Adam stood very still deep inside the thick forest. The air around him felt quiet and a little bit strange, like no one else was there. The silence felt deep, like being the only person in the whole world. His sharp eyes, the piercing blue ones of his character, looked all around him, scanning everything.
The really tall trees stood close together, their branches spread out high above. The thick bushes and smaller trees on the ground were so dense it was hard to see very far ahead, like a natural wall. All the green leaves and branches formed a thick roof over his head, blocking out a lot of the sunlight and making the forest floor shady and mysterious.
The air felt thick with a strange kind of energy, like something important was about to happen. Adam felt a little bit excited and a little bit nervous. He focused his attention back on the blue glowing window that was still floating in the air right in front of him.
The system window was showing the detailed words about his special skill, "Reality Manipulation." He had just looked at the information about his 'Administrator' class, but now he needed to understand his unique skill, the one that sounded unbelievable.
Adam used a simple wave of his hand, a natural motion in the game, and the class description window disappeared.
"Status window," he said quietly. Just like that, instantly, another blue screen appeared floating in the air. This one showed his basic character details again – his name, level, stats, and skills list.
Adam had already read all about his special class, the Administrator. He knew it was super powerful and let him do things other players couldn't. Now, the most important thing was to read about his skill.
That 'Reality Manipulation' skill was the most unique part of his character, the one that didn't seem real. He had to know what it could really do. Was the name just something fancy? Was the skill actually weak? Or was it, as he hoped, a truly "monster skill," something incredibly powerful and game-breaking?
Adam was very excited to find out about his "Reality Manipulation" skill. His mind was already racing with so many ideas and possible explanations for what the skill could be, what it could let him do.
What would it be like to change things in the game just by thinking about it? Could he make monsters appear? Could he change the environment? Could he do even bigger things? All these possibilities were flying around in his head, making him even more eager. But all these thoughts and ideas were just guesses; he hadn't actually read the detailed description of the skill yet.
But Adam's eyes weren't really focused on his basic stats in the status window. He already knew those were low. His eyes were fixed, locked tightly, on the part of the screen that listed his skills. Specifically, he was staring at the single line that showed his unique ability:
Reality Manipulation: Level 1.
A mix of curiosity, needing to know more, and intense excitement flashed across his face. He couldn't hide his feelings.
"I've never seen a skill like this before, in any game, anywhere," he murmured out loud, the words soft in the quiet forest. He took a deep breath, a simple action that helped him calm his excitement a little. Then, with a feeling of anticipation, he tapped on the name of the skill on the screen.
A new window immediately appeared, floating in the air right where the status window had been. This window was much simpler; it was just text, giving details about the selected skill. At the top were the words "Reality Manipulation," and below it was the description:
Reality Manipulation
This skill allows the player to manipulate reality to their will.
Adam stared at the incredibly short description. His first feeling was surprise, a big surprise, to see that the explanation for such a powerful-sounding skill was so incredibly small. Just one sentence? That was it? But despite the description being only a few words long, those few words told him exactly what he had already started to suspect, everything that Adam knew about the potential of the skill from its name.
"Manipulate reality to their will." It was exactly what it sounded like. He could change things in the game world just by wanting to, by using this skill. The simple words confirmed his wildest hopes about its power.
Adam's lips slowly curved into a smile again, a bigger, more genuine smile this time.
It was the smile of someone who had just found something incredibly rare and powerful, like finding a legendary treasure no one else knew about. But this feeling of pure excitement and success was very short-lived. His eyes quickly darted to the bottom of the window, where some text was written in a bright, glaring red color. Red meant danger, a warning.
Warning:
This skill is currently at Level 1 and can only be used twice a day. Once both uses are exhausted, the skill will not activate again for 24 hours. Additionally, the player can only manipulate small aspects of reality.
Adam let out a sigh. This time, it wasn't a thoughtful sigh; it was a sigh filled with frustration. His initial great excitement was immediately dampened, cooled down by these limits.
"So," he muttered, shaking his head a little in disappointment. "It's limited. I can only use it twice a day? And only for small things?" That felt like a big restriction on something named
"Reality Manipulation." But after only a moment, he quickly got control of his feelings. A determined look, strong and serious, took the place of the disappointment on his face. He wasn't going to let limitations stop him. He knew how valuable this was.
Adam had a much clearer idea now of why the game system might have given him such an unbelievably powerful skill right at the very start of the game. It was because it had these serious limitations. Now Adam understood why that limit of only two uses per day, and only for small things, was used.
Without these limits at Level 1, the skill would be far too powerful, probably breaking the game entirely right from the beginning. But even with the limits, it didn't matter that much to Adam in the long run. Why? Because this skill, even at Level 1, was completely beyond imitation.
No other player had it. No one else could do even these "small" manipulations of reality. It was unique, and it was his alone. It was a truly special ability that would grow much stronger.
