Chapter 61: The Return of the Rogue

The cave was silent, lit only by flickers of dying torches and the faint hum of residual Will energy in the air.

Jinsei Kairo stood alone, surrounded by the remains of shattered stone and claw marks etched deep into the cavern walls. His training was complete.

For four brutal years, he had bled, fought, and clawed his way through every trial Zaros had thrown at him. Every scar on his body told a story. Every heartbeat carried the weight of vengeance.

Behind him, a ripple of golden light shimmered.

Zaros appeared from the darkness, arms crossed, face unreadable.

"You're finally done." His voice was calm—but distant. "You've grown. Stronger. Faster. Sharper. And still… filled with rage."

Jinsei turned slowly, the bandage across his cheek twitching slightly as he smirked. "I only trained for one reason."

Zaros narrowed his eyes. "To kill me?"

"To finish what you started," Jinsei said coldly. "You took Kael. You turned me into an outcast. Every day, I've trained to end you."

A low chuckle escaped Zaros's lips. "Then you better hurry."

He turned to leave, his cloak of golden light swirling behind him.

"I've just sent some of my favorites to your little city."

Jinsei's eyes widened. "What?"

Zaros looked over his shoulder.

"Shinzai. I've sent powerful beasts—twisted Wielders born from the Abyss. You might want to move quickly… if you still care about them."

Jinsei's fists clenched. "You… you want to force me to protect them, even when they hate me."

Zaros shrugged. "You're still a rogue to them, Kairo. A villain in their story. Just remember that next time they raise a blade against you."

He took one step into the shadows, fading from view.

"But the next time you see me… I'll have the most powerful group of fighters this world has ever seen. Be ready to die."

The light vanished.

Jinsei stood alone.

Heart pounding.

But instead of anger… he smiled.

A small, excited, defiant smile.

Outside the cave, for the first time in four years, the wind touched his face again. The world felt unfamiliar… but alive.

He tightened the belt around his waist, pulled his hood low, and whispered to himself:

"This isn't over. I'm coming back. Not as a hero. Not as a villain."

His crimson Will flickered around his fingers.

"But as the one who ends this."

With a step forward, Jinsei vanished in a streak of red energy, soaring across the landscape.

Toward Shinzai.

Toward the beasts.

Toward redemption—or ruin.
