OPRS: Chapter 3

"That's an extremely dangerous thing." A raspy, old voice suddenly came from behind, startling the man.

He thought he was alone in the room with the Empress. He felt relaxed, chatting with her, because she didn't have to maintain the air of an Amazonian Empress, her authority and dignity. He could be more casual.

But if there were others present, he had to maintain respect for the Empress's position in front of them.

It wasn't that he respected the position of the Emperor, but that those in power, those who held authority, needed such respect and dignity to command obedience.

If you didn't help maintain their authority, they would "maintain" you out of existence. This was what he learned from the Celestial Dragons.

He turned his head, seeing the small old woman who had appeared in the bedroom at some point. He didn't show any disrespect.

He recognized her. She was the former, former, former Empress of Amazon Lily, the key figure who brought the Empress and her sisters back from Fishman Island and nurtured the Empress. Though she had retired to the sidelines, she was still an indispensable figure in the entire Amazon Lily Kingdom.

She leaned on her cane, her height barely reaching five feet, slowly approaching the two. She looked at the young man and asked, "But what I'm curious about is how you know these secrets."

"As far as I know, a slave wouldn't have access to such things." She looked at the young man and asked, "Who are you?!"

"My name is Alistair." He stretched, rising from the cushion, his whole demeanor suddenly changing. He became refined and polite. He straightened his body and bowed to the old woman, who was barely five feet tall, "Formerly the steward of the Camael Saint Family, one of the twenty Celestial Dragon Families."

He appeared polite, his posture straight and spirited, a complete change from his previous lazy appearance.

Clearly, he was simply disguising himself. This disguise was perhaps the reason he was able to survive, even gain favor, under the Celestial Dragons.

"Because I'm too weak, the Camael Saint Family trusted me. Because they trusted me so much, I was practically in charge of all their business, so I knew almost all the secrets of the Celestial Dragons and the World Government's plans. And if you haven't become a Shichibukai yet, then what happens next will confirm my guess."

He shrugged, revealing another side of himself, then relaxed again. But his credibility increased significantly.

"So, what is your name, old lady?" He lowered his head, looking at the former, former, former Amazonian Queen, who was less than five feet tall.

He knew her, but he couldn't quite remember her name.

"Gloriosa." She looked at him with a stern expression. She had to admit he was incredibly valuable. Though the foolish pirates might not realize it, the smart and perceptive ones understood the value of information.

For example, knowing when to avoid the Marines, or where large amounts of treasure were gathered. This was why the World Economic Journal was so popular worldwide (the news bird that sold news all over the world every month). It was a necessity for pirates.

And now, a man who served as a steward in a Celestial Dragon family, knowing countless secrets of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons, was standing before them. They couldn't easily let him leave.

No, judging from his appearance, he didn't seem to have any intention of leaving.

"What is your goal?" Gloriosa, the short old woman, asked him, word for word.

This was the core of the issue.

He might not tell them his goal directly, but they could find clues in his answer.

"The heads of the Celestial Dragons." He extended a finger, uttering words that made the Empress's soul tremble.

"The dissolution of the World Government."

"The collapse of the Marines."

"And, the establishment of a new nation." He extended four fingers, looking at Gloriosa, but his gaze pierced through her, fixed on the highest leader of Amazon Lily, the future one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock.

"Beyond that, I have no other desires." He closed his eyes gently, exhaled, and slowly relaxed.

The wish he had buried in his heart for ten years could finally be expressed freely. He couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

"You want to become the Pirate King too?" Gloriosa looked at him in surprise. She never thought this man would have such ambition. Even though he was a slave, he had the ambition to become the Pirate King?

"Pirate King?" Alistair was stunned, then burst into laughter.

"Hahaha..." He covered his stomach, gasping for breath, tears streaming down his face. He laughed like he had heard the greatest joke in the world, laughing for a full twenty seconds before collapsing onto the floor, completely exhausted.

He got up, wiped away his tears, sat on the cushion, and looked at Gloriosa. "How could you have such a ridiculous idea? Wealth, freedom, status, adventure, the position of Pirate King represents many things, but it doesn't represent power."

He extended a finger and said, "Only one thing represents power, and that is the World Government."

"To be more precise, it's the people who control the World Government!"

"The Pirate King never represents power. Before becoming Pirate King, Roger was chased all over the world by the Marine hero, Garp. After becoming Pirate King, Roger was publicly executed and hanged by the Marines. After his death, his wife had to wait twenty months before she dared to give birth to his child. What power did he have? He left behind a chaotic world and nothing else. What's the point of being Pirate King?" He asked with a sneer.

The Empress and Gloriosa were both stunned by this madman's ramblings. Gloriosa couldn't help but sneer and mock, "So you want to usurp the throne?"

She wasn't talking about a country like Amazon Lily, which lived peacefully in the Calm Belt. She was talking about a World Government affiliate, a country that pays the Heavenly Tribute, participates in the World Conference every four years, and has the right to speak and vote in the World Government. This was incredibly important.

For example, Dressrosa, which was usurped by the future Warlord, Donquixote Doflamingo, and Arabasta, which was usurped by Crocodile, were both World Government affiliate countries. Once they usurped the kingdom and gained recognition from the World Government, they could legitimize their rule and gain a certain amount of influence in the World Government.

This was perhaps the ultimate path to redemption for pirates.

But hearing Gloriosa's words, Alistair let out a snort of disdain.
