"You bastard!" Elizabeth's eyes widened as she watched Benjamin walk to Miss Anderson.
"What do the two of you think you're doing?!" Elizabeth asked.
Miss Anderson looked at her and, with a serious face, said "We're going to help my father."
"You and that kid are going to do what now?!" Henry said from the doorway, capturing everyone's attention.
When they turned to look at him, they saw Jessica and Denison standing beside him—along with someone else.
It was an older-looking man wearing a finely tailored suit and carrying a briefcase in his hand.
"Who's that with you, Henry?" Elizabeth asked.
Just then, Henry smirked.
"This is Doctor Kingsley Davis. The leading man in human biogenetic engineering, and he came here all the way from India because I asked him to." Henry replied to his mother, then he looked at Miss Anderson.
"That's right—me, Dad's true heir, the one who's going to help him recover. But what about you, Anderson? Who did you bring besides a…" Henry's gaze swept over Benjamin from head to toe before he sneered in disgust.
"What a joke", Henry scoffed, then he looked at Doctor Kingsley.
"Doctor, please go and tend to my father. Accomplish what countless others have failed to do over the years. Wake him up so he can undo the mistake of naming that bastard as his second in command in case something was to happen to him," Henry said with a smirk.
"Of course, Mister Henry", Doctor Kingsley nodded, then he walked over to the bed and looked for where to drop his briefcase.
"Over here, doctor," said the doctor who was already there, pointing at the bedside cupboard.
"Oh, thank you", Doctor Kingsley replied, then took the suggestion and dropped the briefcase.
"Please don't thank me, doctor. It's not every day I get to meet a medical icon like yourself."
"You know me?" asked Kingsley as he opened his briefcase and took out his stethoscope.
"Of course, I know you, doctor. Who wouldn't recognize the man who spent the last decade developing what is essentially a miracle drug—one capable of curing almost all diseases and even reversing genetic defects if taken at an early age? You are truly an inspiration, such that I've attempted to follow in your footsteps and expand my medical knowledge, but I am nowhere near the greatness that is you."
Kingsley, who appreciated the praise, smirked.
"I didn't know I had a fan, but it's nice to see." Doctor Kingsley wrapped the stethoscope around his neck.
"What is your name, doctor?" Doctor Kingsley asked and the other doctor jolted.
"My name is Johnson! Doctor Johnson Douglas" Doctor Johnson said hurriedly.
"Johnson, huh? Well, it's nice to meet you", Kingsley extended his hand for a handshake.
"It's nice to meet you too, Doctor" Johnson replied as he shook the man's hand.
"So, Johnson…"
"Yes sir?!"
"I'm assuming you've been the doctor taking care of the patient for a while now, so do you want to fill me in on a couple of your discoveries? No matter how little, I'm sure it'll be of great help", Kingsley said, and Johnson became ecstatic.
He couldn't believe that his idol wanted his help.
Unfortunately, that excitement was short-lived as his mood quickly dampened.
"From that look of yours, I'm guessing you're about to give me some bad news," Kingsley said.
"Apologies, Doctor. The truth is, neither I nor any of the doctors before me have been able to determine what's wrong with the patient. We conducted every possible test, yet all the results came back negative. There were times when he experienced sudden spikes of pain, but whenever we checked for a cause, the outcome always remained the same. Eventually, the previous doctor and I began to refer to the condition as the 'phantom sickness,'" Johnson explained.
"The phantom sickness, huh? What an interesting name", Kingsley groaned and then looked at Sebastian who was on the bed— unconscious and sickly looking.
After a few seconds of coming up with ideas in his head, the doctor looked at the rest of the family and said "Don't worry everyone, now that I'm here, all your worries will be solved. I swear on my license as a doctor that this issue will be handled perfectly, and the patriarch will be back to full health."
"Thank you, doctor!" Elizabeth said, joy written all over her face.
"You see that, Anderson?! That's how you get shit done. You get the best of the best and pay them as much money as they could possibly ask then you sit back and watch all your problems get fixed" Henry taunted Miss Anderson, who he thought was insane for bringing Benjamin over there, because what help could Benjamin possibly be of?
Henry shifted his gaze to Kingsley and said "Go ahead, doctor. Work your magic and bring our father back to us"
"Of course, Mister Henry" Kingsley smirked cockily then he walked over to the patient to start running some tests.
Just then, Miss Anderson looked at Benjamin standing beside her.
"Benjamin" she called softly and he looked at her.
"I know we made a deal but if this doctor can do what I brought you here for then it'll mark the end of said deal and I'll have no choice but to send you back to that cell. For my sake, I hope he does finally cure my father but for your sake… well, I don't need to say the rest cause I'm sure you understand"
Benjamin's eyes blinked multiple times then looked at the doctor, who was checking Sebastian's vitals, and gulped.
He checked the countdown timer and he had three hours and forty-one minutes left until the mission was over.
'Things have taken an unexpected turn. What do I do now?' He asked himself as his heart pounded in his chest.
Like things couldn't get any worse, he heard the doctor say, "I've figured it out"
Immediately, his heart sank into his stomach and his face turned grim as the others around him became ecstatic about what Kingsley had just said.
The words Miss Anderson said to him less than thirty seconds ago rang in his ears and sweat started falling from his neck.
What was he to do now? Benjamin wondered and as the desperation kicked in, he frowned.
He refused to back down now—not after coming this far and being so close to completing the mission.
With that, his competitive spirit rose and it became a battle of who would get the job done first and more importantly well.
So, Benjamin used the one weapon in his arsenal that Kingsley didn't have.
'Hey, system' he thought.
"Yes, Axel Blade" the system replied.
'Activate my Search Skill' Benjamin smirked.
