"Breaking news A massive blue comet is on a collision course with Earth expected to strike at midnight tonight. The impact anticipated to be catastrophic with the potential to destroy entire planet. Updates will be provided every two as we countdown to this disaster.
The announcement echoed from the television, its ominous tone filling the room. Absynthe sat motionless, staring blankly at the screen as the words reverberated in her mind. At last, she reached for the remote and turned off the TV, plung the space into silence.
"Lush?!" she called out, her voice slicing through the stillness.
"Here, Syn," came the reply, light and melodious, from the kitchen.
Lush was there, effortlessly preparing breakfast, Absynthe part of their routine. At 27, she possessed an ingenuous presence—her long blonde hair cascaded in silky waves, and her eyes radiated a warmth that softened her sharp. Formerly a model, she now embraced her role with grace and poise. One hand rested on her rounded belly, visibly 20 weeks pregnant with Sinister's Child her brother.
Sinister, Absynthe's older, was inherently enigmatic. At 28, he exuded an ethereal charm with his-white hair piercing blue eyes, and athletic physique. While his career an actor was publicly celebrated, his mysterious secondary occupation concealed, even from Lush and Absynt.
Absynthe herself was a study in contrasts. At 17, she had a wiry frame stood tall at 5'9". Her white hair styled neatly into a French braid, framed her round face and striking blue eyes that glimmered rebellious determination She carried the demeanor of a delinquent—-tempered and head—but those close to her valued her loyalty and distinctive spark.
After finishing her breakfast, Absynthe left the house and began her walk to school, "L's High," with music streaming through her headphones.Hey, baby," a guy called.
Worry And Blue Dust Chapter 3
The morning sun cast long shadows across the streets as Absynthe trudged toward school, her headphones snugly in place. The announcement about the blue comet lingered in her mind, a dark cloud she couldn't quite shake. What was the point of school today, anyway? If the world were ending, who cared about homework or tests? Still, routine was a stubborn comfort, and so she kept walking, letting the rhythmic thrum of her music drown out her thoughts.
Just as the gates of Louche's High came into view, a familiar, smug voice broke through the quiet.
"Synny! Wait up!"
Absynthe sighed audibly, pulling down her headphones and bracing herself. Sure enough, Obsidian jogged up beside her, his signature grin plastered across his face. His gold eyes gleamed with mischief, and his red hair caught the morning light like embers on fire.
"Did you miss me?" he teased, falling into step beside her.
"Oh, it's you," she deadpanned, not even glancing his way. "And for the thousandth time, no, Obsidian, I didn't."
"Aww, come on, baby cakes," he said, his grin widening.
That was it. Absynthe stopped dead in her tracks, turned on her heel, and clenched her fist. Before Obsidian could react, she delivered a swift, controlled punch to the side of his head.
"OW!" he yelped, stumbling back and rubbing the sore spot. "What was that for?!"
"You know exactly what that was for," she growled, turning on her heel and storming off.
"Don't be such a storm cloud, baby cakes!" he called after her, his voice laced with cheeky defiance.
Absynthe didn't bother replying, her attention already shifting as the school's front gates loomed closer. Standing there, waiting patiently with her usual air of grace, was Synthena.
"Synny! Sidiboo!" Synthena called, her voice bright and playful as ever. Her pink hair gleamed in the sunlight, the toxic green streak adding a touch of rebellion to her otherwise angelic appearance.
"Hey, Synth," Absynthe greeted her, a small smile breaking through her earlier scowl.
"Aw, did I interrupt one of your arguments again?" Synthena asked, her lilac eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Obsidian was just being a nuisance," Absynthe said, shooting him a glare.
"That's Captain Nuisance to you," Obsidian quipped, catching up to them despite the lingering bruise on his ego—and his head.
Synthena giggled, her attention shifting between the two of them. "Hey, did you guys hear about the comet?"
Absynthe and Obsidian exchanged a glance before nodding.
"Are you scared?" Synthena asked, her voice quieter now, the question laced with genuine concern.
"Scared? Nah," Obsidian said, puffing out his chest and flashing a shaky grin. "I'm a man. Men don't get scared."
Both girls raised an eyebrow, then burst into laughter.
