Chapter 52: Secret Weapon?!

They had never seen such a sight before. [Tendo Bansho] inherently involved dropping a star rock from the sky.

Crucially, the mass and volume of this star rock scaled with Elliot's Max HP. If Elliot's previous [Tendo Bansho] was like a meteor, then this star rock was practically an entire planet crashing down.

The spectacle was therefore incredibly grand!

"Could this be Lord Ronandt's secret weapon?" Julius gaped at the sky, his mouth hanging open.

Others shared the Hero's thought. So, Lord Ronandt's long preparation wasn't just for Hellfire Magic! Lord Ronandt directly summoned a star!

In the distance, countless people saw the star falling from the sky, utterly stunned by the domineering and shocking scene.

Such terrifying magic... is it really something a human can summon? It completely surpassed anyone's imagination. But the appearance of such magic was undoubtedly a massive morale boost for the human side.

When the star rock descended, the weaker spiders within its range were instantly crushed by the immense damage. The larger spider monsters among them were petrified.

Ronandt still didn't quite understand what had happened, but the sight of the giant spider monsters petrified before him was definitely a golden opportunity.

Without a second thought, he intensified his efforts, and a super-wide-range Hellfire Magic descended simultaneously. Fire itself was highly effective against spider monsters, and Hellfire Magic was the superior form of ordinary fire magic.

The flames, like coiling dragons, raged madly through the spider horde. The enormous amount of EXP pouring into him in that instant made Ronandt almost disbelieve his senses!

Due to the giant star rock's impact, combined with the enhancement of Hellfire Magic, these two heaven-defying destructive skills swept through the area like a broom, wiping out more than half of the hundred thousand spider monsters.

Ronandt's gaze went past this scene, towards the plains beyond. The Hellfire Magic he cast [Scorched Earth] had burned all the spiders both inside and outside the city to cinders.

Although the city walls and gates within the attack range were also destroyed, considering he had successfully defended the entire city, such damage was relatively minor.

He had miraculously repelled the invading enemy. And the one who accomplished this great feat was Ronandt. At least, that's what the world believed.

"So amazing, Lord Ronandt!"

"Is this the true power of humanity's foremost mage? I can't imagine this is power a human can possess!"

"We're saved! Lord Ronandt will lead us to victory!" People cheered, warriors wept with joy, and many embraced each other! With such a hero, they no longer had to fear monster invasions!

"Such power... it's too strong!" Hero Julius witnessed the scene, his heart filled with admiration for Lord Ronandt. He had heard of Lord Ronandt, humanity's foremost mage, before.

As a Hero, he deeply respected him, but he had never personally witnessed the true strength of this top mage. And today, he had seen it with his own eyes and was thoroughly shaken!

"...If I also had such power..." Julius murmured. He, too, wanted to protect the entire human world, just like Lord Ronandt!

The once overwhelming horde of a hundred thousand spider monsters was instantly cleared.

Many spider monsters on the outskirts remained, but their total number was less than a tenth of the original force!

Ronandt stared at the plains before him. Nothing remained on the scorched earth except for the massive crater left by the fallen star. Wisps of black smoke from the burned spider monsters drifted in the air.

Unlike the cheering crowd, Ronandt was a practical man. The lord who had summoned the Heavenly Star just now... should be nearby.

Ronandt had sensed a brief but extremely explosive surge of magic power. Though fleeting, Ronandt firmly believed that the one who cast Heavenly Star was hidden among the crowd... His [Scorched Earth] Hellfire Magic hadn't actually wiped out the spider army; it was being suppressed by the spiders' abilities.

If not for that lord's power, he definitely couldn't have easily eliminated so many spider monsters.

Because at that moment, he was about to run out of MP, on the verge of mental exhaustion, so he didn't know what kind of magic that lord had used.

However, Ronandt was certain it was a powerful figure who had intervened. Otherwise, with his own strength, he could never have wiped out such a large spider army, nor could he have summoned a star!

What is the ultimate purpose of pursuing magic? To be saved by others? No, it should be to save others.

