Pawn

In a dark room, Julia sat on the ground, and her arms were chained. She was in a frail state.

Light came from the door and blinded her.

Sabre entered and stood over her. He pulled her hair. He demanded to know if she had anything to say in her defense.

Julia shook her head. 

Sabre scoffed that she would become a sacrifice for them.

The light faded away, and Sabre slammed the door. He was gone.

Julia was in the darkness, alone. She began to cry. How much longer? How much longer until someone would save her? It felt like it had been a century since she was locked in there.

Suddenly, there was a noise at the door.

A female cloaked figure entered with a key.

Julia giggled and wondered if she was there to torment her, as well.

Shockingly, the female cloaked figure released her chains.

Julia was astonished, and she inquired who she was. 

The female cloaked figure removed her hood and revealed that she was a new member, and she had been watching her. Her scarlet hair and eyes were revealed. She surveyed how she felt.

Julia remarked that she was a traitor. She added that thinking about death scared her. She pondered if it was because of the humans.

The female cloaked figure sneered and asserted that Julia was a great asset to their organization.

Julia reminded that she was set for a sacrificial ritual already. She inquired if that was not her purpose.

The female cloaked figure held her hand and muttered that she wanted her alive a bit longer. As her scarlet eyes glowed, she explained that she wanted to give her a gift. She bit Julia's neck and injected a venom.

Julia gasped and felt dizzy.

The female cloaked figure stepped back and wiped her mouth. Her fangs were shown. They shrunk in size. She elaborated that she would give Julia another chance. She warned that if she failed, then, she would die.

Julia rubbed her neck. She reluctantly nodded in silence. She looked up at the female cloaked figure and asked for her name.

The female cloaked figure replied that it was Scarlett. She reached out her hand and questioned if Julia was ready.

Julia, hesitant, slowly grabbed her hand. She assured that she would try.

Later, Julia travelled to Sillisos City with Frank as her partner. There, he met her future husband, Hubert.

It was love at first sight.

Julia wanted to be with him, but her time was limited. Somehow, she conjured an uncurable and fatal disease. She perished in the laboratory.

In a pod, her mind was awake. She witnessed the deaths of Cassandra and Somnus.

Julia wondered what was going on. She communicated with Scarlett.

Scarlett muttered that Julia must understand what they wanted. She continued that Julia had abandoned them. She asked if she remembered anything.

Julia was dumbfounded. She refuted that she had a family.

Scarlett chuckled and admitted that she did not care. She sighed and clarified that there was a simpler solution. She reminded that Julia was an important descendant of the ancients. She claimed that she was destined to become a queen.

Julia frowned and glanced at her. She inquired what it meant to be a queen. 

Scarlett explained that a queen was ambitious, brave, and loyal to her people. She added that it was to be a mother of a race.

Julia wondered how she would become one.

Scarlett asserted that Julia would create the new zombie race and fight against humanity. She pointed out that only then, her kids would be saved. She whispered that Julia must have a zombie king, and she had already chosen him.

Julia opened her eyes and stared out of the pod. Her memories returned to her. She grinned with a motive of retaliation against the world.

At the same time, Hubert marveled at the sight of his wife's corpse.
