Laverne never believed in the supernatural. To him, life was already complicated enough without worrying about things like ghosts or reincarnation. But when a reckless act of bravery ends in fire and chaos, he wakes up to something far worse than death—an unfamiliar world governed by an unfathomable system.

Marked as an Anomaly, an existence that shouldn't be, he finds himself entangled in forces beyond mortal comprehension. The world he is reborn into runs on the concept of Ka, the essence of life and fate itself. Yet, unlike others, his Ka does not conform—it rebels. The system that governs this world struggles to define him, its very framework warping around his presence.

With each step forward, he realizes that his mere existence is enough to tip the scales of destiny. Some will seek to control him. Others will try to erase him. But one truth remains:

This story was originally published on a backup account I created when I temporarily lost access to this one. Now that I'm back on Nebucha, I've decided it's only right for all of my works to be together under one roof—including this one.

My first story here, Tale of Vanguard, is currently on hiatus, but it still holds a special place in my heart. Since then, I've grown so much as a writer, and this current project is one I'm especially excited to continue with care and passion.

While creating this story, I couldn't help but be reminded of Shadow Slave, which is one of my favorite pieces of fiction ever. Certain moments, tones, or ideas in this story brought it to mind, and in that way, it quietly inspired me during the writing process.

Also, about the 'System' tag you might have seen—I want to clarify what that actually means in the context of this story. Yes, there's a system. But no, the main character won't suddenly become overpowered or gain ridiculous boosts right out of the gate. This story isn't about getting instant power. It's about earning it—through hardship, through struggle, through growth. The system exists, yes, but it's more of a guide, an interface, a reflection of progress rather than a free meal ticket. Think of it as a tool to track one's journey rather than define it.
