Xuan Shi

Gu Yuze had just made the biggest mistake since he came to this work.

He had miscalculated. Gu Yuze has felt that three days would be enough for him to shatter his dantian, heal, and rebuild his cultivation base.

This was the fourth day, and he was still healing. He had been afraid that anytime soon, a disciple would knock and enter this room. The backlash would be disastrous for both of them, but it had been over ten hours since the fourth day began, and he had not yet had any visitors.

But it was not just the backlash; the scene of the room would lead him into trouble. The healing array is drawn over the spirit-gathering array. Blood everywhere. Symbols and signals on the wall. He would be accused of being a member of the Wusheng.

Guy Yuze could not move any part of his body; he floated lightly above the healing array.

His heartbeatwas slow, and his meridians were motionless. As for his dantian and sea of consciousness, there was no single spiritual energy in him. Rather than a sea, it would be better referred to as a desert.

Gu Yuze sank into a strange state. Even though his blood and flesh did not seem to be undergoing any change, in actuality they were.

Four days. Seven days.

On the eighth day, Gu Yuze's heart started to beat faster. It thumped so wildly it seemed as if it might burst out of his body.

His body was filled with loud cracking sounds as it grew stronger.

What amazed Gu Yuze doing this process is how familiar he was with this body. The little ghost king's feng shui and eight characters had been impossible to read. It was as if everything about him was covered with a fog, but now Just a little healing and he could feel the little ghost king meridians; they were wide and transparent like crystal.

What a talented body.

When Gu Yuze opened his eyes, they shone with a golden light. He fell on the ground and reached to rub his head.

Looking at the healing array that had started fading, he sighed, "Couldn't you let me down slowly?"

He tried to stand up, and his stomach rumbled loudly. He reached for another fasting pill when he remembered the milk candy.

The candy melted in his mouth, and while it did nothing to quench his hunger, it was as if the painful eight days had just faded away. He ate another Fasting pill.

What cultivation technique should he practice? He looked at the two cultivation techniques he had gotten from the library.

The Mirage Shadow Art was not bad, but they were all ordinary and, honestly, a waste for this kind of body.

He cocked his head, not to mention the dangers ahead. Even if he leaves this body, he wants to leave behind an excellent cultivation base.

The Chaotic Meridians Arts would not do; this body was too Yin for such a powerful Yang cultivation technique.

"No, that won't do. That wouldn't do either."

Cultivation techniques were not difficult at all; they were just a foundation, after all, but finding the right cultivation technique was like giving wings to a tiger.

"Every Taoist needs a good cultivation technique, a good skill, and a good artifact. But then, even if you have sufficient artifacts and skills, if you are unlucky, you would still die. Ghosts, Yao, or Wusheng. You could lose your life to anything. Dying is inevitable."

Gu Yuze rolled his eyes at the memory. It might be hard to believe, but Lan Ling was trying to console him about his birth.

Gu Yuze suddenly smiled. Nobody said anything about him not practicing it again.

"If you think about it, the two of us are quite unlucky; it should also serve you well..." It was quite poetic. Gu Yuze smirked. Wasn't it the technique that killed the little ghost king?

"Success or not, it can't hurt to try?"

His father had exchanged one of the most precious Taoist manuals of the Jiangnan Temple for the Xuan Shi Core Art. It was just the beginning of the many actions his father would take against the advice of the elders.

For him.

The first step was sensing the Xuanshi star; it was supposed to be the most difficult step and the main reason nobody in the Fang family had cultivated the technique since the founder died.

But for Gu Yuze, this was the easiest step. He could always sense the Xuanshi star. Even in this ghost's king body.

He could do it. He had to.

Gu Yuze's fingers twisted like vines to form dense amounts of ancient seals. He moved quickly, his fingers flowing like the rising and falling of the tide, seeming to have no end.

After seven minutes, he suddenly stopped, his right palm lifted towards the heavens and his left palm pressed to the ground.

He sat calmly, like an old rock that emitted an unusual tranquility.

"Come!"

Gu Yuze could feel it; he could sense it. The blazing, cold energy, the power. It was always different from other stars; it was always alone.

"Come!"

Then a single strand of starlight pierced the cosmos.

The scene was extremely novel, as if a bridge of thin golden light had been built between the heavens and the earth, connecting Gu Yuze with Xuanshi.

Across the eastern territory, tens of celestial masters snapped to attention. Their gazes were filled with different expressions: bewilderment, shock, and perplexity.

Who exactly is it that's actually able to communicate with the energy of the stars?

But before they could pinpoint the Lingyun Sect, the night sky was pitch black and everything had returned to normal.

Back in the cultivation room in the Lingyun Sect, Gu Yuze was still sitting cross-legged on the Frost Jade Platform.

At this moment, a scriptural text floats around him. Each and every character of the scripture emitted a bright golden light as they slowly sunk into his skin.

The spiritual energy was equal parts burning hot and freezing cold. It charged ahead, filling his temple with a roaring like thunder. He felt as if his body was about to explode. Then suddenly, it felt as if the spiritual energy had opened up a new realm inside him. Instantly, he felt a wonderful sensation, so familiar. It was a tingling feeling, as if someone were caressing him with countless feathers.

He immersed himself in the feeling as he began to cultivate.

Breathe in. Breathe out. He rotated the spiritual energy through his dantian with practiced ease. After a few more hours, Gu Yuze opened his eyes. They glowed dazzlingly.

It was as if the darkness of the cave were being split by brilliant lightning bolts.
