Chapter 29: Accident

"Harry," Vison called out, quickly stepping toward him and placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "Close your eyes."

"Why—"

Harry didn't get to finish his question before a sudden wave of dizziness washed over him.

With a sharp crack, Vison Apparated them both just outside the shop's door. Fortunately, the location was relatively secluded. Only a middle-aged man stood nearby, smoking on the roadside with his back turned. Their sudden arrival went unnoticed.

Because the Apparition distance was short, Harry didn't feel too sick, just startled. Still dizzy, he grabbed Vison's sleeve. "What's wrong, Teacher?"

Vison didn't respond right away. His eyes were locked on the shop.

Suddenly, a deep rumble came from inside the once-quiet store.

Harry jumped.

Then the ground shuddered, and the entire building began to tremble violently. Vison's instincts screamed that the shop might collapse at any moment.

A second later, the front window shattered with a deafening crash. The wooden door blasted off its hinges and slammed into the pavement right beside the smoking man with a loud bang.

"!"

The man yelped, flinging his cigarette aside and turning to gape at Vison. "What the hell happened!?"

Vison forced an awkward smile, then swiftly drew his wand and flicked it at the man.

"Wait—"

The passerby's words cut off mid-sentence as Vison's spell hit him squarely. It wouldn't cause harm—just a mild tingling sensation in the head, enough to make him forget.

With the bystander dealt with, Vison turned his focus back to the shop.

From inside, he could hear crackling and groaning sounds as the walls creaked and strained. Something massive was pushing them outward; the wooden beams and bricks were barely holding together.

Through the shattered window, all Vison could see were huge swaths of green.

Harry stood frozen in shock. The small, cozy shop was now on the brink of collapse, thanks to the enormous, expanding mass of the Biting Cabbage. Its leaves had grown to monstrous proportions, punching right through the ceiling and tearing cracks into the surrounding walls.

Vison's lips twitched. "It really is 'Giant Growth'..." he muttered and sighed deeply. Trouble again.

Forget everything else—this house was practically uninhabitable now.

He stepped forward, calmly waving his wand to dispel the dust and debris clouding the air.

As he approached, the oversized Biting Cabbage suddenly seemed to deflate. Its massive leaves drooped, and the entire plant shrank rapidly like a balloon losing air. It let out a low whimper, curling into itself until it returned to its original, pot-sized form.

Harry cautiously followed, blinking in surprise. "Uh… why did it suddenly stop?"

"Ran out of magic, probably." Vison bent down, scooping up the now-shrunken cabbage and handing it to Harry. "Its Giant Growth is temporary. Doesn't last long."

Harry accepted the plant and prodded its toothy leaves. They twitched weakly but lacked any bite—like a wilted puppy, the once-ferocious cabbage now lay limp in his arms.

Vison rubbed his temples. "Three seconds," he muttered. "All that destruction… and it only lasted three seconds."

Straightening up, he glanced around at the wreckage. "Now, let's figure out how to clean up this mess."

Harry swallowed hard and looked back at the ruined storefront. Worry twisted in his chest. But at least it seemed like only the building was damaged. Spells could fix that, right?

Vison raised his wand. "Reparo."

With a series of crackling sounds, the shattered glass reassembled, the torn roof patched itself, and the blown-off door floated back to its frame. In just seconds, the shop's structure looked mostly intact again. But inside… the overturned pots, scattered herbs, and spilled potions would take hours to sort out.

Harry stared, then glanced down at the Biting Cabbage. His voice was small. "Did I… cause this?"

Vison turned to him and chuckled softly. He patted Harry's shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry. It's not your fault. No one could have predicted this little monster would go berserk like that."

Relief flickered across Harry's face.

At that moment, the reinforced greenhouse door swung open—one of the few things that hadn't been damaged.

Lupin stepped out, blinking at the chaotic scene. "What on earth happened here? An earthquake?"

Vison and Harry exchanged a look.

"No," Vison replied smoothly. "Nothing serious. Actually, you're just in time—help me tidy up the shop."

Without another word, Vison turned and stepped inside, leaving behind a very confused Lupin.

For Vison, structural damage was minor. A few spells and everything could look as good as new. The real problem was the attention this incident would attract. Even in this secluded area, someone had definitely seen something.

Sure enough, when he glanced outside, he spotted several Muggles lingering nearby, staring at the shop with curious eyes.

With a grim sigh, Vison raised his wand. "Obliviate."

One by one, he cast memory-erasing spells on everyone in sight, just to be safe.

But in the end, it wasn't the Muggles who reported the disturbance.

It was the Ministry of Magic.

Apparently, the magical burst from the Biting Cabbage's transformation was strong enough to leave obvious traces in the area. Traces the Ministry couldn't ignore.

By that evening, news had reached the Ministry: "Unusual magical activity detected in a Muggle neighborhood."

Since Vison was the only wizard living in the vicinity, the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad wasted no time narrowing down their suspect.

That night, they arrived in force, investigating the potted plant shop from top to bottom.

Vison had half a mind to deny everything. But then the lead investigator pulled out a photo and placed it in front of him.

It showed the exact moment the Biting Cabbage burst through the roof, though from a clever angle that hid the cabbage's identity.

Vison was speechless. There was no denying it now.

His curiosity got the better of him. "Where did you get this photo?"

The investigator, clearly in a good mood after an easy case, smiled indulgently. "A little backtracking magic. Not something just anyone can master."

Vison sighed and rubbed his forehead again. Of course.
