Smoke still lingered in the ruins of the tower. Debris crumbled from above, the once-proud walls now cracked and scorched. Deep in the center of it all—Kael's body lay still.
His arm, pierced and nearly torn from his side, bled freely. His breathing had long stopped. His lifeless eyes stared at the ceiling he once stood beneath with pride.
Then—
Three streaks of power tore through the sky and slammed into the ruined hall.
Ryuu.Tetsu.Kaede.
They landed with force, eyes scanning in panic—until they saw him.
Kael.
Their friend. Their brother.
Lying there, dead.
Tetsu's voice cracked. "No… no, no, no!"
Kaede froze mid-step, horror painting his usually calm face.
Ryuu clenched his fists, eyes wide in disbelief. "This… this isn't…"
A low voice echoed from above.
"So you won't bring him back?"
They looked up.
Zaros floated there, his golden energy pulsing with unnatural calm. His face unreadable. His body unscathed.
Kaede's jaw tightened. "You…"
Zaros descended slowly, eyes cold. "He won't be reborn this time. He's coming with me."
Without another word, he reached down, gripped Kael's body by the collar—and vanished in a blink of golden light.
Ryuu and Tetsu rushed forward. "No—!"
They looked through the hole in the tower wall, their senses stretching as far as they could reach.
Nothing.
No trace.
No aura.
Kael was gone.
