The hand gripping the umbrella handle suddenly tightened.
On Enrique's cold, emotionless face, his eyes darkened, becoming deep and unreadable. His thin lips curved slightly before he spoke in a soft, mocking tone. "Why do you think I should agree to a divorce? Sana Vellore, I never forced you to marry me."
His voice was sharp, laced with sarcasm and ridicule.
Sana let out a bitter laugh. No, he hadn't forced her, she had forced him.
Still kneeling before the tombstone, she looked at the photo of her father, feeling as if his eyes were judging her even from the grave. She was panicking, her soaked body trembling from cold and despair.
"What… what will make you agree to a divorce?"
She asked through clenched teeth. She had made a terrible mistake and already paid the price. She didn't want to keep making the same mistake.
Enrique looked down at the woman kneeling at his feet. His thin lips curled into a wicked smile. "Why don't you please me here? How about that?"
"You lunatic, Enrique!"
Sana's head snapped up. She stared at him in disgust, gasping as she scooped up a handful of dirt and flung it at him.
He quickly stepped back and avoided the flying dirt, his shoes splashing into the muddy ground.
"Can't handle this now? Where's that courage you had when you forced me to marry you?"
Enrique stood tall, completely unfazed by the hatred in her eyes. His gaze was cold, sharp like shards of ice.
"Sana, I gave you a chance and you threw it away. You want a divorce? No—you haven't paid what you owe me."
His voice was like cold steel, slicing through her like a blade, chilling her to the bone.
"You've already destroyed the Vellore Corporation and driven my father to his grave. If you're still punishing me for using Kim Corporation's shares to force you into marriage, then fine—I'll accept that. But isn't that enough? Enrique, isn't it enough?!"
Sana's voice rose with desperation. She stared at his retreating figure, unable to understand how she ever loved someone so cruel.
"Enough? How could it ever be enough?"
Enrique paused, his back still turned. A flicker of pain flashed in his eyes. "What you owe me… will never be enough."
Sana collapsed to the ground, her pale face drained of color. Her once-bright eyes had lost all their light.
Owe him?
The only thing she had ever owed Enrique Kim was this: when the Kim Corporation was struggling, she had stood before him holding the share certificates and said, "I can save your company—if you marry me."
One mistake, and it lasted seven years.
Seven years of marriage, and it had always been a one-sided effort. He had never truly let her into his life. She thought that time and companionship would eventually win his heart.
But after seven years, she had given up everything to be his wife—only to receive a heart that grew colder by the day, a family driven to ruin, and a father lost forever.
No matter what she did, she could never win his love.
With a dull thud, Sana, already trembling from the cold, suddenly blacked out and collapsed onto the ground.
The sound caught Enrique's attention. He turned and saw her frail body lying motionless in the rain.
His pupils contracted sharply. In the next moment, he strode toward her, tossed aside his umbrella, and lifted her from the muddy ground. His hands, even through her soaked clothes, could feel how ice-cold her body had become.
"Damn it."
He cursed under his breath and carried her swiftly toward the black car parked not far away.
