still ended up with a brain injury and amnesia?"

Hoàng Hải Vân was startled.

Quickly, she explained, "No, I lost my memory because I was attacked a few days ago."

Tống Thanh Phong scrutinized her, as if debating whether to question her further.

After a moment of silence, he simply replied:

"I'm Tống Thanh Phong. This is P&R Headquarters—your family's property. A facility that creates robots from human bodies."

"Creates robots… from human bodies?"

Was she hearing that right?

The brat—Tống Thanh Phong—chuckled.

"Trần thiếu gia suddenly becoming this clueless is honestly kind of cute."

He leaned in closer, gently placing a bandage over the wound he had just cleaned. His touch was oddly careful, almost too gentle for someone talking so casually about such a twisted concept.

Then, just as quickly, he stood up.

"There's a lot to explain. I'll tell you later."

He turned to leave.

Hoàng Hải Vân grabbed his wrist, stopping him.

"Where are you going? I'll go with you—explain on the way."

Tống Thanh Phong hesitated for a second, then grinned.

"Clothes are in the closet. I'll wait outside."

It was only then that Hoàng Hải Vân looked down at herself.

Her shirt was covered in dirt, and her pants had been slashed to shreds.

If someone walked in now, they'd definitely think she and the brat had just finished some intense SM session.

…These two were surprisingly thoughtful, though. Her room was fully stocked with everything she needed.

She changed quickly and stepped outside, following Tống Thanh Phong down a pristine white hallway.

It looked like a hospital, a morgue, and a laboratory all mixed into one.

They entered a room where Trần Anh Hùng was standing beside a surgical bed.

On it, a lifeless body lay still.

Curious, Hoàng Hải Vân stepped closer without hesitation.

She had never been afraid of corpses.

But—

The moment she saw the face of the body, she froze.

Because the face was hers.

The exact same face she had seen in the mirror for over twenty years.

Her past body.

She turned to them, demanding:

"This girl is dead. She should have been cremated. Why is she here?"

Tống Thanh Phong shrugged, as if her corpse was no big deal.

"Don't you think she's a rare beauty? It would be a shame to burn her."

Hoàng Hải Vân: "…"

"We originally came to the city to attend your funeral," he continued, "but then we found out you weren't dead. So, we changed plans… and stole your body instead."

He grinned. "Lucky us, we ended up saving the Trần family's young master from drowning along the way."

Hoàng Hải Vân narrowed her eyes.

Her tone was half-curious, half-mocking:

"So, what do you two plan to do? Bring her back to life and make her your wife?"
