The Secret Letter

As he was sitting down he began running his family's unique martial arts, the 'Rising Star Meditation Technique' to help him recuperate. The special nature of his martial arts was what allowed him to trick those two killers from the organisation into thinking he was dead.

After all they were experienced assassins, what haven't they seen? Even if he tried to slow down his breathing and cover himself in dirt hoping to rely on the dark night to hide the clues, Kieran was sure they would have found out. The human body has invisible twitches and signs that are very difficult to hide.

However, his family's special meditation technique allowed the body to be in a state of stillness, using every bit of energy to repair broken cells and regain stamina. He had used this feature in a unique way to pretend to be a corpse. Otherwise he would've been poked full of holes as soon as the two of them arrived. 

This special meditation technique which he had been practising from a young age was also what allowed him to last so long after experiencing so many dangerous battles. 

It took special stellar energy from the stars in the sky into the body and used it to flush the skin, and then the bones and then finally the organs. Slowly, the body would be refined from the inside out. 

It is said that this technique, which was acquired hundreds of years ago by the Vale family, when practised to the highest level, could reduce the effect of time on the body and let the user live for hundreds of years. 

Of course this was just conjecture. For Kieran who had just begun refining his bones, something like that was still very far away.

A warrior like him used internal energy to produce supernatural effects. This special mediation method, while much slower than other techniques, allowed his energy to be very vast and powerful. It may not have much explosive power but it made him very durable.

After a short time, Kieran stood up. His internal energy was still in short supply but he quickly began searching the corpses. He couldn't stay here for long. 

First he searched the two new bodies very carefully. In the end, he looted a few pieces of silver and some banknotes, but Kieran didn't plan to use the banknotes. His experience had told him not to use anything that could possibly be traced. 

Then he moved on to the other bodies. He ignored the first person he had killed when he woke up - he had already searched him thoroughly, having gotten both the darts and the small sack of poison from him - and walked to the corpse of Broken Spear.

Originally he had just exchanged their outer clothes in order to quickly trick the two killers but he didn't have time to thoroughly search the corpse.

This time he found some more silver, and some small bottles of unknown potions. He didn't try his luck and threw the bottles away.

In addition, there is a letter sealed with wax.

There was no recipient written on the letter, so Kieran didn't know who it was for, but since Broken Spear was carrying it so close to his body he knew it must be important.

Kieran hesitated for a moment. 

"Well, it's too late either way, The Pale Oath will come after me regardless. Let's see what's so important…"

Kieran shook his head and opened the letter casually.

But the content is blurred and unreadable, clearly it is a secret letter. To get the real content, you need to read it in a specific way.

Kieran had been in The Pale Oath for nearly two years, so he naturally knew how to crack it. He immediately followed the instructions and parsed out a small line of words.

[Emerald City. Henry Vale, Head of the House of Vale. Ten thousand silver! ]

"Henry Vale?"

Isn't that my father?

Kieran looked at the letter that was slowly getting wet in the heavy rain and thought silently. Could this be a trap? What were the chances he found this letter at this time? 

But he was certain that his identity as the fourth son of the Vale family had never been revealed to anyone…

Suddenly the system sounded in his mind.

"Don't try to morally blackmail me…" Kieran was troubled. 

Even though he was now joined with the original body, the rational part of his mind that was formed on Earth was still telling him the best way to survive was to take this opportunity to hide far away in a place where the organisation could never find him. 

He had survived in the cracks of society for many years so he was confident that he could evade their eyes if he had enough time. 

But then thinking of the warm face of his father who had taken care of him and his brothers all by himself after his mother died, Kieran couldn't help but hesitate.

Looking at this again, Kieran finally made up his mind. It wasn't his personality to hide away. He had a system now and he was given a new chance at life. Was he going to spend the rest of his life living like a rat while he knew his family was in danger?

The answer was obvious. 

Anway, a skill like the Hidden Sword already gave him such a powerful advantage, he wasn't sure if what was in the golden treasure box was better but he felt like it couldn't be worse. 

He also noticed that it didn't say martial arts treasure box. Kieran couldn't help but wonder if there were things other than skills that the system could give him.
