Hyūga Hinata, the gluttonous princess of the shinobi world, could out-eat even the Akimichi clan next door.
After ruling out the possibility of Hiashi or Rikka's... unconventional hobbies, only one truth remained:
Purity of bloodline.
Perhaps even atavism.
The Hyūga clan descended from the Ōtsutsuki—a lineage of terrifying power.
By the law of energy conservation, purer blood demanded greater nourishment.
Her constant hunger? A biological alarm—her body screaming for fuel.
As the saying went: "Thoroughbreds are common, but those who recognize them are rare."
No one understood Hinata's condition. Coupled with her introverted nature, she'd never eaten her fill.
"A starved horse cannot run."
Her potential remained shackled.
To Hiashi, she seemed hopelessly inferior to Neji—an unacceptable flaw for the main family's heir.
Pathetic.
Sasame watched her grease-smeared lips and handed her a tissue. "Clean up."
Hinata nodded sheepishly.
This was her first lapse in decorum—eating chicken with her hands like some commoner.
After wiping her mouth and fingers, she fidgeted under his gaze.
"Full yet?"
Hinata hesitated, then recalled his earlier words: "With me, no lies."
"...No."
Her honesty burned her cheeks.
As expected.
Sasame sighed. "I'm out of food, but I'll bring more later."
He'd only grabbed one plate, and now dared not leave—lest Samuiyo swoop in and kidnap her.
What if Hiashi fails to intercept him this time?
Hinata nodded obediently—then froze.
Why was Sasame here?
And why the stealthy entrance?
"Did you... come just to feed me?"
Her fingers twisted nervously.
That delayed reaction...
Good thing you met me.
"I saw Cloud-nin sneaking around," Sasame lied smoothly. "They might target you."
"Eh?!"
Her wide eyes shimmered with gratitude—her third rescue.
Doubt never crossed her mind.
Under that pure gaze, Sasame felt oddly pressured.
Now I get why Tsunade cracks...
"Th-thank you."
"You're welcome."
He patted her hair, then summoned a fist-sized slug.
"This is?"
"My summon. Keep it hidden."
After planting the slug, he slipped out—just as his perimeter alarm triggered.
Samuiyo's close.
Hinata, clutching the slug, hid in a closet.
Fear ebbed as warmth pulsed from the creature.
So kind...
Her heart raced—not from panic, but joy.
Tonight, she'd received countless lavish gifts.
Yet none compared to that humble drumstick.
———
"Who's there?!"
Samuiyo whirled, spotting a familiar face.
Damn. Stealth still needs work.
Sasame had hoped for a clean kidney stab.
"You!" Samuiyo snarled. "Tsunade's brat."
"I'm that famous?"
Recognition came not from fame, but from the flooding incident.
Samuiyo—drowned yet surviving—now faced his nemesis.
Steel flashed in the moonlight—
Only to meet the Raijin-no-Ken.
The legendary blade sheared through Samuiyo's sword like tofu, nearly bisecting him.
He barely dodged, rolling away as lightning cloaked his body.
Escape.
This brat wasn't worth alerting the Hyūga.
"INTRUDER!"
Sasame's shout shattered the night.
A Suiton: Suishōha slowed Samuiyo's flight—
Just as shadows converged.
Hiashi stepped forward, gaze flicking between them.
"Explain."
"Your ninja attacked me!" Samuiyo bluffed. "Does Konoha seek war?!"
He'd gambled on Leaf's war-weariness—
But Sasame cut in:
"I caught him sneaking toward Hinata's room."
The Hyūga's killing intent spiked.
Samuiyo's defense crumbled:
"Then why were you in the women's quarters?"
Checkmate.
