"It's been 10 years since this happened last," a draggy voice spoke, its tone filled with despair.
The person speaking was one of Hadon's three elders, who stood atop the edge of Sylza Towing, gazing at the beautiful structure of all three Districts. His eyes lowered in sadness, his hands closed tightly into fists.
"All this occurred since the appearance of that boy known as Hyosung," Sylzaos shrieked, his pitch heightened at the peak of the silence left by the 12 Nobles that watched. Sadness loomed over each and every one of their faces.
"No, Sylzaos," a Noble cut in on Sylzaos's ranting, moving towards him. "How much longer are you going to blame others for your mistakes?" His subtle voice chimed, each footstep in rhyme with his silver coat, displaying his grace and elegance.
"What the hell do you mean?" Sylzaos replied, his face reddened as he turned towards the Noble.
Both men were nearly ready to brawl, their eyes reading each other's movements.
"Don't you both dare try anything stupid," another Noble cut in. His strict command dared not be crossed.
"Uh?" Both men froze in their positions without haste.
The man who spoke was known as Yadohabi, the 6th Noble originating from the Middle Class District. The oldest Noble head recorded, to be 75 years or so, his time in power grew shorter along with his span, his clan searching for a new leader amongst its youth.
The other was named Weldy, the inheritor of the 5th Noble heritage, originating from the Middle Class District as well. Pioneering as the youngest to reach the status of a Noble head at 18 years, truly only someone with an indiscernible talent such as his could attain such a position.
The rest of them were heads of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th... 12th, excluding the three Elders. All a variety of both genders, though the majority were dominated by males.
"This isn't a time to be bickering amongst ourselves!" The first Elder's pained words put a cease on the internal conflict. "In case you haven't noticed, our heaven has been infiltrated once more, and who or whatever it is may have a mana count of 6.5Mz, yet you're here bickering!" His pained voice raged, gritting his teeth against each other, slamming his aged fist against the plateau's surface.
BANG!
His words cut through their ears, piercing their hearts like daggers. Their weight was heavy, like boulders pressing their heads to the ground, each hand clenched tightly into a fist.
"Elder sir! Do we have any information on the trespasser?" Weldy asked.
"No, its presence seemed to have disappeared after slaughtering some guards," his words sank deeper into despair.
"Our best bet is on Mintugakye, but he's not ready. At least not yet," Sylzaos's murmur shrieked in the absurd silence.
"And Urane, where is she? Without her, we might crash and burn into the ground. Not a single life will remain," the second Elder trembled as he spoke.
"I... I don't know," Sylzaos replied with a blunt answer, his eyes narrowed in confusion, nearly lost in thought, emptiness gripping his chest tightly.
"Then it doesn't matter," Yadohabi conjured. "We, the Noble clans, will use our power to protect Hadon with our very lives," his shaky voice filtered with determination.
"Yeah!" All the Nobles exclaimed in agreement.
Though at the back of their minds, they knew it would be far from a piece of cake. Sacrifices would be made in the process, but it was a fate most unavoidable.
"Um... might I add," a timid female's voice split through their thoughts, her words filled with unease, barely making it out her trembling lips like whispers.
"What if... what if... that boy, uh, what's his name, um, uh, Hyosung... what if that boy Hyosung is somehow... behind it?" Her hesitant words bore a greater impact as she concluded.
The possibility flooded t
heir minds like rivers, eyes and mouths widened.
"So tell me, Hyosung, what brings my beloved abode?" Helbert asked Hyosung, his voice quirky without a hint of malice to be detected. Not to mention, his silly features, like his badly trimmed beard and pierced ears with no earrings, made his presence lighter.
"I don't know why I'm here," Hyosung replied, his bruised body healing almost miraculously.
His cell was spacious, like an empty room. Its palisade seemingly non-existent, with hollow walls and floors nowhere to be found. Its gems, larger in number, radiated sharper rays on a focal point, at which he was restrained by chains.