"At least I actually have a skill," he said out loud, speaking to the silent forest. His voice was filled with determination, a strong will. "Most players, when they first start, have nothing at all. They have to train just to unlock their first basic attack. I even have a class already unlocked!" He remembered how hard he had to work in his past life just to get basic abilities and unlock a class.
Adam realized just how incredibly lucky and how far ahead he was compared to everyone else. He had something right now, right at the very start, that no other player in the entire game possessed. He didn't just have better gear; he had a unique class and a unique skill.
Adam felt like comparing himself to the other new players he'd seen at the spawn point. They were just beginning their journey, learning how to take their first few steps, stumbling around figuring things out. But Adam? Adam felt like he had already been given wings, like he could already fly while everyone else was still on the ground, just starting to walk.
He had a massive head start, not just because of his future knowledge, but because of his unique game status.
As Adam thought more about his unique situation, about being an Administrator with this weird skill, memories from his past life came back to the surface again. He recalled how difficult it had been for players just to get their first character class in the old game.
Players had to grind and fight monsters, working really hard, until they reached Level 10 before they could even choose and unlock their first class, like Fighter or Mage or Rogue.
But here he was, starting the game right at Level 1, and he already had an unlocked class – the Administrator class, which was not just powerful but probably the rarest class that could exist, maybe even hidden from most players forever. It was completely against the normal rules of the game, proving how special his pre-revival clear must have been.
He clenched his fists again, feeling the familiar leather of his gloves. His eyes, the bright blue ones, gleamed, not just with determination now, but with a focused intensity. He had a long way to go to become strong enough to face the future challenges he knew were coming, but he had the tools to get there faster than anyone else.
"I can't afford to give up easily," he said, his voice low and firm, confirming his resolve. He had come back for a reason, with a mission, and he wouldn't let small limitations or setbacks stop him. He closed the system window, making the blue screen disappear once more. He took another look around the forest, seeing it not just as trees and bushes, but as the place where his real growth would begin.
The forest stretched out in every direction, the trees seeming to go on forever, their presence overwhelming. It was intimidating, being alone in such a vast, wild place, but it was also thrilling. This was the frontier, the place where he could start building his power.
"Okay," Adam decided firmly, speaking his plan aloud. "I need to level up, fast." Gaining levels was the most basic way to make his character stronger, increase his stats, and gain new abilities within his class.
"The stronger I get, the more I can unlock the potential of my Administrator class," he reasoned. The class description had said that the higher his level, the greater the "accessibility," meaning the more powerful administrative abilities he could use, maybe even higher levels of his skills.
As he took a step forward, starting to walk deeper into the forest, a sudden thought struck him. It wasn't a thought about fighting; it was a thought about strategy, about how to use his unique advantage wisely.
"Why not hide my true strength?" he whispered, the idea taking shape. His eyes narrowed as he considered the wisdom of this. If people knew he had a powerful unique class and a skill called Reality Manipulation, he would become a target immediately.
Players would hunt him, corporations would try to capture him, the game system itself might even try to stop him. A plan started forming clearly in his mind.
"I'll keep my true abilities secret," he decided. "I'll use my normal stats and perhaps some basic Administrator powers subtly, but I'll mostly focus on using my future knowledge to get stronger quietly, away from everyone." No one needed to know the full extent of what he was capable of, not until he was strong enough to handle the consequences.
"No one needs to know what I'm capable of," he repeated, the secret identity plan solidifying.
Satisfied with his strategy – to hide his unique class and skill while secretly using their benefits to become overwhelmingly strong – Adam found a spot on the rough, uneven ground that was a little more open than where he had stopped before. He sat down carefully. The coarse earth, full of little rocks and roots beneath him, felt uncomfortable and slightly scratched at his legs through his pants, but he barely noticed the discomfort.
His mind was completely focused now, on the next step: testing his unique skill, Reality Manipulation. He had to see what it actually did when he tried to use it.
"Reality Manipulation," Adam said firmly, speaking the name of the skill aloud in the game environment. This felt like giving a command to the game itself. Immediately, something happened. The air right around him seemed to shimmer and ripple, like looking through heat waves. A new blue system window popped up in front of him, right after the air shimmered. This window just had three simple words:
Reality Manipulation Skill Activated.
Suddenly, cutting through the natural sounds of the forest, a calm, mechanical voice echoed out. It sounded like a computer system speaking directly to him, a robotic but clear voice.
"Reality Manipulation skill activated," the voice stated.
Then, it gave an instruction: "Please specify command."
As the mechanical voice finished, Adam noticed some new things had appeared on the blue skill window that had just popped up. In the middle of the window, he saw a small icon that looked like a microphone. On the top left corner and the top right corner of the window, there were also two other small icons he hadn't seen before.
The microphone icon made him realize something instantly. He blinked his blue eyes in surprise for a second, but then he quickly understood how the skill worked at this level.
