Chapter 126: Reinforcements Arrive

A few more days passed, and Konoha's reinforcements gradually arrived on the same day.

It seemed that the Uchiha clan was in a competition with the Hyuga clan, as they were the first team to arrive.

They were warmly received by Lord Tsunade.

Kawaki was momentarily stunned when he saw the Uchiha clan leader. He didn't expect the leader to be so gutsy.

Which clan leader would stay safely in the village? He was the first one to come to the battlefield.

Fugaku, following beside the leader, looked at Kawaki with a strange expression.

"We've arranged a place for you to rest. I'll send someone to show you the way."

"And we'll send someone to inform you when the combat meeting starts."

Tsunade politely had the troops of the two clans taken to rest.

Before leaving, the Uchiha clan leader kindly smiled at Kawaki.

The two sides now had a relatively good foundation for cooperation. After careful thought, Kawaki understood the meaning of the leader coming to the battlefield in person.

"That old fox really has the nerve to do it."

Tsunade was a bit confused when she heard Kawaki say this.

"Who are you talking about?"

"Nobody. Just wait and see."

Kawaki gave a mysterious smile, his words having a double meaning. Tsunade thought he was talking about the subsequent support troops.

"They should be arriving soon."

Sakumo didn't come. He wasn't a leader and was too lazy to join in the fun.

It wasn't until afternoon that all the Konoha Ninjas had arrived.

Tsunade arranged everything properly and left with Kawaki.

Now that the support troops had arrived, it was time to discuss the combat plan.

Decisions needed to be made on how to fight and who to fight.

Iwagakure and Sunagakure must have already made their preparations. Now it was up to which of the three sides would make the first move.

In the evening, after Kawaki and Tsunade had dinner, they sat idly in the courtyard.

The two young ones brought out the post - dinner tea and desserts and then left on their own initiative.

Whether staying in the room or going out for a stroll was a wise choice.

"Do you think Sunagakure will ally with Iwagakure?"

Tsunade voiced her concern.

Once the two villages allied, Konoha would face a lot of pressure.

A lean camel is still bigger than a horse (even a weakened powerful entity is still stronger than a smaller one). Even though the Third Kazekage was dead, the number of Sunagakure Ninjas was still not to be underestimated.

"Probably not. Sunagakure wouldn't dare to conspire with a tiger."

Firstly, according to the original plot, they fought their own battles during the Second Shinobi World War. Secondly, Sunagakure didn't have the capital to ally with Iwagakure now.

Unless they were willing to be a subordinate, but the pride of a great nation wouldn't allow them to do so.

The most likely scenario is that Konoha will fight the two villages (Iwagakure and Sunagakure) separately.

Although it was still one against two, there was a big difference.

"I hope your speculation is right."

"We..."

Tsunade had only spoken two words when a report from outside interrupted her.

"Lord Tsunade, the Uchiha clan leader is here to pay a visit."

A Konoha Ninja came in to report.

"Let him in."

Tsunade frowned, wondering what the Uchiha clan leader wanted from her.

Kawaki's lips curled slightly. As he had expected, that old fox was really a gambler.

A moment later, the Uchiha clan leader was wearing his usual clothes and had a beaming face. Then, followed by Fugaku, he entered the courtyard.

"Lord Tsunade, Lord Kawaki."

Kawaki and Tsunade put on no airs. Respect is a two-way street.

"Freshly brewed tea. Come and take a seat."

The two of them stood up and courteously invited the Uchiha clan leader and Fugaku to sit down.

"The tea is good."

The Uchiha clan leader sat down and took a sip, not bringing up the matter right away.

Fugaku seemed a bit restless. He still lacked some experience.

No wonder the Uchiha clan leader always took him along.

Some things can't be learned just by talking about them. He had to experience them firsthand.

Just as in the original plot where Fugaku took young Itachi to the battlefield.

"This is the most expensive tea here. If it doesn't taste good, I'll give them a hard time."

Kawaki handled the situation with ease, and the two sat together again, chatting like old friends.

It was hard to believe that they were at each other's throats the last time they met.

"Haha, Lord Kawaki is joking."

"You're so magnanimous. How could you argue with small merchants."

The Uchiha clan leader let out a hearty laugh and seemed to be chatting away merrily with Kawaki.

Only they themselves knew what they were up to.

Tsunade and Fugaku were out of their depth in this conversation, clearly on a different wavelength and at a loss for words.

They could only sip their tea silently, glancing from Kawaki to the Uchiha clan leader.

With the atmosphere already quite harmonious, Kawaki gradually steered the conversation away from small talk and towards the main topic.

"It's all for the village. It's my duty."

"Lord Kawaki and Lord Tsunade are now well - known far and wide."

"Which country doesn't know about your achievements?"

The Uchiha clan leader smoothly flattered them.

Fugaku was stunned. He'd never seen his proud Uncle in such a state.

"Nonsense. It's all blood, sweat, and tears."

Kawaki replied on behalf of Tsunade.

"The old fox's words were impeccable, and Kawaki understood the hidden meaning right away.

"No one's blood will be spilled in vain."

"I, Kawaki Hatake, always keep my word."

Kawaki made a promise once again.

Hearing this, the Uchiha clan leader's face lit up. That was all he came for today.

"Of course I trust Lord Kawaki."

"The medical staff of our Uchiha clan have a good reputation now."

"That's all thanks to your own efforts."

Kawaki smiled faintly and took a sip of tea.

Kawaki held the upper hand in the negotiation from start to finish.

The Uchiha clan leader adopted a very humble stance. Despite the cryptic conversation, it still left him feeling satisfied.

"Thank you for the compliment. In the upcoming battles, our Uchiha clan will follow your orders."

The Uchiha clan leader's words carried great weight, as if he were entrusting the lives of the clan members going to the battlefield to Kawaki and Tsunade.

"You're overthinking it. Just do your best."

Kawaki was very satisfied with the Uchiha clan leader's attitude. After this battle, he definitely wouldn't treat the Uchiha clan badly.

"I'm serious."

The Uchiha clan leader picked up his teacup and stared at Kawaki. His ambition and conviction were clearly visible.

"Pleasure doing business with you."

Kawaki picked up his teacup and clinked his cup with the other's. The negotiation was over.

"Well, I won't disturb you any longer. I'll take my leave."

The Uchiha clan leader finished his tea, stood up, gave a slight nod, and walked off without looking back, followed by Fugaku Uchiha.

"Take care on your way."

Kawaki and Tsunade also stood up and accompanied the two out of the courtyard.

In the moonlight, the Uchiha clan leader walked briskly, his mood as light as his steps.

Now that he'd decided to place his bet, he wouldn't hesitate at all.

"What kind of secret signals were you two sending?"

Tsunade didn't speak until the Uchiha clan leader and Fugaku were out of sight.

She kept silent during the whole conversation.

"Haha, he's come to pledge his allegiance to you."

"The Uchiha clan will be your sharpest blade from now on."

Kawaki put his arm around Tsunade's shoulders casually, and the two walked into the room intimately.

When you're happy, you should do something to keep the good feeling.