Shackles placed on his neck, hands, and feet, binding him to a tall pole triple his size - a merely generous way of describing it, at least.
Hyosung's eyes dulled, his body and face purple, yet not as a result of the gems' light. His attention barely focused on Helbert, though the cell's walls called attention to his voice frequently.
"You're not even listening, are you, Hyosung?"
"....."
"Hyosung!" His lax scream turned to loud roars as it reverberated through the sealed room.
"Huh!" His sharpened reply birthed from shock.
Stretching a friendly smile on his face, his sigh short yet heartfelt, "You and my brother Ein Hel are exactly the same. I haven't seen him since I got sentenced 6 years ago, but I hope he's grown up big and strong."
"Uh huh," his focus shifted from Helbert once more, staring at the dimly lit floors.
"Bing! Bing!"

'This is crazy!' His thoughts exclaimed, many questions and curiosities rushing through at once, brewing a storm in his head.
'But I don't understand something. Why am I a background character?? And why aren't my stats showing my actual stats? I'm a bit confused, though what confuses me more is the name of this book. Like, how does any of this help me at all??' His pondering mind raced with many questions.
Raising his brow in confusion, his stare intensified, which Helbert found odd, as from his perspective, he had a fixated obsession with the purple-lit floor.
"All in all, after 4 years, I was rewarded for my good behavior, and though I couldn't be released from my sentence, they at least gave me a high position amongst the prison guards," he cheerfully chatted on, either way.
"Though if I had one regret, it's the fact I haven't gone outside this place in the last 6 years, nor seen my brother in that time. I hope Ein Hel's out there enjoying his best life. At least that way, I'll be happy."
Striking him out of his daze-like trance.
"Oh, yeah... I also left my brother alone. I wonder how he's been doing all this time," Hyosung's thoughts leaked out.
His dull gaze fell to the floor, lines formed and stretched across his forehead as though drawn, a scowl shaping throughout his face at the slight thought.
"You have a brother?" Helbert's voice bricked, his intrigue peaked.
Redirecting his gaze to Helbert once again, "....."
His silence spoke volumes.
"I see. Forgive me for asking, I'll be on my way," he concluded, his eyes shut in satisfaction, like he'd taken something sweet. A smile firmly plastered on his face as he backed Hyosung, making his way to the cell's dimly lit exit, taking sluggish steps on his way out.
CLANG!
The concrete door shut upon Laben's exit.
"Finally, he's gone!" Hyosung rejoiced.
Placing his full attention on the transparent panel.
"As I thought, this book is almost the same as one of my previous works that I never completed. But what would one of my failed novels be doing on the system, and how does it help?" He muttered beneath his breath.
"Hmmm, what if..."

"What the hell did I just read? Like, bro, what?? Don't tell me I got myself in this much shit for a cringepoem!!" His saddened voice echoed throughout, reverberating loudly for only him to hear.
Or at least he thought...
Outside his cell, in the dark cave right beside, another figure lurked quietly, observing Hyosung, its back pressed against the wall, arms crossed.
Its snowy white cloak worn stylishly, with a sword hilt tucked out slightly, bandages wrapped around its ushanka, as though prepping for winter.
Why would anyone wear such attire underground? Not even the dim lights could...
"Hey, White, it's too late to be aura farming in the afternoon," Helbert scolded in a quirky tone, his grin silly.
"It's never too late to aura farm, little kid," her response rude and uncalled for.
"But there's literally no reason for you to do it. There's no one even watching," his eyes welled up in tears, though his expression held more life than despair.
"Just shut the hell up!" Her voice roared. "I've come to ask whether you're willing to vouch for him, or you agree with his punishment."
His quirky expression vanished like smoke, lips stiffening in place, eyes locked on White, purple light vaguely smeared across his face.
"He might actually be useful to you more than to Urane, White," his friendly turned cold.
His words made a smile grow across her devoid face, not even the gems' glow could bring out light from her lifeless eyes.
