I am New Here (8)

Ashii never expected she would be eating some melon early in the morning. What surprised her was the man involved in the conflict. He possessed the face of the person who stood outside the fence of her home last night. But his eyes were no longer sparkling.

He was more attractive in person.

The man looked cold and distant. Sophia Palma, the girl who once blocked Ashii, stood to block the man today, trying to use her charm. Ashii smiled, thinking the campus was not so scary and the students were still normal.

They also loved drama.

But Ashii never thought her gaze would be met by the man she didn't know. His gaze was cold and indifferent as he stared back at her. His face was expressionless, but this made Ashii shiver. She has a gut feeling that the person knew her, yet she couldn't remember meeting him at any family occasion. They had no intersection.

Ashii avoided his gaze and rushed to her first class.

When she arrived, there were few people inside the room. Ashii sat in front as usual. She loved listening to lectures and participating in class.

Ashii scrolled through her phone, knowing classes wouldn't start early. She saw an email from her third brother. She clicked the message and viewed the attachment. It contained a piece of detailed information about Zenea City. Something she thought wasn't possible.

The citizens in the city were divided into several factions.

Humans.

Enchanters.

Magicians.

Shifters.

And they have the same enemy, which is Demons.

So, I am in a city inhabited by supernatural creatures?

Ashii scrolled and saw several surnames that led the factions.

My mother's maiden family...

Ashii's heart was racing so fast. She has a gut feeling that her mother's disappearance was related to the affairs of the supernatural world. She was sure that her father was hiding a secret from them. They have never talked as a family about the affairs of their mother when she went missing.

Ashii suddenly had an idea of investigating her mother's affairs, but she needed to get familiar with the city first. Then she needed to be well-versed in the special abilities of the people living in it. She also needed more information about several factions inside the city and how every entity coexists.

She sighed.

Ashii suddenly noticed that she was the only one sitting in the front row of the class. When she looked back, everyone stopped what they were doing to glance at the man who entered the room with a dramatic atmosphere.

What the heck?

The man sat beside her, then the professor entered the room.

Ashii did not know what to say, but she guessed the person beside her had some power in the academy. She had doubts about why he sat beside her. But she did not want to approach someone randomly.

The man met her gaze and smiled at her, his eyes filled with unspeakable gentleness.

Ashii shifted her gaze to the teacher, but felt uneasy upon receiving his smile. She did not know him, but for some reason, they would always meet each other. She sighed and put all her focus on the class.

When she was taking down notes, someone tapped her shoulder.

She raised an eyebrow.

"Do you have an extra pen?"

Ashii stared at his face, then she observed that he did not even bring a bag with him. She nodded and lent a pen to him. But she was not expecting him to ask for a sheet of paper. Ashii also gave him a few and returned to writing.

Is he considered a bad student? He did not even bring anything with him. It's amazing that he even wore the academy's uniform.

Sky's gaze stayed on Ashii's back, but there was a crazy smile on his lips.

When it was time to go home, Ashii realized he had taken all his classes with her. She was dumbfounded. How could the same person take a major and a minor course with her?

He's not here to stalk me, right? But such a handsome stalker...

The road was dark.

Ashii suddenly received a message from the driver that it was impossible to pick her up from school. She was doubtful when she received the news. The car was new, and it couldn't have serious issues. She was even afraid of going home alone with the streets empty.

I guess I don't have a choice.

Commuting was almost impossible in the area. She had never seen buses or taxis when she came here. Several students also disappear after class, and she had never seen them ride anything a commuter would ride, unlike people in the Imperial Capital.

I can only walk back home.

Ashii decided to walk.

Everything around her was silent.

It would take her fifteen minutes to walk from the academy to the neighborhood. She silently prayed that she would be safe.

After three blocks and a turn, she noticed someone was following her. Her footsteps hastened, yet she did not dare look back. She did not want to know who was following her. She could then feel many eyes on her, so she started to walk even faster. But when she reached the sixth block, she saw a bloody scene she would never forget.

Three people forced a woman in the corner as they suck her blood.

Ashii was so shocked that she couldn't move or make a sound.

The men felt her gaze and turned their attention in her direction.

She felt panicked.

She wanted to run, but her feet wouldn't move. Someone from behind grabbed her and covered her mouth shut. She was trembling in fear.

"Shh. Do not move."

She closed her eyes and prayed, hoping the person beside her wouldn't kill her or have the same interests as those men.

"Let me take you home."

Home?

Ashii opened her eyes, only to find that it was her seatmate.

A car stopped beside them. He motioned for her to enter. When she glanced at the place where those Aswangs were feasting for a woman's blood, they were gone, and no trace could be found. It was as if they had vanished out of thin air.

"Why save me?"
