Before she could even finish speaking, his cold, detached voice cut through the air.
"From the secretary."
Just three simple words.
But to Sana, it felt like her heart had shattered all over again.
Each word echoed like blood dripping, slow and cruel.
She stared at him. He didn't even lift his head didn't spare her a single glance. As if the very sight of her disgusted him.
Her face grew paler, yet the corners of her lips curved upward in a bitter smile.
She should have known better.
She had always known the truth. But every time, she still clung to that foolish hope only to end up humiliating herself again.
Bending down, she picked up the bag that had fallen to the floor. Her gaze sharpened, turning icy cold.
"Thirty percent of Kim Group's shares are indeed invaluable. Thank you so much for the reminder. Tell me, what do you think will happen to Kim Group if I announce I'm selling them?"
"Don't forget the Vellore family's current situation."
Enrique's voice was low and serious. He finally looked up at her. The light green of her dress reflected in his eyes, and for a moment, his gaze brightened, but the moment he met her mocking, hate-filled stare, his pupils contracted sharply, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his face.
Just as he was about to stand up, Sana took two firm steps forward and slammed her hands on the desk.
She stared down at him with a mocking, forceful tone.
"Vellore family? What about it? With thirty percent of Kim's shares in my hand, I can afford ten Vellore families. Enrique Kim, didn't you say we should torture each other?" She sneered. "Fine. Let's torture each other. But don't regret it later."
With a loud bang, she slammed the office door shut behind her, leaving the room in deafening silence.
Enrique remained seated in the same position, unmoved. But as he leaned back into his chair, a trace of exhaustion appeared between his brows.
He lit a cigarette, took a long drag, and exhaled slowly. The smoke curled in the air, blurring his gaze, distant, unfocused.
That dress…
That soft green color reminded him of the first time he met her.
She had worn a similar light green dress then too. Elegant, fresh, and radiant like spring. Her smile that day had been like a flower in full bloom.
But now...
She was still the same woman, but he was no longer the man from back then.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Enrique picked up his phone and made a call. His voice remained cold and composed.
"Monitor the shares in Madam's hands. If she tries to sell them, purchase them secretly at any price."
Sana knew nothing of this.
After walking out of Kim Group's building, her hurried steps gradually slowed.
She turned and stared at the towering, opulent structure behind her. Her gaze was frozen, cold as ice.
"Enrique Kim," she whispered, "you once said that at worst, we could go to hell together. So if we're living without love... then let's die together."
It had been this thirty percent stake that once saved the Kim Group.
Now, she would use that same thirty percent to destroy it.
Without hesitation, she turned and walked away, just as fiercely as she once loved him.
The Vellore residence stood in the upscale villas of Yunchang Mountain. Once a grand estate, it now looked bleak and lifeless. The locked gate cast a sense of desolation over the entire property.
Standing at the entrance, Sana's face turned ashen.
The laughter and joy that once filled this house still echoed faintly in her mind. But her father, the man who had doted on her for over twenty years, was now buried in the ground, gone from her life forever.
She wanted to cry, but no tears came.
Her father was gone. She couldn't let her family fall apart.
She pulled out a key, but just as she was about to insert it, the door suddenly swung open from the inside.
Her mother's face twisted with rage at the sight of her.
"You What are you doing here? Are you not satisfied with what you've done to this family? Do you think our family hasn't suffered enough? Do you think we're not all better off dead?"
