Chapter 34: A Surprise Call

"You what?!" Diana exclaimed in shock as she came to the revelation of who was behind her state. "In the heat of the moment, my judgement was clouded okay! It was a one time thing and I'll personally apologize to Cassie later this week."

Juliette murmured as her eyes darted all over. Guilt overrid her senses as her fingers constantly fidgeted about, her demeanor shaky as her tone was all mousy. "It's good that you'll apologize to Cassie but good God, I didn't think that Andrew would put you in such a state."

Diana mused as she ran her fingers across her neck, taken aback by the bites that claimed her. Seated across from her with a chair, she was baffled with Andrew's work. "So how big was it?" Juliette squinted her eyes as she scrutinized Diana for asking such a question.

"Why would you possibly need to know that?! It's not like you plan on sleeping with him, right?!" Unsure with what ran through Diana's mind, Juliette tried gauging Diana's thoughts. "Of course not! I know that he's in a relationship with Cassie and I wouldn't do much as dare interrupt what they have going on. I was just curious is all."

Seeing that she was being genuine about it, Juliette divulged. "It was massive, about twelve inches. Not to mention his indefinite stamina and his way with me. He didn't have to be so rough and thanks to him, I can barely walk."

As her tone shifted from hostility to a vague sense of longing, Diana was puzzled as to whether Juliette was serious about it being a one time thing or there was something more to it. "From the way you're describing it, it seems that you fully enjoyed it ."

A soft pillow crashed onto Diana's face. "I'll say one more time, I wasn't thinking straight okay. And besides it doesn't help that he knew exactly how to get to me. The way he would fondle my breasts, his licks all over my body and his teases. It was maddening."

Diana let out an agreeable hum to her ramblings. "Well if you don't want to remember it then stop describing it so accurately. Jeez I can already feel my own body reignite with your words alone."

Within the light heartedness of the moment, Juliette couldn't tell whether Diana was being serious or not. "You better not try anything funny with him." Her tone stern as she locked eyes with Diana.

"Getting defensive are we Juliette? I'm not going to steal him from you or from Cassie. We've known each other since we were little. He's like a brother to me." Standing to her feet, she made her way to the kitchen where she brought her a glass of water.

"And besides, it would be weird to sleep with him given that he's already slept with you." Wondering what Diana meant by that, she was about to ask before a pillow hit her face and toppled to her legs which resulted with an involuntary shake of her body.

"Diana! Don't test me!" Diana on the other hand was rather eager to test her limits and Juliette could feel it with the playful smile that she saw on Diana's face. "Oops! My bad. Hahaha!"

Just as he was about to hop in the uber, Andrew was met with a card on his seat. Picking it up, the card felt fresh and crisp like a business card. Inspecting it, he was met with a plague mask sigil to it and next to it a set of numbers.

'Ten years and now you come out of hiding?' His mind already decoding the possible set of numbers, the driver pulled down the small shutter that separated the two. "Here."

The voice deep and distorted, making it hard to tell who it actually was. The driver donned black leather gloves as he gifted him a phone. It wasn't that modern in terms of design however he didn't mind as h had questions that he wanted answered.

Without warning, the car sprang to life and sped through the city, the sight I flashing neon lights whoozing past him.

He dialed in the numbers that he had decoded which resulted in a phone number. The faint ringing of the phone could be heard. "Hello? Who is this?" The first voice that he heard was that of someone about his age not to mention he deduced that it was female.

"It's Andrew." His tone monotone as he mindlessly looked outside. He could hear the shuffling of feet before the phone was switched to another set of hands. "Oh, Andrew. It's been a long time since we last met. I take it that you have questions for me?"

The voice now belonged to that of a middle-aged man. It was clear with how slurry his tone was, he was in the middle of a meal. "Yes, could we arrange a meeting as soon as possible?"

The response from the other end was dead before springing back to the conversation. "For me personally to come to you would be too much for me. I'll send a puppet of mine to help with all the questions that run through your head. You'll know who it is when you run into it."

