“Be a just king,”

The court was in chaos, thoughts divided, and the ministers stood on the edge.

"We already have a crown prince. You can't name another," Minister Fineland roared.

But Rowan sat still, watching the tension unfold like he hadn't caused it.

"Rowan, you have to think this through. The son of Kora was born first, and the messenger of birth arrived before the palace knew of the second prince," Queen Melissa's voice echoed, and Rowan turned to her with a broad smile.

"Indeed, but by law, the first who arrived is heir to the throne."

Queen Melissa nodded, and Kora could feel the tension within her subside as her nails dug deeper into her skin.

"What time was the baby born?" Rowan asked, and Queen Melissa turned, but he held up a hand, stopping her.

"The question is meant for the mother of the child alone."

Kora felt all eyes turn to her, their ears eager for salvation. She stood up and slowly bowed.
