Journey

Today was the day he was supposed to go on a mission with that party. He was not excited by it. They met in the guild, all dressed in their battle attire.

The woman was dressed like a witch, Victor the Swordman was wearing light armour that looked fancy and the giant shield guy was wearing heavy armour with an axe on his shoulder and a shield on his back.

They looked at him strangely, more accurately at his attire, he was dressed strangely for a healer. Most healers wear white robes.

Hi, said the woman, I'm sorry we forgot to introduce ourselves yesterday, my name is Cathra I am a mage, this is Iron, he is our tank, he barely talks so don't mind him and this is...she paused for a little Victor, our party leader.

She said that last part with a small grimace. He looked at the two men. He could only see Irons eyes through his helmet and Victor had that smug look of his.

You should start calling me party leader as well, he said. Noel did not bother responding to that. So should we go? Asked Cathra. He nodded.

As they left she took out a piece of paper and gave it to him, this is our mission, she said. He took it, the mission was eliminate a pack of wolves that has been killing the livestock of villagers up north.

At first it was not considered an emergency as the wolves avoided human settlements but a rank F pack leader appeared amongst them and things changed.

The wolves started hunting humans, the villagers gathered together to hire adventurers to hunt them down however not many adventurers were willing to take it.

The pay was not high enough and the place was a bit too far, they could take multiple missions with similar pay in the time it takes to travel there.

Noel had sold his camel when he got here so they were going to take a horse drawn coach to the north. It was a few days travel so they had packed a lot of rations.

This world had something called spacial bags but they were too expensive for adventurers of their level. Things like that would be considered a family heirloom to a Baron family so even Victor did not have one.

Two fit looking horses were latched to their coach. They mounted and left, their coachman was an old man smoking a pipe, the horses were traveling at a walking pace.

The roads were rough and they had to look out for monsters and ferocious beasts along the way. Nightfall came and they set camp, everybody had brought their tents except him.

With his stats he did not need as much sleep, he could go for weeks without sleep and so could they except for the coachman but it appeared they still help on to the sentiment.

He rested on top of the coach looking at the night sky, it was beautiful, the stars twinkled like diamonds in the bottom of the pool, the green moon of this Star world big and bright.

He wondered how something do beautiful could be so deadly, if only every beautiful thing could be as soft and kind as Tracy the world would be a better place.

However he knew that was impossible, as long as the world has monsters, other monsters will be born to keep them in check. To humans the things that ate them were the evil of the world but do they not eat others as well?

Are they not evil to them? It was not really his place to question the morality of others, he was no different than most, maybe even worse, he was certain without Tracy he would've been more demon than human.

The night passed without incident, he was a bit relieved, he was not eager to fight anything right now. By morning they were already in their way.

Cathra was singing and he had to admit she had a beautiful voice. Their journey was uneventful which seemed to piss off Victor. He kept saying why couldn't a monster show up so he could kill it.

I'm eager for blood he would say, my blade is hungry. He was starting to annoy even Noel, he was a hard guy to piss off, normally he wouldn't care what people say or do with their lives but this guy was sending red flags left and right.

It was on their fourth day that things changed, Victor had gotten his wish. In front of them stood a pack of hyenas or atleast he thinks they were.

They looked exactly like hyenas except they were as large as rhinos and had two fangs like sabertooths. They looked ferocious but so did very beats.

Fortunately these were not monsters but beasts meaning they knew fear and pain, killing their pack leader should scare them off.

He pulled his sword but before he could move Victor was already standing infront of him. What do you think you doing? Stay in the back.

You a healer and a newbie, know your place, he said with irritation. He might've been rude but he was right, he was healer, since they've became a party he would gain experience even if he is not the one to land the killing blow.

As long as he heals one fighter during the battle that would count as contribution by the system. Besides, he did not want to show his actual ability to them.

The leader was an F rank beast but the rest were G rank, the issue was there were a lot of them. There were exactly 67 fully grown hyenas the size of rhinos standing before them, no they were all around them now.

The beast had surrounded them. Clark, Mr coachman, please stay close to me, said Cathra as she casted a barrier around them. She then casted augmentation spells on the two fighters.

She casted a spell she called speed on Victor and one called stalwart on Iron. One increase the Agility stat of the target while the other increase the strength and Endurance stats.

She was a support mage but as a mage she could obviously use offensive magic as well. In a second balls of fire each as large as an adults head floated around them.

The leader of the hyenas roared in her weird laughing like voice they make and the moved. The mayhem began.
