Just then, Anvitha barged into his room, knocking on the door.
"What are you doing standing here like this? There's an emergency case. We need to go to the operation theatre. Are you coming, or should I go? If I go, you'll need to wait for my patient, or assign another doctor," she said urgently.
"You go. I'll assign another doctor for your patient," Chaitanya replied, looking at her sharply.
Caught in the tension of the emergency, Anvitha didn't notice the change in Chaitanya's tone. Placing her bangles and mobile phone on the table, she said, "Okay, I'll come back and take these," and left the room.
Chaitanya stood there, watching her leave.
At that moment, her mobile phone, which she had left on the table, started ringing. Curious, he walked over to check who it was.
When he saw the name Vijayan, he was stunned.
Vijayan? Isn't this the same guy who came with Lalitha on the wedding day? he thought. He instinctively answered the call and held it to his ear.
On the other end, the voice said, "Hello? Anvitha? Are you on the line?"
Chaitanya didn't say a word.
But Vijayan didn't seem to mind the silence. He kept talking:
"Hey Anvitha, Lalitha called and said Chaitanya is completely recovered now. From now on, you have to be extra careful. Earlier, when he couldn't walk, he might not have been able to think clearly. But not anymore—he's healthy now. He'll definitely start observing you closely. If he finds out you're not Aadhira but Anvitha, it'll become a huge problem. Be careful. If he finds out the truth himself, you won't be able to handle the consequences. Do you understand what I'm saying? Okay, I have to go. I'll call you in the evening," he said and hung up.
Chaitanya felt as if his entire body had caught fire from the inside.
So, is Vijayan Anvitha's lover? And that child, Athvaith, whom she brought into his life, isn't even his own? Is he Vijayan's son? Did she deceive him into marrying her for the sake of her lover? And what happened to Aadhira? Did these two kill her? Or did she marry someone else?
His mind was overwhelmed with conflicting thoughts.
The questions he wanted to ask Anvitha directly now got buried in his heart.
He decided he had to observe her carefully and uncover the truth himself.
Do they think I, Chaitanya, am a fool? How dare they lie to me and deceive me to this extent? I must find out what happened to Aadhira.
He no longer trusted Anvitha to tell the truth.
He picked up her mobile and went through the call history.
Vijayan, Lalitha, and Geetha were the ones who had called her the most.
Geetha too? Are all three of them betraying me? Are they conspiring together?
His anger boiled over.
Unable to stay in the room, he rushed out, got in his car, and drove around Chennai till evening.
He didn't have the strength to return to the hospital and see Anvitha.
He needed solitude to process this shock.
If he stayed at the hospital, Anvitha would come by and confuse him again.
He had to think clearly. He had to catch all three of them red-handed.
He needed to find out why they had deceived him and where Aadhira was.
He had to hear the truth from their own mouths. With that resolve, he calmed himself and returned to the hospital.
Anvitha had been searching for Chaitanya since morning.
He had never left without informing her before. What happened to him? she wondered anxiously.
She was waiting in his room when she noticed a large stack of files on his table.
Curious, she looked through them—and was shocked.
It was a list of the employees working there.
Then mine should be here too, she thought, and began rifling through the files.
She found what she was looking for—her own file.
Seeing her name and photo under "Anvitha," she was stunned.
How did we miss this? He must have seen this file. That's why he left without saying anything. Now he knows I'm not Aadhira but Anvitha… What kind of storm is going to erupt now?
She waited nervously for his return.
When Chaitanya entered the room, he looked at her and burst out angrily.
His eyes were bloodshot. Unable to withstand the intensity of his gaze, she stood up slowly.
Chaitanya looked at the table and the file. Realizing that she had looked through it, he turned to her and said,
"So you figured out that I know the truth, didn't you? Then can I finally get an explanation?"
His voice thundered as he stormed in and slammed the door shut.
He locked the door and stood in front of her.
Seeing him lock the door was terrifying—he had never locked the office door before.
He even placed the key in his pocket. Anvitha noted this with growing fear.
As he came closer, she backed away.
"No… Please listen to me patiently. I'm Anvitha, Aadhira's younger sister. When I came, you were unwell, longing for Aadhira. I had no other choice, so I had to pretend to be her…"
"I wanted to tell you the truth… but Grandpa—" she started to explain.
"Shut up!" he snapped. "Aren't you ashamed to even mention Grandpa? He was never that kind of man. You must've lied to him too!"
"No, please… Grandpa knew everything. Think about it. He was the one who interviewed me. How could this file be here without him knowing? Please believe me," she pleaded.
"I agree he might have known you're Anvitha. But did he know that you, out of greed for money, pretended to be Aadhira and married me? Did he know that?" Chaitanya accused.
What is he saying now? Where did this new story come from? she wondered in shock.
"What are you glaring at? Did you think I wouldn't find out? As soon as you left the room, your so-called lover Vijayan called to warn you to keep things quiet. I heard everything. What does that mean, huh? You two are plotting to cheat me? All this drama for my property?"
"No, please! It's not like that at all!" she begged.
"Shut your mouth! I'm not the same old Chaitanya who'll believe your lies. Who is that child's father, huh?" he asked, disgusted.
"Oh no, how can you speak like that? He's your child!" she cried.
"What? My child? You and I had a baby?" he scoffed.
"No… he's the child of you and my sister Aadhira. I've raised him since birth," Anvitha clarified.
"Liar! How shameless can you be? He's your child with Vijayan! You two dumped him on me for the sake of my property. Isn't that the truth?" he shouted.
What is he saying? Making up all sorts of wild accusations!
Anvitha was dizzy from hearing his words.
"No! Vijayan is just a groom my father chose for me. But I never had any kind of relationship with him. He was ready to marry me, but when you fell ill and Grandpa asked me, I agreed to marry you as Aadhira," she finally confessed.
