Chapter 12 — The Prisoner Whom Only Darkness Remembered
40th floor.
What used to be a dead end has now opened. The Hulk's pulse matched the rhythm of the wall — and the rock, as if alive, parted, revealing a passage into a gray crack. The air was different. He smelled... of time.
There's only darkness and cold ahead.
We went with the Hulk:
Ais — the sword sparkles in her hand, walking beside her without words.
• Riveria — magic seals are ready.
Gray is a silent giant. He and the Hulk understand each other without words.
• Tione and Tione are twins who trust the Hulk... even though they fear his power.
• Finn is a captain who can read even the breathing of the floor under his feet.
⸻
They entered. And the darkness closed behind them. Orario's light was gone.
"No mortal has ever set foot here. Riveria whispered. — I feel... the breakdown of time. Everything is forgotten here.
Suddenly, the walls began to... whisper.
"Chains..."
"Broken..."
"You're back..."
The Hulk stopped.
"This place… It feels me.
— Maybe this is the Heart? Ais whispered.
—No,— he replied. "It's not a heart. This is... what happened before him.
⸻
There was a cell at the back of the corridor, a massive one surrounded by magical seals as ancient as the Dungeon itself.
There was a rune on her door.:
"Forgotten. A Prisoner Without A Name. The Master of Chains."
As soon as the Hulk approached, the seals flashed and the door slowly opened.
The heavy rattle of chains came from inside.
— Ha... lk ... — a voice was heard, muffled, as if from blows to the skull. —You... took away my chains." You are their new host. But I was the first. And I remember... more than you can bear.
A human-like creature emerged from the camera, but distorted. His skin is dark like obsidian, his eyes are green like the Hulk's, but distorted with... malice. There are hundreds of chains on the body, absorbed into the flesh.
"Who are you?" Finn asked.
"He's the first fruit of rage. The first slave of the Dungeon. Hulk whispered. "I... remember him." Vaguely. When I was a kid, he whispered in my dreams. He was before me. It was broken. But... he didn't disappear.
"They called me the Prisoner." But now—I want a name. I'll take it from you. "The Hulk." It will be mine.
He lunged forward, and the world shook.
⸻
The fight was hell.
The Prisoner's chains beat like whips, tearing the stone. They tried to bind the Hulk, absorbing his rage.
But the Hulk did not give in. He flew into a rage, but in a controlled manner. His eyes flashed, his muscles tensed, and with a roar he took off, punching through the Prisoner's chest, slamming him into the wall.
"You won't take my name." It's mine! I pulled it out of the blood!
But the Prisoner... smiled, even with a punctured body.
"You still don't get it." You and I are one. I am the first rage. You're the last one. I'll leave... but I'll leave a mark for you. Once… You will become me.
He dissolved into dust, leaving behind a black chain with a pulsating mark.
The Hulk picked her up. And at that moment, his body flared up with renewed vigor.:
Received: Prisoner's Relic. Skill: "Chain Eater."
Allows you to absorb hostile chains and binding magics, turning them into power.
⸻
At the exit of the cave Ais asked:
"Are you afraid he was right?" That one day you'll become one?
The Hulk clutched the black chain.
— If I go alone, yes. But with you... I won't break down.
And somewhere, in the depths even lower, something woke up.
The next step is done. The chain is broken. But the key is inserted. The heart... is ready to open.
