Chapter 92: Adrian

The past few weeks had been a whirlwind. Between the staged photos, the public outings, and the constant need to keep up appearances, things have been hectic. My office had become a welcome respite from it all, an oasis of calm amidst the storm.

The intercom buzzed to life, breaking my focus. "Sir, Emily is here to see you."

I pressed the button, my voice crisp. "Send her in."

The door opened, revealing Emily, clad in a form-fitting dress that perfectly accentuated her curves. She looked a touch taken aback, her eyebrows raised questioningly. "You wanted to see me?"

I leaned back in my chair, allowing a smirk to play on my lips. "Just because we're engaged doesn't mean you're off the hook. You're still my assistant. And, if I may add, an exceptional one at that. I'd be a damn fool not to get as much work out of you as I can."

She chuckled, crossing her arms in faux indignation. "And here I thought I was on wedding duty. You mean I still have to earn my keep?"
