Chapter 50: Shadows of Deceit

Jinsei's breath came in ragged gasps, his body pushed to its limit as he faced the enemy deep within the ruins. The atmosphere was thick with tension, the ruins themselves seeming to close in like a cage.

The villain smiled coldly, eyes glinting with cruel amusement. "Right about now… your teammates are retreating back to Shinzai."

Jinsei's brow furrowed. "What? Why? What did you do?"

The enemy took a step closer, voice low and venomous. "I had one of my clone beasts sneak into your squad—an exact replica of you."

Jinsei's eyes widened. "A clone? But…"

The villain cut him off. "That beast hurt your comrades badly—stabbed them, broke their trust. Now your team thinks you betrayed them."

Jinsei's fists clenched. "You used me as a weapon against them…"

"Precisely." The enemy's grin deepened. "Divide and conquer, Jinsei. While your team's fractured, Shinzai's defenses will be weaker. And you—isolated and hunted by your own people—will fall easily."

Jinsei's heart pounded with fury and helplessness. "I won't let that happen."

The villain raised a hand, summoning a shadowy blade. "Then come. Fight me. If you win, maybe you still have a chance to fix what I broke."

With a burst of speed, the enemy disappeared into the shadows, leaving Jinsei alone in the ruins—but the weight of the betrayal pressed heavily on his shoulders.

He knew one thing for certain: the battle wasn't just against monsters or villains anymore. It was now a fight for trust, survival, and the very soul of Shinzai.
