"Anyway, how is the information about Queen Emerald supposed to help me figure out or control this thing in me?" I asked out of nowhere.
After our small dinner, the five of us were now continuing our discussion. For the first time in my life, I've never read this kind of books. I've never spent time reading a bunch of books—especially if they're about magior and science. Like, seriously?! Gosh.
"As of now, we still don't know. But maybe let's just focus on how to control it first. The day after tomorrow, you'll meet the high-ups," Micah pointed out. She had a point though. I just nodded.
We continued scrolling through these books, and my head was spinning. I never knew I would regret not attending science class regularly.
A sudden notification on my phone.
I looked at it. A message from someone I didn't know. "RJ Vauge," I read the name of the sender before opening the message.
"RJ Vauge? Wait, this can't be the one I'm thinking of... right? Or is it?"
RJ:"Hey! Remember me? Anyway, we're in the same group in Computer Class. Hopefully, you can attend class tomorrow so we can discuss it. –The guy from backstage."
So he's that guy? We're in the same class?
MARY:"I'll do my best to attend class but can't promise—I'm a bit busy right now."
RJ:"What's keeping you busy though? I heard you just got discharged from the hospital."
MARY:"Scrolling through the happenings during the era hundred of years ago."
I don't know why I said that, but what can I do? I already sent it.
RJ:"You weren't tackling the time of Queen Emerald right? Wait, are you researching about the Core? The magior that doesn't need a ring?"
I was shocked that he knew about that, but maybe he's just really into science and history.
MARY:"Yeah, that's literally what we're Googling right now, how did you know?"
RJ:
"oh I know a lot of things during that era hahah"
MARY:
"Really? In any case do you have any idea about it? Specifically how to control the magior in it?"
I know that was too much information to give someone I barely knew. But I was just hoping maybe he could help.
RJ:"Actually, the advice I gave you last time came from that. The most basic thing to control it is to control your emotions. The stronger your emotion, the stronger your magior can be. I have a limited edition book on that. I'll let you borrow it if you make me part of that research thingy of yours."
END OF CONVERSATION.
And without hesitation, I made a deal. I ended the chat when my friends started calling me.
"Mary Quinlan! For heaven's sake, be open-minded!" Jad shouted.
"I—I'm sorry. But good news: I found someone who has a lot of knowledge, and even have a limited edition book regarding how to control magior in the Core," I said to them.
"Really? Who?" they curiously asked.
"We'll meet him at school tomorrow. I just found out we're classmates in some subjects and he's also my teammate for our computer class project."
"Well then, that's nice. We won't have a hard time finding him," Reina agreed.
"But wait a minute… He? You mean it's a boy? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this couldn't possibly be the same guy, could it?" Harmony added curiously, and the others immediately understood who she meant.
"Gosh, Mary! I thought you were loyal to Miro?" Reina teased, and the others laughed while I just ignored them. Here they go again.
"We must see his face. Let's come with her tomorrow," said Micah.
"Really? Mic? Guys seriously? gosh. you're thinking too much" I said in disbelief.
"Sorry," she said, but the others kept laughing. When my phone rang again with another message, they all leaned in, curious to know who it was.
I had nothing to hide, so I let them look. The moment they saw RJ's name, they squealed and teased me even harder—though he just like my messaged.
"Are we going to continue this or what?" I tried to change the topic, and they just nodded sarcastically.
"Okay… Ms. Mary Quinlan," Jad smirked. I rolled my eyes at them.
"Mhmm!"
I glared at them and they just laugh to it.
"ohh.. she is pissed" Reina teased even more.
Somehow, I felt something while they teased me, but I didn't dwell on it. I just continued scrolling through this books.
