AUTHOR'S POV-
*Deep Breathing*
You won't escape today!!
I willn't let you!
*Growling Sound of a wild animal*
Darkness is spread everywhere. But the devotion, bravery and courage of a young boy is lightining the whole space. A boy who is determined to save his village from the wrath of a mad hyena. A terror of each mother who has a child at home.
The hyena we are talking about is not an easy chase as it has already killed more than twenty children of the village since past year. Enough of being scared, a young nineteen year old boy stepped forward to do something.
A few moments before ~
"Chinta mat karo Amma. Kuch nahi hoga mujhe. Mai akela nahi mere baaki dost bhi to hain na mere sath. Chalo ab rona band bhi kar do." He assured his mother who was crying non-stop since she heard the declaration of her son about killing the hyena.
(Don't worry mother. Nothing will happen to me. I'm not alone anyway. My friends will also be there. Now, stop crying please.)
"Mere bache teri ma ne bahut sanghash se tujhe pala hai. Sirf tu hi mere jeene ka sahara hai. Agar tujhe kuch ho gaya to mai mar jaungi"
(My child, your mother has raised you with so many struggles. You are the only reason I'm alive. I'll die if something happens to you.)
"Amma aap bekar me hi chinta kar rahi ho. Mai vishwaas dilata hu ki mujhe kuch nahi hoga par aaj mujhe mat roko. Mera Jaana bahut jaruri hai."
(Mother, you're worrying with no reason. Trust me nothing will happen to me but please don't stop me today. It's very necessary for me to go.)
Holding a woody spear he ran outside his house. He didn't have the courage to turn back and look at his mother. On his way, he remembered how his childhood was full of struggle and his mother used to get bad remarks on being a single mom. But the tragedy doesn't end here. There is a rumor that Raghuveer was born to the lady before her marriage and later she married a man who died due to some disease. Raghu never questioned his mother whether they were true or not because for him, she is his God and he has no right to question her.
His mother has always told him that his father was the one who died. Other things are just made up rumors and nothing else. Raghuveer was five when his father left them. Since then he lives in a corner of the village with his mother.
Present~
None of his friends came as per the plan. They all decieved him. But he couldn't step back after coming all this way. The sounds of bushes and footsteps of some wild animal was enough to know that the hyena was not far from his reach.
With slow but cautious steps, Raghu was making his each move calculatively. He felt a pair of eyes on him. With a little nervousness he started turning his head in the opposite direction, only to jolt up seeing two bright yellow reflection hitting him from between the bushes.
Raghuveer pulled himself together and took his position in defense to any attack. In no time, an enormous and wild maneater animal jumped infront of him. The hyena seemed like craving some fresh human meat. The way it was drooling while looking at him, didn't go unnoticed from the sight of the young teenage boy.
The hyena didn't waste a second and attacked Raghuveer with a monstrous dive. Before the boy could think any further, the hyena was already launched on his body. His face just a few inches apart from the devil.
*Deep Breathing*
The monster animal was going to eat out his neck when Raghu stopped it midway by holding it's neck tightly and turning it upside down so that he was on the top now. This act made the hyena even more mad, showing all it's sharp bladder teeth, it tried to scare off the young guy.
Finding it a good opportunity, Raghu distracted it further so that he could reach out for his spear and lashes out the hyena. He was about to attack when the hyena scratched his face with it's dangerous paws. This made Raghu to fell off on his back. He saw the hyena running towards him. Without wasting more time, Raghuveer rolled off the ground and launched on it's back.
Positioning his spear, he attacked the merciless animal on his back. A loud cry of the hyena spread across the whole forest making the birds fly off the nearby trees. The hyena couldn't take the attack and fell on the ground. Raghuveer was numbed and speechless of his act. He took out his spear and walked out the forest with a deep thought. Raghu was happy that he revenged the lives of those children who lost themselves and protect those who lived in it's terror but still he was feeling off as this was the first time he killed someone, be it a monstrous animal.
Raghu has a kind demeanor. He wouldn't kill an ant even if it wash out all the sweet of his house. With a restless mind, Raghu made his way towards his house as he couldn't figure out how he was feeling at that moment.
At home ~
Raghuveer entered his house to find his mother sitting on the floor with her knees held together and face down.
"Amma?" He called his mother.
She slowly pushed her face up. Raghu's breathe got hitched to see his mother in that state. Her eyes were swelled up and red. Hair messy and dried marks of tears along with the fresh ones on her cheek. A smile of relief made way on her face when she saw her son back safely. But it slowly fell down when her sight figured the marks and blood on her son.
She quickly stood up and ran towards him, checking for any more wound. They didn't exchange a word and just hugged eachother. The sobbing sound of his mother made Raghuveer to hug her more tightly.
He hold her cheeks and smiled looking at his mother,
"I'm back with success Amma".