"Ah," he thought. "I have to say what I want to change. I have to tell the game what I want the skill to do, using my voice."
He took a moment to think. What was a good, simple command to test the skill without doing anything too crazy or noticeable? And something useful, maybe related to his earlier thoughts about leveling. After thinking for just a moment, a command came to mind. He spoke clearly into the silent forest, directing his voice towards the floating microphone icon.
"Change the level-up system. Don't let me level up unless I give explicit consent." Explicit consent meant he had to specifically say "yes" or "level up now" for his level to increase, even if he had enough experience points.
This would give him control over his leveling, allowing him to stay at a low level on the outside while secretly gaining massive amounts of experience or stacking up his Administrator power.
The system responded immediately, almost instantly. Another new window, looking similar to the others, materialized right in front of him, confirming the change.
Level-Up Consent is now required for this player to upgrade levels.
Adam stared at the confirmation message. He was very surprised. It was that easy? He just said the command, and the game system changed a core rule for him? Just like that? This is incredible, he thought.
If it was this simple, he really could do almost anything he wanted within the game world, within the limits of his skill level. He could change game rules for himself, give himself advantages... the possibilities were endless!
Adam smiled widely, a feeling of powerful excitement swelling within him. He could have spent time just enjoying the feeling of this success, the confirmation of his power. But before he could truly revel in, truly enjoy, his success and think more about the possibilities, a bright red warning window suddenly appeared. It popped up right over the confirmation window. Red meant trouble.
Error:
This change exceeds the limits of Reality Manipulation Level 1.
Adam's excitement vanished instantly, replaced by a sharp feeling of concern and worry. He read the message quickly, then saw more text appearing below it, explanations that sounded technical, like computer code trying to figure something out:
Exception granted. Since the user is an admin, all exceptions are being ignored... The system administrator is actively looking into the game's code to see if there is a problem.
As soon as Adam read that message, he got a little worried, a knot forming in his stomach. An "Exception granted"? What did that mean? "The system administrator is actively looking into the game's code." That sounded really bad.
Did the game have a real administrator, like a person in charge of the game? Or was it the powerful AI, the one he read about that would become a big problem later? If this 'system administrator' was active and looking at the code, it meant he would likely face some kind of problem.
He might be discovered. His Administrator class might be removed. His skill might be taken away.
He waited, tensed, bracing himself. He stood like that for a few minutes, holding his breath, listening. But nothing happened. He didn't receive any new messages, no alerts, no signs that anyone or anything had found him or was stopping him. He looked back at the windows.
The message about his level-up system being changed was still there. All the changes he had made, the command he had given, had actually been applied to his character's system window. The change worked, even though the system threw up a warning.
Adam exhaled, a shaky breath of relief. Okay. For now, it seemed he was safe. The change had been allowed, probably because he was an 'Admin', as the message said. But the gravity of the warning, the seriousness of what it meant, wasn't lost on him anymore.
"So, even my skill has limits," he thought, his mind calming slightly from the fear but starting to race again with understanding. He couldn't just change anything he wanted, at least not right now, not with the skill at Level 1.
The 'small aspects of reality' part of the initial warning was very important. He had tried to change a fundamental game rule, and that was a bigger change than Level 1 allowed. But somehow, his Administrator class had forced the change through anyway, triggering an alert.
He sat there for a moment longer, sitting on the rough ground, processing everything that had just happened. The skill was unbelievably powerful, no doubt about it. He had changed a game rule with his voice! But it wasn't unlimited. There were clear restrictions, limits on what he could do with it right now.
Adam's thoughts immediately turned to the future again. His memory of what was coming was his greatest advantage. "If I can level up this skill," he mused, speaking his thoughts quietly, "maybe I can remove some of these restrictions. Maybe I can change bigger things." But for now, until he understood the skill and its limits better, he needed to be very careful.
That warning about the system administrator was serious. And he only had one use left for today. "I can't afford to waste my limited uses," he decided. He needed to use the last one wisely, or save it.
He stood up from the ground, brushing off the little bits of dirt and leaves that had stuck to his black clothes. The forest around him seemed still and quiet again, like it was waiting. But Adam knew it wouldn't stay that way for long. He knew that monster characters lurked in the shadows, ready to attack, and other players could wander by at any moment, ready to cause trouble if they saw something interesting.
"Okay," Adam said, his voice firm and ready. "I need to find a safe place to train first." He couldn't just start fighting monsters out in the open if he wanted to keep a low profile. And he certainly couldn't test his skills where anyone might see. "Somewhere quiet," he thought. "Somewhere I can fight and maybe even try my abilities without drawing any attention from other players or that 'system administrator'."
As he began walking deeper into the forest, leaving the edge of the beginner village area behind, Adam's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and plans.
He thought about his incredibly powerful, secret Administrator class. He thought about his mysterious and limited, yet unbelievably promising, Reality Manipulation skill.
