Looming Danger

The sky was bright over the households of Snowdale. Everyone had begun with their daily activities, but within the packhouse, chaos was slowly unfolding.

Kael, who had returned and found out Elias was gone, could not bring himself to get up from bed. His body was completely taken over. The wound on his neck had deepened, and the pain was beyond imagination, but he had long lost the zeal to cry.

As he lay on the bed, tears rolled down the corners of his eyes with occasional sobs as he stirred and moaned in pain. The door creaked open, and Lia walked in with another servant.

"You will handle him while we wait on the arrival of the herbalist," Lia said, then walked out.

Kael could only stare and watch as the servant went about her duty. He was in too much pain to give orders of his own.

"I have to heal from this," he told himself, but the odds were not on his side.
