[18] Tamamo-no-Mikoto and Dōhan

The moment Yuhara opened his eyes, he immediately felt the terrifying surge of power within them.

It was a cold, oppressive, and destructive force that radiated outward. Even he couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine. Fortunately, he quickly gained control over the leaking chakra and reined it back in.

Still, he could tell that his control over this power was far from refined. But he didn't mind. After all, he had only just awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Like every other level of the Sharingan, the Mangekyō wasn't something you could master instantly. It required battle-hardened experience and continual refinement. Sasuke's journey in the original timeline was a good example of that.

Of course, Yuhara had no plans to emulate Sasuke's approach. That guy had pushed himself so hard after awakening his Mangekyō that he blinded himself in less than a month. But Sasuke had a safety net—Itachi's eyes.

Yuhara didn't have that luxury.

He was alone. His parents had both died in the war, and there was no chance of a younger sibling being born to bail him out. Even if there were, he wouldn't go down that path. Simply put, Yuhara didn't have the leeway to play games with his eyesight like Sasuke did.

"Well… maybe not entirely. I do have a system, right? Who knows, I might be able to draw something later to restore my vision."

He muttered to himself while remaining still. His body was still reeling from the pain of his evolution. It would take some time to recover.

Besides, new information was bubbling up in his mind—insights that came with the awakening of his Mangekyō Sharingan. These were not just memories; they were the abilities granted by his eyes.

Each Mangekyō evolved from the user's deepest obsession—what they desired most in the moment of awakening. For Yuhara, it was overwhelming: he had wanted strength, more and more of it, so that he could survive, fight, and rise above.

And so his eyes reflected that obsession.

His left eye granted the ability called Tamamo-no-Mikoto—a technique that reduced the cost and difficulty of using Susanoo. Normally, freshly awakened Mangekyō users couldn't wield Susanoo at all. It was far too demanding. But thanks to this power, Yuhara could already access the most basic form: ribcage defense.

That alone was already an incredible advantage.

His right eye's ability was called Dōhan, and it could enhance the power of all his techniques—genjutsu, ninjutsu, even taijutsu. All of it.

It reminded him a little of Sage Mode, though the specifics were unclear. He didn't have Sage Mode himself, so it was hard to make a fair comparison.

"These powers are so straightforward and overwhelmingly strong… almost too similar to Madara's abilities."

Yuhara frowned slightly after analyzing the powers flowing from his pupils.

Madara's Mangekyō abilities had never been explicitly revealed in the original work, but everyone remembered him for one thing: sheer dominance. His offensive power, his mastery over jutsu, and his fully developed Susanoo made him a force of nature.

He didn't need flashy tricks. Just by standing there, he could instill dread.

And yet, the only visual jutsu Madara ever displayed was Susanoo. No kamui. No amaterasu. Just brute force and overwhelming pressure.

It made Yuhara wonder: what if Madara's Mangekyō abilities had been just like his?

One ability to reduce Susanoo's cost. Another to amplify his techniques.

It would explain everything.

"Still, whether it overlaps with Madara or not, these powers are damn useful to me."

Yuhara didn't get something showy like Kamui or Amaterasu, but he wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Practical and deadly—that's what mattered.

Then the second batch of information popped up. It was a system notification—one he hadn't had a chance to review until now.

『Congratulations, host. You have awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.』

『The Mangekyō is a powerful tool that will allow you to reshape and save your crumbling clan.』

『Host has gained +1,000 points for this breakthrough.』

『Current Binding: Uchiha Clan』

『Clan Status: Critical — Internal division is severe; external threats loom.』

『Prosperity Level: 10,848 (Normal baseline: 10,000)』

『Note: The above prosperity is temporarily boosted due to the strength of host and Shisui. This is unstable.』

『Suggestion: Stabilize the internal situation of the clan. Unite all those who can be united. Face the storm together.』

『Reward: One free ability draw.』

Option 1: Kenjutsu – Dance of the Waterbird

Derived from the flowing sword style, this elegant blade technique mimics the grace of waterbirds and allows manipulation of wind. (Wind Release can be acquired if currently unavailable.)

Option 2: Earth Release – Granite Shield

A defensive jutsu that forms a chakra-reinforced granite shield capable of blocking one full attack. (Earth Release can be acquired if currently unavailable.)

Option 3: Water Release – Wave Stride

A movement enhancement technique that grants exceptional speed while on water to both the user and their allies. (Water Release can be acquired if currently unavailable.)

Reading through the choices, Yuhara was a little dazed—but also thrilled.

"So evolving to Mangekyō gives a thousand points. Still feels kinda low…"

Then again, this was a system that decided a Jonin was worth 2.5 Genin. He probably shouldn't expect miracles.

But the real surprise came when he considered something else: he'd also been awarded a thousand points when Shisui joined him.

That had to mean… Shisui might already have his own Mangekyō Sharingan.

That thought made Yuhara genuinely excited. With two Mangekyō users on the same team, the possibilities were endless.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, he felt a presence and turned around.

It was Shisui—running straight toward him, face tense, only to freeze the moment he saw Yuhara's eyes.

His expression shifted from concern to outright shock.
