Dai Chengfeng furrowed his brows, feeling the icy chill emanating from the tip of his finger—a foreign energy untainted by any low-grade malice.
For a moment, a phrase inexplicably came to mind…
"To destroy you is none of your concern?"
This energy was exactly like that!
It seemed utterly disinterested in everything, existing solely for slaughter and destruction—pure and absolute!
"It's neither soul power nor Innate Origin Metal Qi."
"Instead, it's a unique energy that bears some resemblance to killing intent but is completely different—more refined, advanced, and perfectly surpassing ordinary killing intent?"
Dai Chengfeng looked down at this unfamiliar energy, which, even as a single thread, instinctively instilled fear in both soul power and killing intent.
He was one hundred percent certain!
Such a special energy had never existed within him before; otherwise, he would have noticed it.
"So, when and where did I acquire this energy?"
"And though it feels strange, why does it also instinctively feel familiar, as if I've seen it somewhere before…?"
But before he could finish his thoughts, Dai Chengfeng suddenly became dazed. "I… remember now!"
"That divine throne!"
Dai Chengfeng abruptly stood up, excitement surging through him. He finally understood why this energy felt so strangely familiar.
He had truly encountered it before!
It was during his first entry into that crimson space—the 'dream' he had while unconscious after the bloody battle of Wu'an.
In that 'dream,' he wasn't sure whether everything was reality or illusion, nor did he know it might be a path to godhood through faith…
Thus, out of curiosity, he had attempted to approach the divine throne, wanting to see the view atop it.
The result?
Halfway there, he was stopped by this very energy, unable to advance further.
After waking up, the details of that 'dream' had become extremely hazy, which was why he initially felt this energy was both strange and familiar.
"If we say…"
"This energy originates from that divine throne, then it must be the Power of the Asura God?"
Dai Chengfeng stared at the wisp of dark energy on his fingertip, his eyes flashing with surprise.
However, just as this thought arose, he shook his head. "No, it should be called the Power of Asura."
"After all, this energy in my fingertip doesn't come from the celestial God King Asura but from the fundamental rules of this world—the path to godhood."
"Therefore, I can freely control this energy, even nourish its growth with killing intent…"
"Just like my Slaughter God Domain, whose potential far surpasses those obtained through rewards for clearing the Hell Road of the City of Slaughter!"
"Perhaps those have a higher starting point, but…"
"Only the strength gained through one's own cultivation truly belongs to oneself!"
At this thought, Dai Chengfeng's eyes were filled with excitement.
He had no intention of ascending to godhood through faith. After all, in Chinese mythology, gods born from incense offerings were bound by shackles—or 'leashes'—controlled by the Celestial Court.
Though the world of Douluo lacked a Celestial Court, it had fundamental laws.
Thus, gods who ascended through faith would likely be constrained and restricted by these fundamental laws.
After all, the gods in the world of Douluo were clearly not free!
Once one became a god, they had to shoulder the responsibility of assisting the God King in managing other galaxies and planets. How was this different from the immortals of the Celestial Court?
Moreover, when reading the original Douluo story in his previous life, Dai Chengfeng had wondered…
If divine positions were truly so desirable, why did almost all gods pass them on?
Even going so far as to employ various means!
"If becoming a god only chains me with shackles, then I, Dai Chengfeng, will refuse such divinity!"
This was Dai Chengfeng's initial thought.
Thus, he decisively rejected the acknowledgment of the divine throne and shattered it with a spear.
But he never expected!
At the moment the throne was annihilated, he inadvertently absorbed a wisp of the scattered Power of Arrogance through the Innate Qi Technique!
This was an absolutely unexpected surprise!
"The Yellow Emperor's External Canon is incredible, and the Innate Qi Technique is even more incredible!"
For a moment, Dai Chengfeng felt deeply satisfied as he gazed at the wisp of Asura Power, which, even when fully gathered, was smaller than a grain of rice.
"Though it's minuscule, if it hits, even a Title Douluo might be injured, right?"
As for killing, Dai Chengfeng thought it unlikely.
It wasn't that the Power of Asura wasn't strong enough—it was that he himself was too weak.
Given how special this energy was, it would be hard for him to use it without being detected and evaded by stronger opponents whose soul power and physical abilities far surpassed his own.
But even so!
This wisp of the Power of the Asura God was undoubtedly Dai Chengfeng's newest and strongest trump card—a last-ditch weapon to turn the tide.
"Amazing!"
Dai Chengfeng laughed heartily, reabsorbing the Power of Arrogance into his body.
Then, he sat cross-legged again and silently circulated the Innate Qi Technique. "Ultimately, soul power is the foundation!"
---
The next morning
The rising sun pierced through the mist, dewdrops glistening on the leaves. Dai Chengfeng and Zhu Fan rose early.
At this moment, looking at the Great Star Dou Forest just a step away, Zhu Fan turned to Dai Chengfeng, his expression solemn as he cautioned, "Chengfeng, stay alert and stick close to me from now on."
"This place is not like the Tiger's Might Mountains. Anything can happen here."
"And remember!"
"The most terrifying thing in the Great Star Dou Forest isn't the soul beasts—it's human nature!"
Hearing this, Dai Chengfeng took a deep breath, gazing at the endless expanse of the Great Star Dou Forest. "Uncle, don't worry. I understand."
"Good. Let's get moving."
"Mm."
Dai Chengfeng nodded, following closely behind Zhu Fan as they entered the vast sea of trees, one after the other.
After they left, a gentle breeze brushed against the grass, the leaves rustling softly.
Aside from that, there was complete silence.
Time passed, unknowingly. The previously still air suddenly rippled with an almost imperceptible disturbance.
Several figures dressed in black appeared without warning near the campsite where Dai Chengfeng and Zhu Fan had stayed the night before.
Their movements were swift and silent, blending seamlessly with the surroundings.
The leader of the group was tall and imposing, his face stern, his eyes radiating a ruthless aura honed through countless killings.
He examined the flattened grass and traces left behind, frowning slightly as he crouched down and gently touched the ground, carefully inspecting the residual marks.
After a moment, he stood up, quickly scanning his companions, his voice low and steady.
"They haven't been gone long. The traces are still fresh."
Upon hearing this, the other black-clad figures' eyes flashed with excitement.
One of them, slightly shorter, couldn't help but lick his dry lips. "Finally, we have a lead."
"Chase!"
The leader nodded briefly, uttering a single word.
With that, he took off in the direction Dai Chengfeng and Zhu Fan had departed.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The others followed closely, their figures darting swiftly through the forest, leaving behind only fleeting shadows.
