'I can tell you aren't from this town. Would you like me to give you a tour? All I ask in return is a few coins so I can buy some lunch!'
Wow. What a gorgeous creature standing in front of me! I would be a fool not to take her up on her offer.
Aside from being absolutely stunning, she is offering to show me the city. I know she might just run off after I buy her lunch, but then I could just say I had lunch with a total smokeshow and then went my own way after.
'I could never say no to the company of a beauty like yourself! I am also quite hungry, do you have a place in mind? We can consider it our first date.'
Her mouth opens as if she is a fish out of water, and she stares at me for a moment, blushing, before composing herself.
'Well.... a beauty huh? .... Thank you.. I guess. Uhm... well... I know a good place depending on your budget.'
I just received almost 4000 gp from the bounty, plus all the rest on the ship. I don't know much about the prices in this world, but I really need something good to eat.
'Budget isn't really a concern, but I am starving, so if you can take us somewhere with big portions of tasty food, that would be great.'
She beckons me to follow her and starts walking towards the town. 'Leave it to me! Oh, right, sorry, how rude. My name's Kaelin. Nice to meet you!'
'I'm Leon, nice to meet you too! Tell me, Kaelin, why did you decide to approach me when I was climbing the stairs?'
'Your smell! We foxkin have a very good sense of smell, better even than wolfkin or dogkin, and I have never smelt anyone like you. That's how I could tell you are not from this city.
Also, I didn't make enough money in the dungeon this morning to buy lunch, so I thought I would offer my services as a tour guide instead!'
Dungeons were the second aspect of 'Sky Bucaneers'. Outside of ship combat, there was also PvE or PvP combat with characters. Dungeons were places that could be entered to find loot and level up. I played that part of the game a little, but my main focus was on ships.
'Ah, I understand now. So, what sort of place are you taking me to?'
'It's a pretty famous restaurant around here, quite popular among certain people, but I've never had the chance to go inside. Seeing as you said budget isn't a problem, I figure I could take you there.'
'Budget isn't a problem, but just so you know, if I find the prices outrageous, I'll ask you to take us somewhere else.'
'Fair enough! Can't blame a girl for dreaming big, though! hehehe.'
Despite the dark clothing and the twin revolvers making her look like some kind of badass, she has a very bubbly and honest personality.
I can't detect any deception in her words, I'm quite convinced that she is genuinely just looking for a few coins in exchange for showing me around
As we make our way to the restaurant, I feel a lot of eyes looking at us. I don't know if they are looking at me or her, but I get the impression they are eyes filled with Disdain.
I'm a westerner in my old world with dark hair and dark eyes, nothing out of the ordinary. I see a lot of people who look like they could be from back home, so I don't think that there is anything odd about me. So maybe they are looking at her?
She ignores the eyes of the people around us and keeps happily chatting away while pointing out various points of interest. A bar here, a statue there, this happened once here, that happened a few times there, ordinary stuff.
We eventually arrive in front of a rather swanky-looking restaurant, and I am immediately on alert, wondering what sort of crazy expensive place she has brought me to.
As we get near the door, there is a menu in a glass-fronted box, and I am surprised to see that the prices of the items on the menu never exceed 25 gp. A private booth also only costs 100 gp, and a bottle of wine is 50 gp. I have almost 600,000 gp, so one dinner here isn't going to break the bank.
If a meal at a place this fancy is no more than 25 gp, I guess that means that day-to-day goods will be even less. With all the money I have sitting in my wardrobe on the ship, I am beginning to get the idea that it is no small amount.
The sign on the restaurant says 'Gourmet's Bounty'.
'Yeah, the price is fine, let's go in.'
'Really?!' She replies happily. I turn back to see the widest, most excited grin I have ever seen on a person. She must be a real foodie if coming to this place puts her in that good of a mood.
As I walk in through the door, the man in a fancy-looking suit waiting at the front gives me a bow. He is dressed like a waiter from the French Laundry, a testament to the quality of service this restaurant is trying to portray. 'How may I help you today, sir?'
'Booth for 2 please.'
'Certainly, if you will please follow me.'
He doesn't say anything about it, but I can see the same disdainful look in his eyes when he looks at Kaelin. She doesn't seem to notice, or care, I'm not sure which.
He takes us over to the back of the dining hall, where a booth sits against a wall. The booth has a red velvet curtain that can be drawn for privacy.
'Please bring us a bottle of wine, and one of everything on the menu.'
'Yes, sir, right away, sir!'
He scurries away while bowing his head.
'One of everything? Are you sure?'
'I'm starving, and I want to eat a feast before you give me a proper tour of the town. There are some questions I want to ask and some places I would like to visit. Can you help me with that?'
