Chapter 21

Nora's POV 

"You had it coming" I said while being a little irritated and Luke was rubbing his head where me and Kael had smacked him. I know he only meant it as a joke but it still pissed me off. "You guys are unbelievable" Luke said still rubbing his head. "What's unbelievable is you making such jokes" I said with a hint of irritation im my voice again. "Okay okay I apologize I won't do it again" He said putting his hands in air like he was giving up. "Good, now how far is the place where you have stored the drug, we've been walking for a while" I said looking around. Honestly I'm not too pleased with the idea of being in that 'life-death' State again but it's inevitable. 

"There's the elevator, it's on 8th floor we have to go down" Luke said pressing the buttons for elevator and all three of us went in. Also there is a question that has been bugging me for a while. "Hey Luke" I called out to him and he looked back immediately after pressing the button to the 8th floor "yes?" he asked with wonder evident on his face "I have a question..... If your master can think things into existence then why doesn't he think of a new way to run this technology without using the earth's core" Luke heard my question and gave me a smile. "You see that's the thing about human imagination, sometimes it's horribly limited. Master has tried before but it didn't work out.. Whatever other ways he could think of did not work for more than a few weeks, others have tried helping with their ideas too but it didn't work. In the end, this was the conclusion he came to" Luke said explaining and I nodded my head in understanding. The elevator opened after a few minutes and all three of us went out to the hallway. 

This floor had a lot of people but none of them seemed to have any awareness of what they were doing and looked..... Robotic? That makes sense since most of people in this world are under control of the Master but I didn't expect for people in the building to be like that too. Luke kept walking the long hallway and me and Kael kept following him silently until he stopped at one of the doors and entered the password to open it. He went inside and we followed him in. As soon as I got in I took in the room and the details. It looked like a lab storage. There were no people there but it looked like a lof of formulaes and chemicals were stored there. I looked around to see if there's sign of any soul here but no. It was just us which is much better. Luke went further in the lab looking for the drug. 

"Do you even have an ability that can help us defeat the Master?" I got startled by Kael's voice. He hasn't spoken directly to me for a while now. I thought he was still mad at me. "Well I have several abilities in mind but what type of ability do you suggest I should have?" I asked him and he seemed like he went deep in thought. "Something that wouldn't let him think at all, something that can just take away his thinking ability" Kael said while looking like he was deep in thought and suddenly turned to look at me again. "That's..... actually a brilliant idea but unfortunately I don't have such ability in any of the timelines and universes that I have been in" I said in a defeated tone and I could see he was disappointed but not surprised "of course you don't. Nevermind then" This bi- "hey you shouldn't curse out like that. He's also frustrated by all this and just needs it all to be over with" I heard Brigitte's voice in my head again, she has been quite for a while but it seemed like she decided to speak again. "yeah yeah whatever" I said not wanting to argue with Brigitte. "that's why I will curse him out for you. Who does he think he is being disappointed in you as if you aren't here giving him a huge favor. Not to mention he didn't even tell you beforehand that you had to come here with him and he has the audacity to be disappointed in you? Just because he is good looking and a man, he thinks he can order you around huh? Men never change." I was startled by Brigitte's outburst but it also made me laugh and feel better in some way it was like she said everything I couldn't say and even though no one else heard it. It made me feel much better. 

I couldn't say anything out loud to Kael after he reacted like that because Luke came back with the drug and a syringe. "Here we go. It's ready but the question is are you?" Luke said looking at me with concern. "Yeah I'll be fine, this body isn't mine anyway" I said which kind of sounded horrible but it was true. Luke smiled and said "I wasn't talking about the body, I was talking about mentally. Are you mentally prepared for this? It requires a lot of mental strength too you know". I almost smiled at his concern. " Thanks for the concern Luke but I'm fine and I'm glad at least someone cares about that" I said the last part taunting Kael and he just grunted in response. "I'm glad to hear it" Luke said smiling and started walking out of the room, we both followed him again. after walking for a few minutes Luke entered another room and this one was similar to Cecilia's. It was white and a bed was placed in the middle of the room. "Go ahead" Luke said and I understood. I moved forward and laid down on the bed and controlled my breathing, preparing myself for the drug. "Now it's gonna pinch a little" Luke said before injecting me with the syringe and I nodded in response while closing my eyes. "It'll take 3-4 minutes to kick in and I want you to clear your head during that time. Your Conciousness is getting ready to be detached to your body so I suggest you do not pay any attention to any sensations in your body right now" Luke said trying to prepare me and I could hear him well for a while but after certain period of time his voice grew blurry and I got dizzier and couldn't hear him at all. In the next few seconds I was completely lost into the darkness. 

Author's POV 

"Do you think she'll be fine" Luke asked Kael. "Yeah, she has done this before so she'll be fine for sure" Kael said without a hint of hesitation. "I hope so too or else it won't be good for either of us. You know what Master does to people who fail to live up to what they promised right? Now he knows that I have betrayed him so if we don't win this both of us would be doomed" Luke said with a serious face. He seemed to be stressing a lot over this although he seemed playful time to time, he was infact very worried about what has happened and Kael understood this so he hesitantly put his arm over Luke's shoulder. "It'll be fine. She may seem like she's an idiot but she's smart and powerful in her own ways. She'll figure something out. Have some faith in her" Kael said trying to make Luke feel better which in return earned him a bit of mocking from Luke. "You would never say that if she was awake right now would you?" Luke said in a taunting way but Kael just turned his head away and took a seat next to her bed. "Then again you've always been like that with all your colleagues, appreciating their help and understanding them but never showing it. You know it wouldn't kill you to let your colleagues know that you value their help and abilities" Luke said trying to get some sense into Kael about better communication with his collegues but just like always it didn't work. 

"How long do you think it's gonna take for her to finally come back to her senses?" Luke asked taking a seat next to Kael. "Last time it took a whole day for her to come back so I'm expecting the same this time" Kael responded thinking back to the first time when she 

got in this state and got her powers. He suddenly felt a pinge of guilt remembering how she said "at least someone cares about that" When Luke asked her if she was mentally prepared for it. He admitted to himself it was wrong of him to do that out of the blue but it was also necessary at least that's what he told himself. 

"Well then should we get back to Cecelia until she wakes up?" Luke suggested and Kael gave it a thought and nodded. They both got up to leave. Kael turned around to get one last look at Nora before leaving. "It's fine, I'll know when she wakes up. I have wrapped a bracelet around her wrist which will inform me as soon as she wakes up" Luke said reassuring Kael. 

"You know he probably knows that you're keeping Cecelia in your place" Kael said while walking next to him. "I have suspected that too and if it's true then it's weird and suspicious that he has allowed it to go on for so long" Luke said with a hint of tension in his tone. "We can never know what he's thinking afterall huh? " Luke said in defeat and Kael didn't say anything to that. 

They arrived at Cecilia's room expecting her to be reading the book she was reading last time but what greeted them wasn't Cecelia reading a book.

 It was her in a pool of blood