"Sure, Sid," Absynthe said, shaking her head.
Synthena leaned in, her smile softening. "Don't worry," she said, her tone oddly reassuring. "Whatever happens, at least we're all in it together."
The Realisations and Worries Chapter 4
The small group, now separated from the larger one, entered the school gates only to encounter a hallway filled with dreary faces. Some pretended everything was fine, while others muttered about the comet, wondering why they hadn't just stayed home. A few mumbled about strict parents, while others openly dismissed the news as an outrageous government ploy to exploit the poor. Absynthe thought to herself, "Leftists."
Synthena spoke her thoughts aloud, "The hallways are so empty today. I knew I should've stayed home," she exclaimed. Absynthe responded in her direction, "Why didn't you?" Synthena looked down and replied, "I'm not sure. I just had this strange feeling that I should be here today, despite my father's pleas."
Silence filled the corridor. "Why didn't you stay home?" Synthena asked Absynthe again. Crossing her arms while walking through the center of the hallway, she added, "I guess I was bored and didn't want to spend my last hours... bored." Synthena noticed the worry in her tone and immediately understood. "You were worried, weren't you?" she asked.
Absynthe shook off Synthena's question, quickly disapproving and hiding the truth. Synthena giggled quietly and remarked, "You are a hard head, aren't you?" Absynthe looked away, her face flushed. Synthena then turned her head towards Obsidian and asked, "What's happening to you? You're than usual." Obsidian, shocked that his dull expressions had been, quickly changed his demeanor to conceal the truth. "Ahh, what? Nothing's wrong here!" he exclaimed. Synthena raised her eyebrows, glancing at him, clearly seeing through the facade.
"Oh well, I guess I'll just have to eat these cream donuts all by myself," Synthena said, slightly tilting her head and raising her arms mockingly, as if ridiculing his facade. "After all, it doesn't matter, right? You don't care, right?" Obsidion quickly snapped back to reality. "Hey! You can't do that! That's not fair—give me some!" he exclaimed, attempting to snatch the donuts Synthena had pulled out of her bag. However, she kept playfully dodging him, avoiding his attempts. Laughing mischievously, Synthena then ran off with a donut box raised high above her head, trying her best to make it even harder for Obsidion to grab.
Absynthe stood there in silence for a moment, observing this wholesome and redeeming scene. Reflecting inwardly, she thought to herself, "If the comet really does hit, will we be friends again in the afterlife?" Her eyes watered slightly, overcome by the poignancy of the moment. Both Obsidion and Synth stopped, noticing her tears and her sad smile. Slowly, Synthena lowered her arms, ceasing her playful dodging, while Obsidion stopped his pursuit, his face flushed with uncertainty. He had never imagined seeing Absynthe show such vulnerability. As he gazed at her tear-streaked face, his heart thudded in his chest.
he immediately snapped back to reality his face completely flushed a nervous smile upon his face as he quickly stormed towards Absynthe and paces his hands on her shoulders making eye contact They both blushed obsidian then he attempted to shakes Absynthe back to her normal self by roughly asking her and shouting snap outog it this isn't you! damn uptight thngy m bobber girl! unsure of how to insult Absynthe and not be obvious about his emotions towards her, after all, he only liked her as a friend, right? He had a question in his mind, Absynthe immediately notices his failed attempts at insulting her that she gleams and glows, and starts laughing a laugh he has never heard, What's so funny he yells towards her.
Synthena, starting to feel like a third wheel, turns her back to the romantic moment as a shadow cover face, and she playfully tsk, seeing what's going on between the two arguing like a married couple.e I see Synthena whispered to herself, and unexpectedly, Obsidian yells an obvious insult and ends up
Foolish Bonds -Chapter 5
The sun hung low in the sky, casting an amber glow across the school grounds. Inside the cafeteria, Absynthe, Synthena, and Obsidian sat quietly, the weight of the comet's approach heavy in the air. A television in the corner played the latest update, filling the room with tense voices:
"Breaking news: The blue comet has entered Earth's atmosphere and is growing larger by the minute. Scientists report erratic behavior, claiming the comet has slowed, an unprecedented phenomenon. With less than nine hours until impact, citizens are urged to remain calm and prepare for the worst."