In his youth, Ronandt had used magic to solve many threats for the empire, but he could never solve them all because the empire was constantly at war with the demon race.

However, after the Demon Lord changed and the previous Sword Emperor and Hero disappeared almost simultaneously, humans and demons had been in a strange state of peace.

Perhaps because this period had been too long, Ronandt had forgotten his original purpose.

Pursuing the pinnacle of magic should have been a means to an end, but it had unknowingly become the end itself.

After his battle with the Nightmare of the Labyrinth, Ronandt keenly felt his own powerlessness.

But after seeing the star summoned by that lord, he realized just how insignificant he truly was.

There were always people stronger, heavens beyond heavens. He would never reach the level of summoning a star. He was still too inexperienced.

An unusually large amount of EXP flowed into Ronandt's body. Hiss— Ronandt took a deep breath.

This influx of experience directly raised him five levels. His Hellfire Magic had only killed eight or nine thousand critically injured spider monsters; the rest were killed by the Heavenly Star.

Even so, the EXP he received was enough to level him up four times. He couldn't imagine how much EXP that lord must have gained.

But such a powerful figure probably didn't care about EXP anymore.

"Level increased to 36," Elliot exhaled, hidden within the crowd. He possessed divine power.

Even without the System created by D, he could rely on his own strength. However, this world's System was created by the Evil God D; it was her [Divine Domain].

One mountain cannot hold two tigers. He couldn't casually use divine power from other worlds within her domain.

Since he was within the System, he had to follow its rules for now. His own Divine Domain was currently protecting Kumoko during her evolution.

Without his domain active here, he couldn't use his divine power within D's System and could only rely on System-based abilities in combat.

So, leveling up was crucial for him, as he urgently needed more power. It would determine the outcome of this battle.

Beyond the flames, looking at the bottomless crater, countless spiders were reduced to mangled limbs, their deaths gruesome.

The Queen Taratect's eight crimson eyes showed a hint of sorrow.

Although she didn't have much affection for her offspring with [Egg Laying LV 10], she could produce thousands of eggs a day suffering such a huge loss, including a considerable number of Level 30 elite monsters, was still a blow to her efforts.

She could clearly sense Kumoko within the city, but an invisible force was blocking her perception.

Expanding her sensory range had no effect.

After all, Kumoko was shielded by a Divine Domain. Forget the Queen Taratect; even the Evil God D couldn't detect Kumoko secretly evolving right now.

Finally, the Queen Taratect made her decision. Flatten this city! Dig three feet deep if necessary to drag that spider out!

At this moment, the smiles on the faces of everyone in Flamebright City suddenly froze. Outside the city, that giant spider monster threw its head back and let out a mournful shriek!

The Queen Taratect... was finally going to make her move personally!

….

Having humans fight the Queen Spider would be a one-sided slaughter. Demon Lord Ariel had created five Queen Taratect monsters, treating them all as her daughters, and this one was no exception.

Before the humans could even prepare, she opened her mouth, and a city-destroying cannon blast erupted.

A torrent of pitch-black energy spewed forth, obliterating everything in its path, including the city walls.

The granite walls instantly crumbled, creating a gaping hole so large that even a giant mammoth could pass through unhindered.

"Scatter!" The Hero roared at the crowd gathered in the city. Against a stat monster like this, numbers meant nothing. Too many weak individuals would only become a burden.

Those ordinary people, having witnessed Lord Ronandt's world-shattering attack, had mistakenly believed the monster invasion was over.

They had been running around spreading the good news, thinking the crisis had passed. Hearing Hero Julius's shout, some of them actually scoffed.

They felt that with Lord Ronandt protecting them, what was there to fear? The Hero's commanding tone even sparked a rebellious streak in some.

The next moment, the black energy beam tore through the city wall and rampaged through the city. Countless people were caught in its path, instantly vaporized, beyond even divine salvation. If people were determined to die, there was truly nothing anyone could do to save them.

Elliot stood firm amidst the tremors, looking at the large, fan-shaped area behind him that had been flattened by the Queen Taratect.
