Combat class: being the Jack

On my way home. I know I will need to prepare for the upcoming combat class. The next combat class is physical orientated. This is an advantage to me. With Earth's knowledge being with me. Be it fist, palm, sword, rapier, great sword, bow. The only thing I need is physical coordination.

"A wooden sword, a small bow, with 10 arrows please." I handed over 30 copper coins. Those are training use item. 10 copper each, 10 arrows a bundle.

I can speak to mother earth. She is always be with me on this. Now she is verbally correcting my posture and how to strike. Of course, I am the only one who can hear her. Dad thought my stance is a joke. Until he actually stood in front of me. If not for him being a full adult I could've won. I showed no gaps to him, hence he powered through my defense.

I immediately changed to practice the bow before I move on to rapier style practice. But, no, Mother. What did you mean? Why, the moment I pull the bow and my eye fixed to aiming, there is a + crosshair? Is this supposed to be a first person shooter? I made a few shots. Not all of them hits the exact centre of the crosshair. But still within the range. Good enough for class practice.

This sword I got is not really the correct thing for actively doing rapier thrusts. Once or twice is fine. But overdoing it will make it feel wrong. The weapon weight is not exactly designed for that. Swinging like a greatsword using a small wooden sword feels even more wrong. Something is missing on the hand. But at least, I got a gist of what I needed.

Curious to my findings earlier. I took a stone. Nothing, until I actually tried to aim for a throw, I can even see the line of flight like throwing a nade on those shooting game.

It is almost late night, ALMOST. I decided to fetch some thin log and cut a spearhead. This world actually didn't have a spear. I be amazed. Heh, a 5 year old making an unknown weapon and already have a combat style on it. Not sure if my findings on sugarcane, combined with this, can get me a lower ranked noble status for major contributions to the kingdom?

Today is the mock battle class. It is not the academy trying to be unfair against Kei. But Kei is the one transferring in the middle of the year. Students will first warm up by stretching themselves and swinging their practice weapon a few times before being grouped. Selene is being grouped with Kei, being a class rep. Xavier is grouped with one of his lackeys. The instructors here purposely grouped Xavier to his lackeys to reduce bullying and limit Xavier's growth. Since he will be sparring with the same few people. Even when they are separate classes during theory. Combat classes are usually held by two class randomly or "randomly" picked by principal. The rules are simple and straightforward. So long the landed hit is a physical non affinity based move, it counts.

Selene gave me the cue to think again what is the rule. As someone who thinks with the earth mindset. I know exactly what it means to read the Terms and Conditions before signing a contracted plan like insurance wording. Whatever they mention, not mentioned, order of mention, has it own meaning.

They didn't state usage of affinity is banned. It is just no strike from affinity. As a ground type user I am not allowed to fire a mud ball, but I can always sway my opponent's footing and strike them with a sword.

Selene's opponent is the rep of the other class, Mira. She is using a standard sword and shield combo. So her swings are single handed instead of both arms.

And yes, my way of thinking is correct. Selene is using a bow this time. Her affinity of plants negates the weakness of having limited arrows. All she needs to do is time her shots and keep her distance. Mira on the other hand. Uses water to reflect light in the attempt of blinding her opponent. Good thinking, this world isn't as stupid as he thought. The practice is halted when five minutes are up. There are so few instructors available. Every student has to be given a chance to spar. Hence there is a 5 minute rule.

It is now my turn. But before the instructor announced my opponent. Xavier volunteered to be my partner. If I were just anyone I might actually fall for this unjust. But Xavier is known to be a fire user. Being one in this session is actually a disadvantage. A fire can neither use fire to change the terrain nor apply affinity to weapon.

Fire sword? Leave the fact of wooden sword aside. The moment you cast fire on your copper or iron sword you are softening the metal, and the combat will be the external force hitting the weapon. Leave these actions to the professionals. Remember, kids, do not play with fire. Even adults shouldn't be playing with fire.

"Lowly commoner, bow down to my sword!"

Such confidence, trying to pit a two handed sword against me? In my brain, I have minimum a hundred year worth of sword style research, articles, refined techniques of different schools. I am not going to lose to this kind of talk big no action.

I pointed to the stash of weapons. "Choose any. I am concluding this nonsense." Heh, how many girls will fall for me with that? Heh.

"Granted! He exclaims. BOW!" Wow, such arrogance. Did you seriously think I will miss or let you parry? Or I will use up the standard ten arrows per bundle rule? Childish.

"Ready? Star.." Right when the instructor ends his "t" hands down ninety degrees. I immediately fired a arrow on his left leg. He seems to be right handed, his left leg is probably not moving if his first step is right leg. Aim? My shot is assisted with cross hair. 100% hit at this distance.

"Ended!" Clean shot below five seconds. Overwhelming victory declared…

We still at least have four minutes. I volunteered… To crush his confidence.

"We are supposed to have at least four minutes. Let him choose another."

"Sword and shield!"

Hmm? Desperately trying to force me to swing my sword with one arm? Whoever gave you that confidence that me being weaker is an advantage to you? As quoted in a fiction "You know? Just by the fact of me being a bit weaker, doesn't actually make you any stronger at all."

Being in a combat, anything on your body is your weapon. My brain is full of all kinds of theories. Even tutorial reels. I can easily throw him off balance by parrying and a sweep from Judo or Akido. Or a direct shield smash. Sword hilt strike. I can even drop my sword and do some boxing. But hey. I am supposed to let him taste some disgrace.

As planned, block and parry with shield. Akido leg sweep followed with hilt strike on….. shoulder. Not going for the neck. We still have three more minutes.

"Choose." I pointed. "Try defeating my Warlord Fortress Stance"

"Fist! How about that! Since you are so confident!"

"GRANTED!" I returned his words right back at him. He just chose his worst poison.

Being empty handed to me means no limits. It is perfectly fine to hit soft spots except groins and head. This world is plain stupid. The instructor is dumbfounded. But approved since my word is already out.

Rejecting someone in such event is disrespectful to individual rights.

"Start!"

Heh, all i need to do is wait for him to swing his first down second up strike. I followed with a kick to liver. GG KO.

Two instructors carried him indoors.

I looked at the instructor who gave start cue, do you… wanna try a bit?

He sure do, it is written all over his face.

Both parties fist fight. "Anytime is ok" declared instructors.

"Right!" I declared and charged to him. Same kick towards him. He ended up kneeling down. He definitely felt it. If only I were at least 12 years old the kick would be harder and more accurate…

A kid of 5 years old held his own against not just any adult but kingdom certified trainer caused an uproar.

I still have one minute.. fine, I give up this time.

Ahh I said it. Whatever stupid stance naming sense. It is going to be a black history on my adulthood.
