After finally finishing the pleasantries with some of the elites in the hall, Iron Man and Pepper finally had a moment to themselves and slipped away.
"Tony, is that really you?"
But before they could even catch their breath, a very familiar voice rang out.
Iron Man was not at all unfamiliar with that voice. He instinctively turned his head and saw that it was indeed Justin Hammer, the clown.
"What an annoying guy."
Iron Man pretended not to hear, and instead, unreservedly said to Pepper.
Iron Man had never really liked Justin Hammer, especially after knowing that this guy would team up with Ivan Vanko to deal with him in the future, making him like him even less.
"It really is you, Tony!"
But Justin Hammer still walked up to Iron Man, his face a picture of insincerity. "You know, you're not the only rich guy with a fancy car."
The two began to trade insults.
"Excuse me."
After a few perfunctory words with Justin Hammer, Iron Man greeted Pepper and walked away.
No one paid much attention to Iron Man's departure. At most, they thought he was going to the restroom, or perhaps he'd spotted some lonely girl who needed rescuing.
But soon, the entire hall erupted in a frenzy.
Because on the several televisions hanging in the hall, Iron Man's figure began to appear.
And those televisions were used to simultaneously broadcast the car race outside.
Iron Man, in a racing suit, was on television, chatting to the camera on a racetrack.
"If you had a race car, what would you do with it?"
"Race it, of course! What else would you do?"
"Stark, are you going to race?"
"Absolutely, I'm going to race!"
The crowd on the scene erupted in cheers, and the hall was abuzz.
No one expected someone of Iron Man's stature to actually participate in a race!
"My God!"
Pepper's mouth was agape. She finally understood what Iron Man meant when he told her to "go with the flow" when she first arrived.
"Happy, do you know he's racing?" Pepper immediately pulled out her phone and dialed Happy.
"Who's racing?" Happy didn't understand what Pepper was talking about, so naturally, he didn't know anything about it.
Next, Pepper tried to contact the racing committee, but she was flustered and couldn't find the relevant personnel before Iron Man had already gotten into the race car.
There was no way to stop him now.
Pepper could only nervously watch the TV screen, silently praying that Iron Man, her reckless and highly unreliable boss, wouldn't get into any trouble.
Meanwhile, Justin Hammer, along with everyone else in the hall, had stopped what they were doing and gathered in front of the TV, focused on the race.
A billionaire randomly showing up to race cars – only Iron Man could pull something like this off. It was simply too explosive.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the race officially began.
One race car after another shot forward like arrows released from a bowstring, weaving left and right on the track, dazzling everyone.
Many drivers performed exceptionally well, but Iron Man stole the show.
What no one noticed was that, as the race was in full swing, a burly staff member, a toothpick hanging from his mouth, looked at the race cars on the track with a sneer.
Then, he left his post and walked against the flow of the track, entering it through a pre-opened gap.
"Where did this guy come from?"
"Who is he, and what is he doing!"
Everyone was in an uproar, wondering what had gotten into the man, that he would run onto the track.
Is he suicidal?
Without a doubt, that burly man was the Ivan Vanko that Iron Man had been searching for.
Ivan Vanko strode confidently onto the racetrack, treating the busy track like a leisurely park path, taking a relaxed stroll.
Whoosh!
The roar of a race car engine filled the air. Ivan Vanko put his hands together, and two long whips materialized in his grasp.
As the device activated, dazzling arcs of electricity crackled along the Electric Whips. Ivan Vanko's clothes began to burn in the intense heat.
Holding the two Electric Whips, bathed in flames, Ivan Vanko advanced with incredible swagger.
Soon, a race car appeared in front of Ivan Vanko. He didn't dodge or evade, but continued striding towards the vehicle.
Just when everyone was wondering what Ivan Vanko intended to do, he suddenly swung his Electric Whip, lashing out at the race car.
Crack!
That race car was directly sliced in half by Ivan Vanko!
The entire race track immediately descended into chaos.
"An Arc Reactor, that's an Arc Reactor! Who exactly is that guy!"
Justin Hammer's eyes lit up immediately, even becoming somewhat excited. That was an Arc Reactor!
As long as he could get his hands on that thing, replicating Stark's Iron Man armor would no longer be a dream.
"No matter who that guy is, I must have him!" Justin Hammer silently made his decision.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
On the television, the mighty Ivan Vanko swung the Electric Whip in his hand, and three or four race cars were sliced in half in a row.
"Oh my God, Tony!"
Pepper covered her mouth in nervousness, feeling like she couldn't breathe.
This wasn't Stark Tower. Tony didn't have the Iron Man armor. What if that dangerous madman targeted Tony? What then?
"Pepper!"
Happy quickly joined Pepper. Seeing the images on the television, he was equally speechless.
Without wasting any words, they immediately got in a car and sped towards the race track to rescue Iron Man.
However, before they could arrive, Iron Man's race car had already reached Ivan Vanko.
At that moment, everyone in the race track held their breath.
Could it be that the billionaire, the world-renowned genius, was going to die at the hands of that madman?
Wham!
Ivan Vanko, as expected, also used his Electric Whip to flip Iron Man's race car, right in front of everyone's eyes.
Boom, boom, boom!
Iron Man's half-destroyed race car began to violently tumble several times along the track.
Fortunately, Iron Man had fastened his seatbelt, preventing him from being killed in the crash.