Synthena reached for the remote and turned the TV off abruptly. The absence of sound was almost deafening as the group sat in silence, the faint tension palpable.
Suddenly, the cafeteria doors swung open, breaking the stillness. Travis strode in, his white hair streaked with lilac catching the waning light, his dull purple eyes sharp and focused. Behind him followed Celestia, as casual as ever, her oversized jersey swaying as she adjusted her Bluetooth earpiece, one hand clutching her PSP tightly.
"Well, isn't this a lively little reunion?" Travis remarked dryly, his gaze scanning the small group. "How come no one bothered inviting me to the pity party?"
"Travy, you made it!" Synthena exclaimed, her voice brightening as she waved him over. She was always the ray of sunshine in even the darkest moments.
"Of course I did, Twerp," Travis replied, ruffling her hair gently but feigning indifference. "Someone's gotta keep you out of trouble."
Celestia plopped down beside Obsidian, barely sparing the tense atmosphere a glance as her fingers danced across her PSP. "So, what's the plan?" she asked nonchalantly, her eyes fixed on the screen. "Hide, run, or sit here like ducks waiting to be roasted?"
Obsidian scoffed. "Not exactly the best time for gaming, don't you think?"
"It helps me focus," Celestia shot back, her lips curling into a smirk. "What's your excuse for standing around like a deer in headlights?"
"Alright, enough!" Absynthe's voice cut through their bickering. She stood abruptly, her sharp blue eyes snapping between them. "We don't have time for this. We need a plan."
"Finally, some sense," Travis said with a faint smirk, crossing his arms. "And I'm guessing you're the one with the bright ideas, Abs?"
Absynthe ignored the nickname, focusing on the streaks of blue and violet that painted the horizon outside the window. The sky had begun to shift, the colors deepening and writhing unnaturally. A low rumble vibrated beneath their feet, faint but growing.
"That sky doesn't look normal," Celestia said, finally peeling her eyes away from her PSP. "Are we sure this is just a comet?"
"No," Synthena said, her voice small as she leaned closer to the window. "It feels... wrong."
"Whatever it is, we can't stay here," Absynthe declared, her voice steady despite the tremor in her hands. "We need to head for the basement. It's the only reinforced part of the school."
"The basement?" Travis arched an eyebrow. "That's your genius plan?"
"It's safer than being out in the open," Absynthe snapped, glaring at him. "Unless you've got a better idea?"
Travis raised his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, fearless leader. Lead the way."
The group moved quickly, leaving the cafeteria and weaving through the darkened hallways. The lights flickered above them, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The rumble outside had grown louder, shaking the ground beneath their feet as if the earth was protesting the comet's approach.
As they neared the stairwell to the basement, the building shook violently, sending shards of glass raining from above. Celestia yelped, ducking as Travis instinctively shielded her with his arm.
"Move!" Absynthe shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos.
They raced down the stairs, their footsteps echoing against the concrete walls. Once inside the basement, they slammed the heavy door shut behind them, the roar from outside muffled but still ominous.
For a moment, the group just stood there, catching their breath. Then, Absynthe turned to face them, her expression steely.
"Whatever happens next, we stick together," she said firmly. "Got it?"
There was a murmur of agreement, though Celestia couldn't resist muttering, "Sticking together doesn't stop a comet from squashing us, but sure, why not?"
Travis rolled his eyes. "At least we'll be squashed as a team," he said dryly, earning a faint chuckle from Obsidian.
Above them, the roar reached a deafening peak. The sky outside twisted and churned, as if being torn apart. The blue comet had arrived, and whatever secrets it carried were about to change everything.
Is This The End? chap 6
One final message reverberated through the speakers planted across Geneara, a voice echoing:
"To those who can hear this message, to those with their cherished families or closest friends, even though this may feel like the end, do not despair, for this is only the beginning. Although our time is limited, we shall rise, for we are Geneara—the only town to have survived near-death countless times. This will only make us stronger."
The small group huddled together, clinging to one another in the hope of remaining united even in death. They quietly shared memories, striving to distract themselves from the present reality. As the countdown drew nearer and nearer—12...3—the comet collided with Geneara, and the lights went out.