'So he is keeping an eye on me.' He had a suspicion that he was being monitored the entire time. "No you can't remove the probes that you have on you but you can facilitate it to someone else through the means you already had in store. Yes I'm talking about Cassie."

'So it was to that great of an extent. It would seem that the serum he injected me with at the time has probes that monitor my every movement. Implicating that he can gauge the future as well if not better than I.'

"Can you remove the scenes where you have my memories blocked off? It's rather annoying." The voice on the other hand hesitated for a bit. "But if I did then wouldn't your life be completely boring. Aren't the events where you can't tell what's going to happen interesting?"

"Or I could make a deal with you right now but I already know what your answer will be so let's both just skip it. Any more questions you might harbor you delicate chess piece of mine will have to wait till then."

Without warning, the end of the phone was cut off. He placed the phone next to him as he clutched his head. The answers that he had been wondering for all his life would finally be answered. As for the deal his recipient was talking about consisted about his humanity.

He wanted to have it completely restored however seeing that the other party refused, the possibility of the benefits outweighing the losses were highly probable. 'Was I going to lose my skill to foresee the future or my perfection or was it both?'

If the option was the last then he would be forced to refrain from parting with such a skill. 'Is it not what we humans desire to achieve? The safety of others and mutual benefits alongside other priorities.' The future he foresaw harboured many dangers and challenges.

It would be impractical to give up such a skill so soon. Sure he would regain his senses however what would've been the point if what followed was nothing more but pain and misery. It was a better alternative to have his 'perfection' even at the cost of indefinite apathy.

'After all we have to make sacrifices for the ones we love.' He closed his eyes as he contemplated more on the subject. 'But the question is do I really love those around me? What I did with Juliette will negatively affect Cassie and yet I feel nothing about it. Not then nor now do I feel the slightest shred of regret or shame.'

After a couple of minutes later, he arrived home with his mind preoccupied with what had transpired earlier. Instead of worrying himself about it, he ignored it for now.

Despite how much he tried to gain insight as to what would transpire at the time, he ran into an obstruction that brought him darkness as results.

Something he was familiar with when he tried to peer way too far into the future or when specific events occurred such as the ride back home. For him, he safely delivered Juliette home however from there, it would cut to pure darkness.

These were the few times that he was even remotely thrilled given that he couldn't tell what was to come. It felt like pure gambling with what happened, something that he wasn't comfortable with given that he was used to the concept of knowing the cause, effect and results of the world around him.

"Next up we have Kevin Blore against Andrew Graves." Andrew made his way to the ring, uninspired and bored as always being his signature look as he looked at his opponent.

Kevin had a medium build, his short brown hair barely swinging with his arms up as he hopped around. With his guard up, it was clear that it would be nothing like yesterday's match. "I heard that you were capable of taking down someone pretty big yesterday so I hope that you live to the rumors and don't disappoint."

Kevin mused as he would sporadically shift his body from side to side, as if bait Andrew who stood unfazed. Rather than taking the initiative, he let Kevin close the gap between the two.

*Whoosh-Whoosh-Whoosh*

Easily moving his body about, he was capable of evading all of Kevin's attacks. However he wasn't planning on wasting his time here. With a surprise turn on, he tactfully made his advances which took Kevin by surprise as he withdrew.

*Bam*

A hit landed on his face and he felt the power behind it. Clutching his jaw, he could feel the sting permeate all over his face. 'Damn it. If I hadn't retreated then he would have had me out within a matter of seconds.'

Rushing in, Andrew made his attacks felt all over his body. The power was something that Kevin couldn't keep on blocking indefinitely given his hands were up. Within four punches, Kevin could feel the mind numbing pain as if his own arms were being crushed by a trailer.

A few more hits was all it took for Andrew to be declared the winner. "Andrew with four points making him the first participant to claim such a point. If he keeps this up then he'll no doubt tear right through the competition. I think that we may have our champion right here!"
