Volume 1 Chapter 79: Wen Yang's Promise

Wen Yang paced anxiously on the balcony.

It had been twenty minutes since Ning Chu had entered the bathroom.

Only the sound of running water from the shower could be heard, with no other noise.

Through the frosted glass door, a blurry shadow could be vaguely seen standing still, not moving for a long time.

This made Wen Yang even more worried.

Unable to resist, he called out, "Are you done?"

"Yes."

After another moment of waiting, Ning Chu, now dressed, pushed open the door.

His hair was still wet, with his pant legs and shoulders damp from water.

His expression was somewhat disheartened, his eyes slightly red at the corners, and a lingering mist clouded his gaze.

Wen Yang followed him back into the dormitory, his eyes never leaving him.

Although Ning Chu often appeared emotionally distant and reluctant to talk to people, this was the first time Wen Yang had seen him look so desolate and hopeless.

Looking at that young and pretty face, now full of sorrow and misery, Wen Yang felt a pang in his heart.

He silently pulled over Zhang Shaoqing's chair and sat down next to Ning Chu.

"What's wrong?"

Wen Yang's tone had never been so gentle, his eyes full of concern.

But Ning Chu flinched, glancing at Wen Yang with disdain as he pursed his lips and said, "Don't gross me out. Get away from me!"

"What could be wrong? I just accidentally kicked the wall with my foot, and it hurt like hell."

The situation was already bad enough! Wen Yang's sudden gentleness made Ning Chu think too much.

He picked up the hairdryer from the table and started drying his long hair, which was almost covering his eyes.

Wen Yang's lips moved, but the noise from the hairdryer drowned out his words.

Ning Chu pretended not to notice, focusing entirely on drying his hair.

Seeing Ning Chu's avoidance, Wen Yang sighed helplessly. "You dare to criticize Shaoqing, but you ignore people when you're in a bad mood too."

He shook his head and got up, returning the chair to Zhang Shaoqing's desk.

Leaning against the wardrobe door, he crossed his arms and looked at Ning Chu's deliberately indifferent face.

"How about we have a drink?"

He suggested, using the same tactic he had employed with Zhang Shaoqing.

Ning Chu quickly shook his head in refusal.

"You pretended not to hear earlier, but now you can hear just fine."

"..."

Ning Chu continued to play dumb, meticulously drying every strand of his hair.

Once his hair was mostly dry, Ning Chu put down the hairdryer and sighed, feeling unmotivated to do anything.

Might as well give up~

No matter how hard he tried, things always seemed to go in a direction he didn't want.

"I'm going to sleep."

"It's just past eight."

Ning Chu glanced at Wen Yang behind him, responding weakly, "I'm tired."

"I'll go turn off the lights."

Ignoring Wen Yang, Ning Chu climbed into bed, laying down weakly and pulling the covers over his head.

The next moment, the lights in the dormitory went out, plunging the room into darkness.

As the darkness enveloped him, Ning Chu's heart felt cold as well.

What kind of sins had he committed in his past life? Why wouldn't the heavens just leave him alone?

In his previous life, his father had gone missing before he even had memories, and his mother had passed away from a severe illness early on, leaving him to rely on his grandparents.

After finally graduating from university and being able to work and earn money, he inexplicably ended up in this world, having to go through university all over again.

He had worked so hard, yet nothing ever seemed to go in a positive direction...

He didn't want to be a woman.

What was so good about being a woman?

Every month, there was that painful period.

And during sex, the pain could be unbearable.

If he got pregnant and had to give birth, those ten months would be unimaginable.

And being pinned down by a man... just thinking about it made him sick.

If he really became a woman, would he still be himself?

Wen Yang stood silently by the bed, looking at Ning Chu curled up under the covers, frowning in confusion as he returned to the desk.

Come to think of it, has Ning Chu been having some trouble lately?

Could it be that he's also heartbroken?

Could it be that his interactions with girls have made Ning Chu particularly upset?

Wen Yang suddenly recalled Ning Chu's increasingly developed chest muscles lately.

Was it because of his feminine appearance and figure?

Wen Yang only felt a headache coming on. When Zhang Shaoqing was heartbroken, he could at least drink with him. But Ning Chu had never liked alcohol.

He wasn't good at offering comforting words, especially since he didn't even know what had happened.

"Hey, Ning Chu?" Wen Yang asked cautiously, "Can't you tell me what's going on?"

"..."

"Isn't it better than carrying it all by yourself? We're brothers, so we can handle anything together."

"How about we get some late-night snacks? Eat something good to vent, or maybe go for a run, watch a movie?"

Ning Chu poked his head out from under the covers, not saying anything, and turned over to look at Wen Yang below the bed.

In the faint light leaking through the crack in the door, he could see Wen Yang's anxious and worried face.

He sighed heavily, burying his face in the pillow, and spoke in a pleading tone, "Can you stop interacting with any girls in the future? I'm begging you."

As long as Wen Yang didn't trigger the plot, he wouldn't gradually become more like a girl, and Wen Yang could remain a virgin.

However, Wen Yang was a bit confused by his words. "Huh?"

What did this have to do with his interactions with girls?

Wen Yang didn't ask for a reason.

In fact, he had asked many times before, but Ning Chu would always either say something righteous about worrying he'd be deceived or concerned about his safety, or he'd claim to be jealous of Wen Yang's good looks and the fact that girls chased after him...

At first, Wen Yang somewhat believed it, but now, both reasons seemed pretty far-fetched.

"Okay." After a brief moment of surprise, Wen Yang nodded firmly. "I won't talk to other girls anymore. I'll stay far away when I see them."

"..." Ning Chu lifted his head and looked at Wen Yang again, muttering, "You said before you wanted a girlfriend."

"Forget it, okay? I'll stay single for life." Wen Yang rolled his eyes at him. "Come on down, let's play a game."

"Alright."

With Wen Yang's promise, Ning Chu's mood eased a little, and he slowly climbed out of bed.

He hoped Wen Yang could keep his word and not talk to other girls... That way, the plot could be avoided at its root, and the feminization caused by disrupting the plot could be prevented.

Wen Yang turned on the light, glancing at Ning Chu's red, tear-streaked eyes.

Seeing Ning Chu looking so pitiful and tearful, Wen Yang's heart softened, and his curiosity quickly faded away.

All his questions seemed less important than making Ning Chu happy.
