Chapter 47: The Breakthrough

The air within the Rift was chaos—flames, lightning, black winds and divine light clashed with roars that tore through the sky.

Five EX-Rank Beasts.Three warriors. No way out but through.

Riku was holding off the twin beasts of Obsidian and White Mist, his clones and knights surrounding him like a miniature army. His movements were precise—blades flashing, energy crackling with each swing. But the beasts were relentless, regenerating and adapting.

Suddenly, a shriek from the golden beast echoed across the battlefield."YUMI, MOVE!" Toru shouted—

But Yumi didn't move. She stood her ground, hands glowing a radiant emerald as the beast charged.

She whispered, "Essence Break: Reversal Pulse!"

A wave of green and white light surged from her body, wrapping around the beast—its movements froze. Its power, for just a second, flickered.

Then Yumi moved like a different person.

With her right hand extended, a beam of pure healing energy spiraled forward—but it wasn't to heal. The beam pierced straight through the golden beast's chest, tearing its corrupted core out from within.

BOOM!!

The beast let out a final shriek before crumbling into shards of golden Essence.

Toru stared, breath caught. "…You killed it… alone?!"

Yumi blinked, still glowing. "I… I didn't know I could do that."

Toru didn't waste a second. Fueled by adrenaline and pride, he shouted, "Let's go!" and launched himself at the crimson and blue EX beasts, lightning crackling across his fists.

With sharp maneuvers and pure force, he took one down by shattering its legs and blasting its head with a shockwave burst, then hurled his own spear Essence like a drill, punching through the second.

Two more dropped.

That left the black and white mist ones—both already weakened by Riku's strategy.

One of his knights sacrificed itself to hold down the white mist beast just long enough for Riku to leap, his blade cloaked in Essence fire. He slashed once—twice—then clapped his hands together and shouted:

"Absorb!"

The beast's core was pulled from its body mid-strike—sucked into Riku's chest like before. His body pulsed once.

"…Another one?" he muttered, surprised. "This must be a Soul Transfer ability…"

With the final black beast trying to escape, Riku launched his clone ahead, then warped to its side mid-air with Voidstep, impaling it through the spine.

CRASH!!The final monster collapsed.

Silence followed. The Rift shook... and then began to close.

Toru fell to a knee, panting. "We survived… somehow."

Yumi dropped to the ground next to Riku, still wearing his jacket. "We actually did it…"

Riku smiled, offering her a hand up. "You both were amazing."

Yumi looked down, cheeks red. "You gave me the strength to do it…"

Riku looked at the slowly healing land. "Five EX beasts… this wasn't a normal Rift. Something's coming. Something worse."

Toru nodded grimly. "This was just the beginning."
